Eye exam on December 13, 2025. Standard single-vision glasses ordered the same day. The exam itself was excellent. The problem is the glasses. We were given a pickup deadline of January 3, 2026. Today is January 3. That is 21 days after the order, and the glasses are still not ready. When my partner called today, the only update was: "they aren't in yet." Staff acknowledged the deadline has passed but gave no explanation and no new timeline. The store did not contact him before the deadline passed. This delay has real consequences. His existing glasses have deteriorated to the point of being unusable, and he depends on corrective lenses to drive safely and perform his job. Missing a promised pickup date for basic single-vision glasses, with no communication or urgency, puts unnecessary strain on someone who relies on vision to work and commute safely. Waiting 21 days for standard single-vision glasses and still missing the promised date is unacceptable. If you need glasses within a reasonable timeframe, do not rely on this location. Disappointed by Deceptive Sales Tactics at Crossroads Mall Pearle Vision My wife recently stopped in to buy a pair of eyeglasses and clearly told the associate she did not want insurance. Despite that, the employee added a $39.99 insurance charge without consent. When questioned, she didn't offer a refund--she handed over a $25 gift card instead, claiming it was a "misunderstanding." My wife asked why she wasn't just refunded the full amount, and the associate admitted the charge but insisted it was a mistake. This felt less like an honest error and more like a push for commission. Now we're stuck waiting days for a refund we never should've needed. If you shop here, double-check your receipt and be cautious--especially if you decline add-ons. We won't be returning. read more

This was my second visit and again it was a fantastic experience. Michelle, the optician was patient with me while I tried on what seemed like a gazillion frames. She also worked her magic to get me the best price possible because apparently my insurance only covers a new frame every two years and not one We decided to use the frame I purchased last year for my progressive lenses and then a different frame for my "computer" glasses. Now I just have to patiently wait until they're ready for pick up. Highly recommend!! read more

I had a great experience! I had another place try to fit up my glasses multiple times and they always ended up really out of whack. After about 10 minutes Laura had my Ray-Bans fitting perfect. They are now well balanced and symmetrical! Go see Laura! read more

Really great service. Top notch exam. Things weren't perfect with my lenses and they immediately stepped up to correct the problem. Very forthcoming to give me all of my options and to make sure I was comfortable with both the frames and lenses. I have worn glasses for over fifty years and lamented the shift in service for this industry. Not this time. I am currently seeing better and able to read comfortably for the first time in five years. read more

This is the second time I've used this facility and th second time I've been extremely dissatisfied with my service. I ordered glasses and was told 7-10 days. I called weekly, finally on day 21 I asked for a refund and to cancel my order so I could go somewhere else, I was told a manager would call me back in 2 days- miraculously I get a call 15 min later and low and behold they "found" my glasses... and if I hadn't threatened to cancel- then what??? Y'know, I swore I'd never use another Pearle Vision again after my poor experience at the location in Oakbrook Terrace, IL, but after moving to a new area and one being close by, I decided to give the Portage location a chance. What a mistake! Where to begin... After making it clear to the front desk staff that my vision insurance (VSP) is in no way tied to my medical coverage, she insisted that it was with a snarky tone and that my BCBS ID number was the same as my VSP ID number (Don't patronize me - I work with insurance every day). After sitting in the waiting room for 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, I was told they were running behind and asked if I wanted to continue waiting or reschedule - I opted to reschedule for the following week. My spouse had an appointment later that afternoon and after he returns, was charged $82.00+ for just an exam (which a $10.00 copay without any deductible) plus an "OptoMapping" add on test for $35.00. His total cost should have only been $45.00. After calling Pearle Vision back to dispute the overcharging, they continue to state that my insurance plan is only a 20% discount off of goods and services. We are still currently fighting for our refund and the manager is always conveniently out of the office when we call. We've even involved our insurance representative who sold our company the policy to fight for our refund and are also involving corporate. I worry about insurance fraud (knowingly or unknowingly being committed) and other patrons who are being taken advantage of or may be unaware of their vision benefits. Absolutely under all circumstances steer clear of this train wreck business. Save yourself the headache. read more

I went to Pearle Vision in Crossroads Mall to have my glasses adjusted, which turned out to be a huge mistake. After much pulling and twisting, the nose piece cracked and later fell off. I went back in to get a replacement, it was ordered, but after it came in 10 days later, it wasn't the right part. I was told to wait for several more days to see if they could find something in the back room of a different store, and I was promised that the manager (Cindy, who never seems to be there) would call me. They never got back to me about the results of their search, and needless to say, the manager never called. The staff, led by Cathy, displayed sheer indifference, defensiveness, rudeness, and unresponsiveness. Customer service is a foreign word to this office. I should explain that I am legally blind, and that I strongly depend on my glasses to see much of anything. This was patiently explained to the staff, and that we are about to leave on a trip. Knowing that their incompetence was about to leave me without glasses for the duration, there was never an offer or even a mention of a replacement pair, or even a loaner. I was directly told that action of any sort was impossible without Cindy's approval, and she was conveniently absent and unreachable. Please note that glasses purchased here, as mine were less than three years ago, can neither be repaired nor replaced if they are more than one year old. You have been warned. Our bad experience boggles the mind. Never, ever go to this store. read more

