I've been buying from and having eye exams with Pearle Vision in Jax Beach for many years. I knew they were over-priced but the location was convenient when I started there and they did a good job with progressive eyeglasses. Recently, however, I was stunned by their blatant attempt to scam me! During the exam the doc asked if I'd be willing to wear contacts for 15-20 minutes in the store and provide feedback. No charge of course unless I decided to buy the lenses. After wasting my time for those many minutes, I was told that if I bought the lenses there would be an additional $80-$100 fee on top of the price of the product and on top of the cost of the eye exam - for "evaluation and fitting" of the lenses. I actually laughed at first and rephrased this to make sure the woman at the desk had actually said what she did! When I balked, a salesman ridiculously responded, "we try to give our customers all of the options", whatever that means and "of course if you don't pay for the fitting and evaluation we won't give you the prescription." Again, what? I had never expressed an interest in wearing lenses but the doc thought I'd be a perfect candidate and I thought, well, what do I have to lose? Time I can never get back, for one thing. And, candidate for what? A flagrant rip-off? They surely thought I was either stupid or incredibly gullible. Or did they simply decide that a senior citizen is an easy target? Snake oil salesmen who don't even give you all the required info when you get your eye exam and then after dishing out close to $150 for the exam insinuate it'll cost more to get the info every place asks for when getting a prescription filled when you call back to ask. The classic thing is don't talk smack about your customers when they walk out and maybe you won't lose business when they walk back in on you complaining about them. God forbid you actually have to do your job. Also they mark up the frames almost 300% from what the manufacturer advertises on there website and then will basically tell you anything to get the deal done. read more

Arrived at the store at 4:46 this p.m. to pick up my daughters contacts, and the doors are already locked. Their door says they open until 5, their website says they are open until 5, and when I called yesterday to check hours, the voicemail says they are open until 5. I just drove 40 minutes across town to get their before 5, yet they are closed 15 min early. Not cool read more

We've gotten glasses from the OP Pearle Vision Center the last 3 or so years. This year we ventured over to the Marsh Landing facility. Mattie was the first person we saw when we walked in. She was very welcoming and offered lots of advice and guidance. My husband loved the glasses he chose and to top it off, Mattie helped us maximize our flex spending options to achieve the best and most effective pricing. We appreciate her patience and help! I really love everybody at the Pearle Vision in Jacksonville Beach! They are very kind, welcoming and professional... Dr. Taylor is extremely knowledgeable in her profession, makes you feel comfortable, and does a great job explaining everything. From the technician in the front who did my preliminary screenings to the technician at the end who helped me order my contacts and make the most of my benefit, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to be in and out within the hour! Phenomenal pricing on contacts and exams, clean and bright layout plus the Doctor and vision staff seemed very knowledgeable , at least in my case. HOWEVER, even with an appointment I made online for 12:15 pm , I didn't get out of there until 2pm! The reason was that there was a vague back up but if you are going to make we wait that long, be upfront and have me come back. Also, the eyeglass sales staff came across as rather, well, uppity and aloof, although the selection of frames seemed decent. I guess I'll return in a year or maybe not. Hence, 3 stars. read more

set an appointment 2 weeks in advance, got stuck in traffic on my way , had a call from them been late 10 minute, after I explained my situation and only been 2-3 minutes away and was told its ok, I received a call as I was pul to the driveway that I am 15 min late and I need to reschedule cause the doctor left for the day. unbelievable. read more

I am only giving a one star review for the incompetence and inability to acknowledge that a serious mistake was done on the part of the employee. I went to this Pearle Vision in November. Matthew, an associate, told me that they do not take me insurance, the standard plan through BCBS FEP Davis vision, but that they do take the high plan through BCBS FEP Davis vision. After finding a pair of frames I liked, he said that if I change my plan in the new calendar year, Pearle Vision will accept the new insurance plan. I came back in December, after changing my plan for the 2020 calendar year, and imagine my surprise when Matthew suddenly said he does not accept any BCBS FEP Davis vision plans. Rather than admitting that he simply made a mistake earlier and misinformed me, he tried to tell me that he just told me to switch plans because it offers more benefits than my current one. What was even more infuriating was my parents had stopped by two weeks earlier to let Matthew know I'd be in town in December to talk to him about the glasses because I changed my plan based on his information and he confirmed what we were first told in November, which is that they would accept the high plan of BCBS FEP Davis vision. Again, I can forgive a mistake if the employee is willing to be honest and acknowledge that he misinformed me unintentionally. But the arrogance of Matthew to act as if he never advised me to change insurances because that's what Pearle Vision would accept is just plain dishonest and not fair business. I know am going to pay for a higher insurance plan for 2020 without the benefit of getting the glasses and lenses I wanted from Pearle Vision. read more

