What a great experience! I was on the hunt for a new eye doctor and so happy I landed here. I found Peak Vision through my insurance and they were highly rated. I called and Lisa was super helpful in getting me scheduled the very next day. New patient paperwork was super easy. Upon coming in I was warmly greeted by Lisa and then started looking through their large collection of frames. Molly came in and walked me through the initial part of my exam. She was super helpful and kind. Then I got to meet Dr. Keely and she was amazing. She was thoughtful, curious, and thorough in our exam. I went to Carkner's Family Vision Care because of three reasons, 1) the office is near my home, 2) they took my insurance, and 3) they have been in business for nearly 60 years!!! I was not disappointed. Dr. Dave is awesome. He transitioned me from gas permeable contact lenses to soft lenses... something I needed to do for years, but had not found the right doctor to work with to do this. I am so glad Dr. Dave was the doctor to help me, and I am sooo much happier with my new lenses! They also have an optometry section inside their office there. They have a nice selection of frames (although I just kept my old frames and got new lenses for them). The whole staff at CFVC is top-notch, so knowledgeable and service-oriented too. It was clear they all actually communicate with each other and that the place runs smoothly. My husband just saw Dr. Jeff there and was very happy with his experience as well. This place is awful. Poor service. In-exact orders and I question the medical advice from dr. Jeff. I keep giving them second chances but everything they do for me (diagnose dry eyes, contact fitting, contact ordering) has been screwed up. Stay away and find a better doc. I posted a bunch of "tips" instead of a review-- look there for more info on specific instances with this doctor and his staff. Edit: I'm adding my "tips" here so that users who aren't logged in to yelp.com can see all of the Carkner's issues. I go to the Tualatin location. Their office staff is lacking in helpfulness--- one time when my contact order was misplaced and they had told me they would be delivered next-day air ( but they didn't arrive) the office lady said she could bring them to my workplace. I specifically asked her to wait in the lobby and call me to meet her, but instead she barged right into our front office and talked with my workplaces front desk which isn't client-facing and it's against the works rules to have something like that happen. The doctor posts his schedule (including name, dob, diagnosis, phone number and address) on the paper towel holder where patients take out their contacts. I told him that was a violation of HIPPA and he said "that's a stupid rule". They leave their computer unlocked when they leave the patient in the exam room. If you need to steal PHI, this is the place to go! The people here seem nice, but they screw up over and over again. I've stuck with them in order to diagnose a dry- eye issue, but I've had enough! Every contact order I have placed (4 over the past 1.5 years) has been screwed up and delayed. The last set of contacts I ordered was for a 6- month supply and they sent a 3-month supply. They told me they fixed the problem and re-sent the contacts, but now I have a years worth for my left eye and none for my right eye. The insurance lady is cranky and when the regular admin assistant was out of the office, she complained when she had to help me schedule an appointment and even have me the wrong information about paying for shipping. The doctor "Jeff" seems like a nice guy but he doesn't seem too concerned about my eye issues and I had to follow up a bunch if times before he diagnosed me with dry eyes and prescribed a medicine that finally worked. If he had listened the first time, we would have got it. he people here seem nice, but they screw up over and over again. GREAT Place for your vision needs for multiple reasons: 1) They rushed & squeezed me into their busy schedule when they found out I lost my ONLY pair of eyeglasses. 2) They also rushed my new pair to be back in only 3 days! 3) Their selection was wide and they were very determined to find the perfect pair that fit for me. I know I am EXTREMELY picky and not easy to please in this dept, but they made it happen. 4) I lost my previous pair while on vacation and returned home w/ an empty eye glass case & wallet. They were very wonderful and worked with me on the payment to make sure I was taken care of. 5) Friendly & personable - you can tell they love what they do. Nice staff, positive experience, but VERY, VERY expensive. I feel it is a bit of a swindle to not disclose pricing for anything until you are done. I got an eye exam ( I have 20/20 vision) and a pair of NIKE sunglasses for $500! A pair of $20 Fred Meyer specials would be just as good. Buyer Beware! read more

It has taken way too long to get my glasses. I finally scheduled an appointment to pick them up and they cancelled it an hour before the appointment and now I have to wait even longer to pick up my glasses. I am very dissatisfied. read more

while the people here are well-intentioned, the service was unsatisfactory. Three pairs of glasses had to be returned because of laboratory errors. Another pair of glasses was said to be mailed but was found a week later on the floor or some much place. I've worn glasses for decades but have never experienced such difficulty trying to get a decent pair of progressives without lab mistakes (improper RX, improper edging, wrong tint, etc). My latest email asking for a record was ignored. My partner also had problems with his glasses that they made. read more

I think the service at Carkers is excellent. The front office and insurance liaison people are friendly and knowledgeable, and the doctors and optician are great. We had one issue with a pair of glasses taking a long time to come from the lab, but they were responsive once we started calling about the delay. read more

They've always been responsive to phone or email contacts, have a good turnaround time on orders, and will generally be able to get me in on fairly short notice. My daughter, now in her mid-20s has been a patient there since 2005. Last year I decided to also use their clinic for my eye exam and glasses. I have always found the atmosphere a little snooty and arrogant but looked past that because they seemed nice when you actually talk with the doctor. December of 2012 we made an appointment for late Dec. 2013. We got a reminder card and I confirmed the appointment. A few days before our scheduled appointment I got a call that said my insurance was not valid. My employer had in fact changed insurance companies since my previous visit. They asked me to call with new insurance information. It was the holidays, I was busy, and I did not call back, expecting to just give them my insurance card when we arrived for our appointments. When we arrived we were informed that even though we had confirmed our appointments our appointments had been cancelled because I did not call in my insurance information. I tried to explain that the appointments really had nothing to do with the insurance. The insurance was to pay for the services rendered and as always I would pay the extra several hundred dollars out of pocket because the insurance never covers enough anyway. We were chastised for not calling in and told again that they had cancelled our appointments. The receptionist said she would talk with the doctor and see if we could be worked in. After 45 minutes I went up to the receptionist to check when we might be seen by the doctor and she looked up at me and said they would not see us. NEVER GOING BACK!!! Found a new eye doctor, got new appointments for the next day and they were thrilled to have us. This place does not value your business. Take is somewhere else. read more
