I've loved this place, but after last week I'm going to rethink visiting this office. I really like Dr Randall Paul, but the front office is SO RUDE. The attitudes and comments were uncalled for. Apparently I'm supposed to know when THEY require me to fill out paperwork. The workers were even rude to each other. The male worker acted like I offended him by saying I wasn't going to look at glasses with him. Doc handed him my prescription and said he's all set, he proceeded to say new prescription? I said yes. He's like want to look at new frames? I said no thank you, he just stood there and stared at me then proceeds to say "you just said yes." I'm like sorry didn't know "new prescription?" Meant hey let's buy some new glasses today. He proceeds to just tell me what I owe for the day, "enter your pin" hands me my receipt and that's it. Like gee, sorry I ruined your day.. I hope this place gets a new office staff soon. I know we don't come here for friends, but it should be a little bit friendlier. I highly recommend Dr. Paul. He is incredibly knowledgeable in his field. My son has had to go to a pediatric ophthalmologist since he was very young every year for a lazy eye. Last year, we were so busy I just booked an appt here so we could both get it done together. After seeing Dr. Paul we found out he has been incorrectly diagnosed. He needed therapy to fix his issue, as surgery would not work. It's a brain issue not an eye issue. After going to the reccomended therapy and getting further testing we can't believe how much this truly was a serious issue that needed to be addressed for his quality of life. We are so incredibly thankful to Dr. Paul for getting us the help he needs. read more

I came here for an eye exam after two years of not having one. The place is very clean. The staff is alright. The exam went fine and the doctor was very nice. Told me how to take care of my eyes. The only thing if anything is I was sent the itemized bill and they charged me a 40 dollar protection plan for a year. I had no knowledge of that charge and honestly don't think I need it or even want that. I wish that was a little more transparent because it was never brought up or mentioned. Nor was it brought up as an optional charge. The eye exam was 59$ after insurance. 100$ for the frames, 45$ for AR for astigmatism and then 50$ for the blue light filter plus another 40 for the protection plan. It came out a bill of almost 300$ which I find rather pricy. They have a lot of designer frames and maybe two makers who are not designer frames. They carry coach and Prada and all the name brands which marks up the cost rather much. read more

Been getting contacts here for years and usually didn't have a problem. When I previously ordered they said they were on back order and it took 2 months for them to get here. When they finally did and went to go pick them up they said they threw my right ones away and could only give me my left ones... the lady up front had nothing to say but just laughed. Long time, maybe the longest time, patient of Dr. Randall Paul. He has been my eye doctor since I was in high school in the 80's. He's been at a few locations since then but all in the East Valley and I've following him every time. He's currently at Pearle Vision Desert Ridge. Customer service - front area - has been average or above. Recently, my prescription had to be adjusted and the front office gals helped me a great deal to understand the process. I came here to get Ray Bans repaired. The glasses I was told could be repaired came back in the same condition less a few adjustments. Days later the frames were separating from the lense bracket & were unusable. I purchased lenses expecting to use them. I was also billed for a contact exam I didn't want or need. I have been a contact wearer for 18 years and was hoping to try a new eye doctor closer to my home. In reading the reviews for this Pearle Vision location decided to give them a try, don't make this mistake. The first issue pertains to a HIPPA violation where someone in the office, on the floor, not only confirmed a patient of the practice but also their doctor, insurance and eye condition based on a first and last name inquiry of a "friend". My appointment was on 4/25/2023 where the doctor changed my prescription to a lower power despite having not been able to properly fit the Phoropter to my eye (I was unable to get left and right eye images to fully coincide into one image), being a long time contact/glasses user, having dozens of exams, I have never had this a problem in the past. The prescription written changed me from Dailies which I was fine in, to a lower power, different diameter and BC contact (MyDay by Coopervision) with a note to try them out and if I didn't like them to let the office know. Further, I was never told about the results of my digital eye imaging. Having tried the new contacts over a few days, I determined they weren't a good fit and the prescription, side by side with my old lenses was off -0.5. Stopped in on 4/28 to either swap back to the old prescription or try a different prescription, unfortunately, the doctor hadn't yet had lunch so would be unable to see me for an hour and a half, I noted that I was okay to go back to my prior lenses but was unable to stay the hour and a half, was told no problem, leave my name and number for the doctor and they would call me. After having not heard back, I called in on 5/3 to explain the situation to a different person who noted they would chat with the doctor and have a prescription or resolution by end of day. As of 5/11 writing this review, I have yet to hear back from the doctor and was forced to used an online exam to renew my original prescription. The professionalism, follow through and lack of patient privacy from four separate folks within this practice make me hope that my experience was only an anomaly. read more

