    We have been going to Rx Optical for many, many years. While I was working, we were able to get our eyes checked every year. Now that I'm retired, we can go every other year. We make sure we get our eyes checked every other year. Their Dr. is very professional, and I feel that I get a thorough exam and that my eyes are in "good hands". My only complaint is the variety of glass frames. They don't seem to have a lot of frames that fit in the "I'm retired and living on a fixed income" budget. It seems like they have a rack of "special insurance" frames that are reasonable, but if you don't have that special insurance, you can't get those frames. They don't seem to have a lot of frames in the $100 - $125 range which is what most insurances will pay for. Since my husband wears bifocals, and I know we're going to have to pay extra for his lenses, I don't like having to match what my insurance will pay just to get my husband a good pair of glasses. As far as quality -- yes, they are great. As far as being affordable and reasonable -- that's why 3 stars.

    This establishment is horrible. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

    The doctor and staff at the Portage location was amazing, so down to earth and easy to talk to. Great experience for me and my husband.

    Eye exam on December 13, 2025. Standard single-vision glasses ordered the same day. The exam itself…read morewas excellent. The problem is the glasses. We were given a pickup deadline of January 3, 2026. Today is January 3. That is 21 days after the order, and the glasses are still not ready. When my partner called today, the only update was: "they aren't in yet." Staff acknowledged the deadline has passed but gave no explanation and no new timeline. The store did not contact him before the deadline passed. This delay has real consequences. His existing glasses have deteriorated to the point of being unusable, and he depends on corrective lenses to drive safely and perform his job. Missing a promised pickup date for basic single-vision glasses, with no communication or urgency, puts unnecessary strain on someone who relies on vision to work and commute safely. Waiting 21 days for standard single-vision glasses and still missing the promised date is unacceptable. If you need glasses within a reasonable timeframe, do not rely on this location. One star.

Despite that, the employee added a $39.99 insurance charge without consent. When questioned, she didn't offer a refund--she handed over a $25 gift card instead, claiming it was a "misunderstanding." My wife asked why she wasn't just refunded the full amount, and the associate admitted the charge but insisted it was a mistake. This felt less like an honest error and more like a push for commission. Now we're stuck waiting days for a refund we never should've needed. If you shop here, double-check your receipt and be cautious--especially if you decline add-ons. We won't be returning.