I went in for an eye exam. The doctor was VERY good. I have had a corneal transplant, with scarring, so i wasn't sure if he could find a script to improve my vision in that eye. He did! He was super efficient, but also sweet and compassionate. The associates who helped me to finalize the transaction were really on top of it. I left with exactly what i had hoped for. I was impressed, and will absolutely come back, next year, even though it is quite a drive from where I live. Check them out. They won't disappoint. read more

The doctor was excellent. My prescription is even better!!! Sandra was my technician. She patiently listened to how I wanted the glasses to sit on my face and where I wanted the bifocal line. She told me about the new anti-glare coating. And I love the Crizal coating, as well, as scratches are way down with this. The store manager held some frames I tried on prior to my appt so I didn't have to rush to choose on the day of my appt., and I could be sure they were still there. I have had nothing but good service and good glasses at this location for over 15 years. I am a health care professional so I feel qualified to judge and rate this business. read more

I have been a patient at Pearle Vision for over 10 years. I saw Dr. Mitchell during most of that time and loved her! A new Doctor named Dr. Ciotti replaced Dr Mitchell and I was skeptical if I would like him as much. Well, he was great! Super friendly and thorough. They did a nice job replacing a long time much loved doctor. The staff if great too. My only complaint is the amount of time it takes to check out. But I think that is due to processing insurance and isn't the staff's fault. I will continue to be a patient at Pearle Vision. read more

I have had nothing but horrible service from Pearle Vision in Portage MI. My first visit I waited an hour to be seen for my actual exam. As I was looking for frames while wait not a single employee offered to help me find a pair of glasses that worked for me. The prices on a complete pair of glasses WITH insurance was ridiculous and I was changed the wrong amount. To top everything off I have been waiting for 20 days for my glasses to arrive and every time I call to check they are rude on the phone. I will go back to my original Eye doctor with less of a selection on frames that are within a reasonable price range and have amazing customer service skills. Never Again. Please note, this review is for the location inside of Crossroads Mall. I couldn't locate a separate Yelp page for this specific location. This was the WORST experience of customer service. I made an appointment at Pearle Vision because of new insurance and I needed a refill on my contacts. My first visit was on Monday, January 4th, for contacts, and while I was there decided to get new glasses-frames and lenses. The woman at check in was not welcoming at all, just kind of barked one word orders to me, where to sit, fill out this form... The doctor was a jerk. No other way to put it. I can't even tell you his name because he never told me. I was sitting in a chair waiting for about 5 minutes (not bad) and he walked past me quite a few times with a look of annoyance on his face. I honestly thought he was a desk person who didn't want to be at work that day. Then he walked by me and said "have you ever been here before?" I said no and he used his hand to gesture to follow him. We did those tests where you look at the barn and you get a squirt of air in your eye. I made a comment about how that always gets me and laughed (which I'm sure many ppl do because it's weird) and he just grumbled "follow me" and took me to the exam room. In the exam room, he spoke to me the ENTIRE time with his back to me. He sat at a desk and looked a computer and wrote on my chart and never looked me in the eye or even asked my name. His demeanor and the way he talked to me made me uncomfortable. During the exam he WAS all business and at least that made me feel like he cared about my eyes. The woman that checked me out was friendly and helpful with picking out frames. She also gave me the price breakdown of what it would cost with and without adding glasses. The doctor sent me with a trial pair of contacts and wanted to see me a week later, before releasing the contacts to be sent to me. I made my next appointment for 10am on Monday, January 11th. I arrived to the mall at 5 minutes to 10 and Pearle Vision still had lights off and the gate over the door. I saw ppl inside but waited until 10. At 10am, the time they open, I approached the gate and said "excuse me, I have an appointment at 10." They scurried to open and then told me that I can't have an appointment at 10, because the doctor doesn't come in until 10:30. I wrote down 10am in two different places so I know for a fact, I was told 10am. The manager was out front and never once approached me when I was speaking with the woman that was checking me in. I was getting a little irritated, and obviously unhappy, when she was telling me that not only was my appointment a half hour later but that I couldn't have the contacts that I paid for, until I saw the doctor. No one offered an apology for the confusion or even an explanation of the process. Having seen the doctor a couple of times now, I do think that he just has that kind of personality, he's not necessarily mean, just not welcoming. At all. The woman that checked me out the first time was very helpful and friendly, even though apparently, she mixed up appointment times. Moral of the story, I'll be going elsewhere from now on. I have a feeling that these people don't take responsibility and the last thing they care about is customer service. read more

I will never return to this Pearle Vision in Crossroads Mall. They take your money and promise delivery and then fail to follow up even when glasses are more than 2 weeks late. I have had to hound them. And the response I get is that the frames are on back order or had to come from overseas...not my problem. Ugggghhhhh! read more