Please, do NOT go here and waste your yearly insurance check up. I went here thinking I was booking an appointment with a doctor. Turns out, everything is done through video call. The phoropter (the prescription testing chair) is controlled remotely through video call. This would be fine, except the prescription they gave me was wildly off, and I could not even read my monitor at work anymore. Everyone makes mistakes, but I never had a prescription be wrong. I go back for another exam and get another trial lens. Unfortunately, this one is also blurry. It is definitely better than the last ones, but unusable. The use of remote exams should be made more clear BEFORE my insurance is used. Clearly this is not adequately tested and using us patients as guinea pigs is not acceptable. Also, my contacts prescription trial was same for each eye but my glasses they were different for each? What the... Such a waste of time and money. I have come to this location for several years for eye exams and the service has declined overtime. Most recently, the Wait time was 30 minutes + past appointment time for my exam in addition to weak customer service. This is the first year I purchased glasses from them which was a mistake. Wish I could give zero stars for customer service! Worst place ever! Walked in, let them know I had my prescription and I only wanted to see some Maui Jim, they just sat and pointed. No one took time to show me where they were. They could see that I wasn't seeing what they pointed to, but still just pointed....So I said it's ok clearly no one wants to help and walked out. Today4/22 I went there again since the other lens popped out and it was the bottom part, thanks God the unpleasant bold guy was not there, it was a very kind and nice lady by the name of Torey that took the glasses fixed the lens and said the frame was crocked and she fixed it too. FIRE YOUR STORE MANAGER TRACY!! She is committing FRAUD! Listen to the other negative reviews they are true! I was wrongfully charged for 2 eye scans and quoted outrageous fees for contacts and glasses. The receptionist told the manager we did not authorize the scans and she snapped back and told her to add the charges. You need to ask for an itemized receipt and breakdown for the ungodly quotes you will get for eye exams, contacts and glasses. $1200 for contacts she's on crack. My sister works for an optometrist in another state and was flabbergasted when I told her about my experience which by the way I still ongoing. They will not credit back my card so I had to reach out to my bank to handle. I asked Tracy to leave a voicemail or email with all the info she was spewing bc I work and can't keep playing phone tag and be put on hold for extended periods of time. Tracy will not leave any information in a voicemail or email because she knows she can get sued for the fraudulent information she is giving. I went with my BF to Pearle Vision recently and each time we walk in the experience has been wonderful. Dr Paul is professional and an expert in his field. He was so patient and wonderful. He's very intuitive and knows exactly what he's talking about. Shout out to Scott who is just an absolute delight. We asked him what he thought about a couple pairs of glasses and he was super genuine and gave us his opinion. read more

This place is commiting fraud and their speciality is the elderly. They upsell them on expensive glasses, and when the person tries to cancel, they call them names, tell them they can't back out (the next day), and threaten them with legal action. I witnessed it with my neighbor. They ought to be closed down!!! read more

I really hate to give two stars because I love Dr. Paul, but the customer service here is horrible. I went to this location last year and had a fine experience, so I recommended them to my husband who's shopping for glasses. We went there at 5:30 (they're open until 6). We were immediately told by a sassy, flippant bald man working there that they close at 6 and their system is taken offline at 5:30 so you can't buy anything. He indicated that only customers with appointments are there past 5:30 and there usually aren't people there looking to buy glasses during that time. What? We work until 5:00 so by the time we get there it's 5:30 and we can't make a purchase? I'll still go see Dr. Paul but will be taking my prescription elsewhere. read more

Update: I had to call multiple times about my prescription being ready for pick up ahead of leaving town for the holidays. The only reason why my rating went from 5 to 4 stars is because I had to constantly be inquiring about the status while being told different things each time. The office manager did speak to me and helped get me all set but there seemed to be a lot of confusion so additional training should be implemented. -------- Everyone was so friendly and took the time to explain each step of the process. The entire support staff was courteous and helpful. They each took the time and made the extra effort to get to know me. Doctor was personable and very knowledgeable taking the time to go over the findings. I will definitely be back! read more

I reviewed this location of Pearle Vision in 2021. Two years later THEY ARE JUST AS GOOD!! Dr. Paul is one of the best optometrists I have ever seen (and I have seen many). He is patient and never makes me feel rushed. As for the purchasing of new glasses, I have worked with George a few times now. He is OUTSTANDING! I needed 2 pair of glasses, and he worked with me to ensure I got the best pricing I could. He even worked with my plan to make sure I was properly covered. Well it is that time of year again where you have your nice newly renewed insurance.....so you decide to go and get your new glasses. Well I decided to choose this location because like all Pearle Visions you can order your Frames instead of accepting the one's on the showroom floor. I don't know about all of you but I surely don't want a frame that dozens of other people have put on there faces.....LOL!!!! The doctor at this office is awesome and well educated......the staff..... well that is a different story. Some of them seem to know exactly what you want and need......while others just seem like they started working there yesterday. I am not a huge fan of these kinds of places to begin with....but thank goodness my wife has the patience. Now don't get me wrong they are nice people and for the most part the establishment is attractive.... however.....some of the staff just need to step up and refresh their customer service skills. I have been going here for a couple years now and I have had nothing but good experiences. Dr. Paul is fantastic, as well as his substitute when he is not there. I've had to get corrective lenses for over 30 years now so I've had a lot of experience in the optometrist's chair. My daughter needs them now and I'm grateful to have them as a resource. Also, I really like the machine that is an alternative to dilating the eyes and is totally worth the extra fee. Not everybody has this machine. I won't go anywhere that doesn't! read more

