In the middle of nowhere but right off the 395 - this is a godsend for travelers making their way up to the Mammoth area. It's a pretty large sized Shell Gas station with a food mart, Subway Sandwich with lots of seating and decent bathrooms. My fave here: their self serve coffee station isn't bad at all. One of the brews has extra caffeine- perfect for long drives. read more

Dependable little gas station out in the middle of nowhere... unless you love there and then it's the center of somewhere special. The folks that work here are pretty friendly and nice to my kiddies when we stop. There's a Subway I've never tried, but it's gotta be on par with other gas station Subways across the country where roads cross and mountain ranges shake hands and agree to disagree at the bottoms of canyons and such. There is plenty of room for a trailer to turn around, and a big dirt lot behind to run a dog around or park your rig for a leg stretch. Gasoline price was 30¢ higher than off the 210 freeway, but not exorbitantly gouging or pint-of-blood-high. When you decided not to get gas in Mojave or Lone Pine and you're sorta like, "Aunt Mildred, are we gonna make it???" ... you'll be glad to see this gas station. read more

These station is right off the freeway which was perfect stop before coming up to mammoth. The shell station was large enough for trucks it seemed. There is a subway located inside and the mart has all convenience items as well as beer and some clothing options like beanies which looked good. I'm not sure if they would've been willing to let me into the store and use the toilet when I passed by at 2 AM, but there was a sign taped to the door that said something to the effect of using the porta-potties, and I was too tired to go in and dispute it... However, I wish I was exaggerating when I say that I've never seen porta-potties so full in my life... Both of them had toilet paper (and probably excrement) that was almost level with the seat! Hi everyone! I live across the street from this gas station and some of their male staff are very rude. Please make a complaint about them if this happens to you on this link. I really want them fired for this. The last guy I had an altercation with was rude to an elderly, I stuck up for them and he was pretty threatening to me. His voice, hand gestures, and everything else was very threatening. He stood up, almost as if he was going to fight me. I'm this small 5'5 female and he has to be at least 6' male. Wow the credit card transactions are SLOW here. I'd forgot the old days of using a modem at credit card / ATM terminals. With so many pumps all going over the same phone line, wow. Long wait. I'm sure the restaurant uses the same line. And each transaction is probably a separate phone call. Hahaha. But beside the slow transactions and "high" prices, it's a good place to stop, fill up, rest and maybe get an ice cream. Or more... The bathrooms are clean. Considering where it is located, yes the prices are high compared to places in a big city but frankly they aren't unreasonable. Fuel wasn't crazy, frankly comparable to Costco in Hesperia. Water, soda, ice, etc., all comparable to any other gas station, just a bit higher. The employees are unique. I guess if you live where there isn't a lot of choice in applicants, you get what you get. People skills are really lacking in this bunch. Which I found odd because people in small towns are usually very nice, even if only superficially. But if you go out of your way to be extra nice rather than a grumpy traveler they will start chatting. So go see the Uniroyal Gal up the street, get photos and then come to the station to fill up, cool off and continue on your way. read more

This review should have been months ago but eh I'll do it now. It is okay place to stop. My nephew wanted something from here or he had to do a pit stop I don't remember because like I said it is a late review. It has everything you need, food, snacks, restrooms, Subway sandwiches, tables to eat, gas fill up, and etc. I think this is my third time I ever stopped here. The first time Burger King was here (and not Subway, so that was a while ago) I remember being hungry and getting either a Whopper or the classic chicken sandwich. I remember it took a while for the lady to cook the order as other people were waiting as well. She was "oh hey there is a line I should cook your order". I usually don't stop here and just go on and stop at the rest area at Coso Junction about 15 minutes north. The restroom was also pretty clean here. So all in all it is okay. read more