I went to this store for a vision check. At the time they told me they did not need my old prescription and that it would not be useful even though I had it readily available. This turned out be one of many disasters, because they couldn't get my prescription right. When I was checking out, the eye salesman was not helpful at all. The staff was walking around trying on glasses and loudly making fun of past customers. They specifically made fun of someone who had come in without their old prescription, because it was very useful... not even 15 minutes after telling me they didn't need my old prescription. Once I finally got the saleman, he quoted me the wrong prices for glasses and contacts that were off(TOO HIGH) by HUNDREDS of dollars. When I asked him to check my insurance because it covers more, he told me he was certain it did not without even looking at my insurance. He was not helpful in picking out glasses and when I tried to make selections, he kept insisting that the Tiffany & Co pair I was considering were better "because they're handmade in Italy" even though they were clearly extremely fragile and easy to break compared to the other pair I was considering, which was several hundred dollars cheaper and clearly would last longer. I left without glasses or contacts and very frustrated. When I contacted my insurance later that day, I found out I was correct in that much more was covered than their salesman had mentioned, and that I would have overpaid by at least $400 had I bought glasses and contacts here. When I left that day, the doctor offered to write for a different prescription in each eye(which he said would be better) vs the same prescription in both eyes(which would be more convenient not to have two kinds of contacts). I opted for the different contacts since that was his primary recommendation. My vision wearing them was poor, and they gave me headaches. It was not tolerable. I called and they told me I would have to go back in for a visit to get the prescription changed even though the doctor had originally offered me the prescription I was asking for. When I went back, they had me get into a chair but the doctor never bothered to come in. When I asked if the glasses prescription would need to be changed, I was told it would not matter. Lo and behold when I went to buy glasses the prescription was also wrong and the WHOLE THING HAD TO BE REDONE. To fix the issues, I had to pay out of pocket at another eye doctor and have the glasses re-made. Save yourself the time and many, many headaches. Go to Ponte Vedra Eye Associates instead. read more

Mind getting ripped off much? Well welcome to Pearle Vision! My latest incident had me visit the store and once again, guess what I was getting ripped off once again. The owner must be one of those POS that came from the used car industry. Do you like buying lenses with no prices to go with them? Or how about shopping for lenses with no prices attached to them! Wow you can get screwed too! I can't believe this place is still open, I dropped around 1,000$ on new lenses an eye exam and new glasses! Guess what Pearle vision not all of your customers live in MARSH LANDING, some of us are broke as shattered glass and we just want to go somewhere to get a new pair of glasses! So if you have money and like to set it on fire then go there! But if your like me go somewhere else! Disclaimer - all the staff was very friendly and cool, it just sucks they work with a greedy corporate trash compactor of a company, I hope they all quit and find better jobs! read more

The doctor here only cares about taking your money. They refused to give me all of the info I needed to order glasses online after paying for a visit. The glasses fitter even lied and told me she would lose her license if she gave me the info. I called corporate and they said there is no reason for them to refuse. I called back to the store and they said they are not a franchise location, even though the sign says Pearl Vision, and that they do not have to do anything Pearl Vision asks of them. Basically a bunch of crooks and liars! Avoid this place at all costs!!!!!! read more

If you want better service, Respect and good care for your eyes then find somewhere else, this place is not for you.!! I have been a customer of pearl vision for an exceptionally long time but in another state. Thinking of the same kind of professionalism and curtesy, I was willing to drive my family hour and 10 minutes one way to this location away from my home every visit. My first impression was not good, the technician Mat was not friendly, and he was very rude. He is more concern about the money and how he is getting paid than to see what customer needs are. The Rx for our eyes were not accurate either. My husband and I had eye exam last December 2020, got the glasses mid-January 2021, could not see out of them, drove back to get them fixed, had eye alignment exam again which was off by a lot!!? Mat took them to re-adjust and it took a month getting them back they still were not fitting so we went to another place 35min. away in April 2021, their service, dr.'s and lenses are so much better we can actually see through the lenses. Our Rx was totally different and the lenses they provided were polycarbonate which were my original lenses until they replaced them with the cheapest and heaviest lenses. We spent good amount on the glasses and lenses. Go somewhere else as we did before you get ripped off at the Jacksonville Beach location of Pearl Vision. read more

I have been going here for many years but this past January. They try to charge you for things extra and say u need it and want money up front for my "free" yearly covered exam. When I got my glasses back in Feb they weren't right and they gave me a hard time about appt even though they have a warranty for 30 days. Something has changed here. I am changing to another provider. I hate being nickeled and dined to death when my appt and lenses free. read more

Horrible!!! Had to give one star to comment. Went last year to get glasses. Was lied to by numerous employees multiple times. Customer service does not exist nor does value. Way overcharged.
