Excellent Optometrist and professionally run store - great experience overall, with competitive…read morepricing. I had prior experience at another America's Best location that wasn't this positive, so I was hesitant at first, but having pre-paid for a 3 year EyeCare Club plan last year I figured it was worth a try. I hadn't planned my supply of contacts well and was on my last pair. I also hadn't had eyeglasses made up with a current prescription in about 10 years...so I was really pressing my luck. Anxious to finally address the need, I called the Hamilton Plaza (Hamilton Township, NJ) location for America's Best Contacts & Eye Glasses, assuming that I'd have to wait at least a week for an appointment (based on their online calendar page). I had actually thought to try the other location one more time before this, but me trying the number 3 times - and verifying the listing - they never picked up the phone; that just confirmed my bad impression of the other location. I was delighted then, when I called the Hamilton location and someone picked up on the second ring. Even better, I was offered the chance to take an exam slot that had just opened up -- less than an hour off. Perfect! I went through the preliminary exam - visual acuity test (read the eye chart), color blindness testing, peripheral vision testing (VFT - visual field test), then the auto-refractor (determines prescription), the "puff test" (NCT - non-contact tonometer) to look for early signs of glaucoma, and finally an optional retinal image. All quick, precise, well executed. Then I was back out to the waiting area. The Optometrist working there from Regional Vision Consultants, LLC is Ahmet Degirmen, O.D. Doctor Degirmen called me back after I was in the waiting area for only a few minutes. I was immediately impressed that unlike many other practices I've been to, Dr. Degirmen was engaging, spoke "with me" and not "at me", and was impeccably professional and thorough. I was already familiar with the whole process, but I appreciated him taking the time to explain every step, ask if I had any questions along the way and actually engage in genuine 2-way respectful dialogue (often missing with some medical professionals) - something all too rare in modern business. My prescription had changed since my last exam, so I was wondering how it would work out. My prescription was unusual enough so they didn't have samples in stock, and had to order them. When they did arrive about a week later, I brought them home to try out and was absolutely delighted. According to my new prescription, I'm near-sighted in one eye, far-sighted in the other, and have an astigmatism in both! But the sample lenses (which I'm still wearing after about 10 days) are perfect. This really seems to be the best vision I've enjoyed in many years. I also selected, ordered and received glasses for those times when I won't wear contacts - and that was also fast, pleasant and competitively priced. It took about a week for them to come into the store, and they're great. All in all - this was a great experience. Dr. Ahmet Degirmen was the highlight of this for me: knowledgeable, thorough, pleasant and professional - and he nailed the prescription perfectly. The entire staff at this America's Best location seems to be great. The "vibe" is truly positive, outgoing and welcoming. Staff is attentive - even when they're busy, someone seems to always find you within a minute or two and makes sure you're being helped. Thanks Dr. Degirmen, and thanks to the America's Best staff at the Hamilton Plaza location in Hamilton Township, NJ. Great experience all around, and an excellent value. Highly recommended.

Mr. Pone was more than accommodating, and we spent a long time searching together for frames that would be under my strict price point. He was very thorough in explaining my options, and he also offered a turn-around time that allowed me to pick up my sunglasses the day before my vacation. (I came in on a Thursday afternoon, and the glasses were ready for me to wear on Tuesday morning!) The process was impressively quick and easy to arrange. I left the store with a promise to call back that night with a decision (yes or no), and Mr. Pone called me back the next day confirming that he had placed the order and then requested my credit card information. So convenient! I was very pleased with my sunglasses when they arrived: a Juicy Couture brownish tortoise shell frame, and light brown lenses that fade to a pleasant reddish color. In the right light, it indeed looks like I have "rose-colored glasses"! And I've received tons of compliments! Well worth it! (I'm attaching a photo to this review.) Finally, a nice touch: a week after purchasing my sunglasses, I received a handwritten thank you note in the mail from the optician's office. It was very kind gesture, and it included a 10% coupon for a future purchase. How thoughtful! Very satisfied!

This review is specifically about the front desk staff--not the doctors…read more Summary: The doctors here have always been excellent, and they're the reason my family has continued coming for 9+ years. Unfortunately, the front desk staff have consistently been the opposite--unhelpful, unresponsive, and at times, flat-out rude. If you ask a question or try to find a solution to your own issue, you're met with a sigh or an annoyed tone--like the worst thing you could do is expect them to do their job. You'll notice this is a common theme. Their lack of proactiveness and basic compassion is the only thing consistent about them. __ Recently, after my glasses broke, I was down to my last pair of monthly contacts. I called the office four separate times over the course of a week, each at different times, and left a voicemail every time. Not a single call was returned. Finally, on my last attempt, someone answered and told me my doctor would be away during the week my annual appointment was due. I let the lack of response go and just said I'd call back once I had my work schedule, mentioning that my eyes were starting to sting. I didn't even express my frustration--I just wanted help. In the meantime, I was rationing my last pair of lenses--wearing them for just a few hours a day for school and work, then taking them out. At my appointment, Dr. Landolfi, who was wonderful, immediately offered an emergency supply of contacts and said my new prescription would be ordered that day and ready in 7-10 days. She told me if I needed the emergency pair in the meantime, I could stop by and they'd be available. A week later, I called again to check on the order. Surprise--no response. So I went in person. No one was at the front desk when I walked in--maybe that explains the ignored calls. When someone came out, I asked if my contacts were in. She gave a short, dismissive, "You'll get a call when they come in." I explained I needed them for school and work and couldn't keep waiting, she just repeated the same line, offering no help, no effort, no empathy. So once again, I, the patient, had to suggest a solution: I told her my doctor mentioned an emergency supply. Without even checking, she said, "No, we don't have any." I told her my doctor told me she did. She sighed loudly, asked for my date of birth, checked the computer, and went to the back. Then she came back and said she couldn't give them to me without a note from the doctor, who wasn't in. So again--I, not her--asked if she could write a note or message the doctor and let me know when she gets a response. Which she reluctantly did. I shouldn't have to do all the thinking, problem-solving, and follow-up in a medical office. That's what the front desk is there for. There were so many points during this experience where someone could have helped: * When I first called, they might have offered to schedule me with another doctor since mine was away. * They could've told me about an emergency supply. * They could've referred me to another location so I wouldn't have to wait in such discomfort. Maybe not all of that was possible--but I'll never know, because no one tried. And that's the problem.
