I've been buying from and having eye exams with Pearle Vision in Jax Beach for many years. I knew…read morethey were over-priced but the location was convenient when I started there and they did a good job with progressive eyeglasses. Recently, however, I was stunned by their blatant attempt to scam me! During the exam the doc asked if I'd be willing to wear contacts for 15-20 minutes in the store and provide feedback. No charge of course unless I decided to buy the lenses. After wasting my time for those many minutes, I was told that if I bought the lenses there would be an additional $80-$100 fee on top of the price of the product and on top of the cost of the eye exam - for "evaluation and fitting" of the lenses. I actually laughed at first and rephrased this to make sure the woman at the desk had actually said what she did! When I balked, a salesman ridiculously responded, "we try to give our customers all of the options", whatever that means and "of course if you don't pay for the fitting and evaluation we won't give you the prescription." Again, what? I had never expressed an interest in wearing lenses but the doc thought I'd be a perfect candidate and I thought, well, what do I have to lose? Time I can never get back, for one thing. And, candidate for what? A flagrant rip-off? They surely thought I was either stupid or incredibly gullible. Or did they simply decide that a senior citizen is an easy target? Pearle Vision should be ashamed of using such tactics.

Snake oil salesmen who don't even give you all the required info when you get your eye exam and…read morethen after dishing out close to $150 for the exam insinuate it'll cost more to get the info every place asks for when getting a prescription filled when you call back to ask. The classic thing is don't talk smack about your customers when they walk out and maybe you won't lose business when they walk back in on you complaining about them. God forbid you actually have to do your job. Also they mark up the frames almost 300% from what the manufacturer advertises on there website and then will basically tell you anything to get the deal done.