Wonderful experience with Dr Paul and Lyric - lady with long blonde hair and glasses today. Dr Paul was thorough and efficient but not aloof. He answered my questions and explained test results and future considerations. Lyric explained the different tests thoroughly, took time to make me feel comfortable and was genuinely interested in knowing how she could help. This is also the first time to be provided with an alternative to dilation and the 4 to 6 hours of misery that follows! They have a machine that scans your retina and eye for the doctor to evaluate eye health and compare during future visits. Lyric also went out of her way to help find fun frames and suggest ways to maximize my budget. I will definitely go there again and highly recommend Dr Paul & Lyric! read more

Made appointment online then received phone call to reschedule for later in the day. I showed up at my newly assigned time and was told that the doctor wasn't in and to come back in 20 minutes. I returned 20 minutes later and the receptionist began to explain the intake procedures. The doctor saw me then pulled the receptionist aside and told her that he would not see me. I was told it was for my own safety. (!?) Maybe its because I'm not white. I'll never know why, on sight, that he refused to see me but since I'm clean, quiet and have insurance, I'm inclined to believe that the refusal of service may be racially motivated. I had a really good experience today with Dr. Paul. I've been wearing the wrong strength of contacts for years now (same strength in both eyes), causing blurriness while driving and loss of focus multiple times a day. The tech listened to my issues and was friendly. The doctor listened to my concerns as well and was very friendly, personable and changed my prescription in one eye. These contacts feel so much better, i'm not losing focus anymore and can drive without having my vision go blurry. Didn't feel rushed at all unlike the experiences i've had at other ophthalmologists. Terribly unhappy with the service, and with what I paid for glasses that I cannot see through. I refused to take them ------- I cannot see through them. Pearle Vision refused a refund or to apply money (of balance after choosing a replacement pair) to contacts. Contacted my insurance to no avail. I am so disappointed . Not sure what I will do 2 days ago ***** UPDATE: Today, the store manager (SM) called to offer to apply the costs ($277.98) to contact lenses. Unfortunately, I have already purchased contact lenses from Costco. The SM suggested I seek a refund from Costco for the contact lenses and use the Pearle Vision credit to purchase from them (? makes no sense from the customer point of view). The call seemed more like I was being scolded by the principal. He spent most of the call, defending the service I received which in my opinion was subpar. I explained that if I had known the cost of the frames, I would have chosen less expensive - he said that it is Pearle Vision policy to exclude the prices on the frames because it doesn't include the cost of the lenses. The guy doing the glasses order specifically said (after completing all the minutia involved) that you chose one of our most expensive frames. I would not have proceeded, if I knew that an hour earlier; it was the only frame I tried on, there was no one available to help guide me, I had no idea. I haven't worn glasses in 20 years. What a terrible experience. I told him that I would like a refund. He said, "That isn't going to happen". My options are 1) reader prescription in the entire lens or 2) a lined bifocal which he said would not be much different that the previous lens (that I couldn't see out of). I told him I would like a refund. He said I have 9 days left to decide. Wait, he originally said I had 30 days to decide... He clarified that it was from the date of purchase. I cannot believe that Pearle Vision is doing this!!!!! I didn't even try the glasses until last week and when I went there on Tuesday, they were closed. I could of had two additional days! Not sure it would make a difference. Looks like they are taking my money and there is nothing I can do about it. Beware! Went to pay for my eye exam and was charged $35 more than I expected for a Screening OptoMap that I never requested. They just did it without mentioning the extra cost. I decided if they were intentionally deceptive for an extra $35 in revenue, I wasn't going to trust them with an eyeglass purchase Never going to another Pearle Vision when there are so many other optical care suppliers to chose from. read more

I'm even madder now! It's been almost a month since I went in to have them check my new glasses and verify that indeed, they forgot to add the Transitions feature. They let me know they'd reorder my glasses. Stupid me, I assumed it'd be roughly 10 days until they came in. Either they never reordered them, or the glasses have arrived but no one has notified me, or they haven't arrived after nearly a month. Either way, I STILL don't have my glasses. To make matters worse, I now seriously doubt the skill of the doctor. I really needed reading glasses, but I still can't see up close with the initial pair of glasses I received, so now I feel f*&$ed because I've already used my annual insurance benefits. I wanted 7 pairs of glasses, 3 different types of lenses and a duplicate pair of 40 percent black tinted lenses which was lighter than their black tint sample. Many issues with the brand's lab producing a match. At the end I got everything I wanted. Best collection of glasses I ever owned.