I bet you're asking yourself right now, why in god's name is this girl reviewing a shell station? And also asking yourself, where in god's name is Pearsonville, California? Well, thats a lot of god's name, so i'll tell you. Last friday night my lovely boyfriend and I made the short 320 mile drive up to Mammoth for a wedding. About halfway there, past the "big cities" of Palmdale and Lancaster, is Pearsonville. The "town" consists of the Shell station and cafe. Needing to fill up, pee and by sugary snacks, we stopped. When we walked in there were plenty of your usual midnight at a gas station characters, and even some people reading and doing laundry! The bathroom was deplorable, but come on, its a gas station. After choosing out our drinks and snacks from the wild and crazy plethora available, we made our way up to the counter where we met pretty much the most adorable woman on the planet. She took each item, named it, gave us her opinion on it and then rang it up. For example....."Ooooooh, funions, i love these but they make my breath stink." In my slightly tired but still trying to stay awake daze, this was unbelievably funny. Then the last item I picked out was a carmel apple pop, to this she simply raised her voice to soprano quality and said "and, a sucker". I love this woman. She also gives directions! We said about how long till Mammoth and her answer was " Just keep goin' down 395 and you'll run right into it, you can't miss it." We said thank you and bolted outside at a run so we could start uncontrollably laughing. Best shell experience ever, hands down! read more

So you need a place to stop and stretch your legs right? Why not do it here... I mean its just north of the 395/14 Y. So it makes sense. Alrighty ready ... break... WRONG PLACE! The only reason I could remotely get stopping here is if you didnt stop at Costco in Victorville or some other joint on the way north and had to have some Subway. But the cleanliness of this joint is atrocious! The floors always need to be mopped, the doors are always covered with grodie looking streaks and smears. The bathrooms are 10 times worse than the rest stop another 5-10 miles up the road. But the worst part is that the last time I was there, someone had smeared feces all around the bathroom it looked and smelled like. The sink doesnt work well either so bring a handy dandy set of baby wipes or something else to get your hands clean. They have a picnic table on the northeast side of the building (away from 395) but you have to dodge a million puppy landmines to get to it. Gas is not that cheap here but they do fuel diesel trucks on the oppesite side from the regular pumps. I have had to use this location as a place to change a tire about to blow as well. So it is a great location. But this place is run down and nasty. So bad that I dont want to stop here if I can avoid it. Seriously though just keep driving. Nothing to see here. Nothing to do here. Keep going to a decent place somewhere else! read more

Pearsonville is basically a teeny, tiny blip on the radar screen. Places like this serve their purpose, so I don't think one should be too terribly harsh. Cute place, lots of stuff but BF said his apple danish was the shittiest he's ever had and the coffee wasn't that great. However, maybe a shitty apple danish is better than no apple danish. Not so great coffee may be better than no coffee. I do know one thing, when you have to go, any place to pee is better than no place to pee. IMHO read more

They had no working bathrooms available. The men's and women's bathroom said "out of service" on the doors. So they directed us to the porter potties which had crap up to the rim and extremely dirty. We decided not to fill up the truck due to this. They lost a lot of gas money in business. We have an 18 gallon tank and it usually takes 2 transactions to fill up. Oh well, their loss. read more

Nice selection of maps which includes points of interest and parks. We probably could have save 10 bucks at grocery but this what you will pay at a convenience. They also have subways. At register they have park stickers for highway, death valley, and also magnets, and sunscreen protection up to 70. They also have Styrofoam coolers available on top shelf. Avoid This Place At All Cause!! The bathrooms are always dirty. Unless you go late at nite. But if you go Late at nite it's usually cleaner. This leads me to why I am writing my review. The lazy employees decided to tell my dad he couldn't throw trash away in the trash cans by the gas pumps after filling his tank for $3 a gallon and made him walk through the dark to throw his trash away. Only stop if you have to. I'd recommend hitting the spots in Adelanta. It's clean enough and has an ok selection of snacks, but there are better and larger facilities on the drive to Mammoth. Be careful with the gas pumps too... they don't automatically stop. And they're ridiculously slow. read more

Everyone knows the 395 has few options before you hit the crawl of Lone Pine and the other towns on the way up to Mammoth. This has always been the gas/nature stop for me but I really don't know why, habit I guess? Anyway, there is nothing exceptional about this location, gas prices are expensive, selection is normal, but they have a Subway so that is good if that is your bag. Their bathrooms are so well maintained that you would prefer a porta potty at Coachella in 110 degree heat and there is no motivation to wash your hands because you will eventually have to touch the knob to turn the water off which would defeat the purpose of using soap....just saying...get in and get out. The only reason this place gets 2 stars on my review is the cashier at the station was phenomenal on my last visit. The guy was friendly, not creepy friendly as you would expect, just friendly. I can't remember what he said exactly but it was something along the lines of have a great day but with much more sincerity and small talk...he commended me on my purchase of chile picante corn nuts...bonus points for having disgustingly bad taste just like me! read more
