If I wanted to spend $2500 on a $800 computer I would buy a Mac. I went into a PC laptops store in Orem the other day after hearing their radio ads for years. I'm not a computer expert, but I know enough to know that they are a complete rip off. I went over my needs and "built" a computer with them that would suit my purposes. It was going to be a desktop with an i5 processor, 8 gigs of ram, a 256 ssd, and a low end graphics card...and yes, they said this would be $2500... That's absolutely insane. Then they (I was talking with one of the sales guys and the store manager) began some aggressive and sketchy sales tactics which really turned me off, and they straight up lied about prices for various computer parts when I began asking them some more technical questions. (I've personally upgraded ram, hard drives, etc. before in computers I've owned so I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff). When they began realizing I wasn't completely illiterate with computers they were only left with the selling points of "we only use the highest quality parts" and their service/warranty plan.The longer I was there the more "bs" flags kept popping up in my mind. I can understand the value in having a good warranty and service plan, and after reading the PC Laptops' CEO responses to bad reviews here on yelp and google I believe that at least he cares about the customer's experience, but as a whole I really feel like the company is just taking advantage of people who don't know anything about computers. If you aren't computer literate and hear them say a bunch of big fancy words that you don't understand, coupled with them trying to scare you by saying if you buy a $500 computer you'll just have to replace it in a year (as opposed to their computer which last "ten or more years") it could be really convincing and you could waste 2 grand. The reality is for $2500 I could go online and build myself a desktop that's 5 times as powerful as the one they quoted me on and still have PLENTY of leftover money for any service/replacement parts I would need in the years to come. Yes, that's right for YEARS to come, because unlike they tried telling me - unless you surf porn 24/7 and infest your computer with viruses/malware and don't know how to do a system restore your computer will last way longer than a year. read more

I have purchased several computers from PC Laptops over the last five years or more. I have always been pleased with their service. They have always been professional and provided the services I have expected and hoped for. My computers have been used for both home and business. When at home, I like to use my computer for gaming and therefore have wanted to insure that my computer(s) could handle the requirements of the individual games. I have lived in Utah for the last 23 years and found myself needing to move to Texas for business purposes about four months ago. The one thing that I knew I would miss, would be the ability to take my computer(s) to PC Laptops if necessary. Upon moving to Texas I have found myself extremely busy and not having much time for gaming until about a week ago. I found it nice to spend some time playing again and decided to purchase The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Now, the main reason for this posting: After purchasing Skyrim, I found that my computer would not allow me to download the game. My computer was giving me fatal error codes 2503 and 2502 and at that point quit the download. I then contacted four different computer repair companies of which all four stated that they could not solve my problem. I was beside myself. So, last night, Saturday, December 6, 2014, I decided to call PC Laptops in Utah. I expected to leave a message because of the late our. To my surprise, someone answered the phone and helped walk me through the entire process so to install my program. I had to go into programs and tabs that I would never have known how to do myself. I was able to solve the issue which was prohibiting my download and then proceeded to download steam and my game as well. I was one happy camper. I have final exams this week at BYU and today out of the blue my laptop wouldn't turn on and was making a funny buzzing sound when I plugged it in. I tried to find a solution online with no luck. I took it to the department store where I purchased it and they were clueless. When all seemed lost and I was ready to resort to accepting permanent failure of the hard drive, I came to the specialists at PC Laptops. Now I wish they would have been my first stop. Upon walking in the door, I was immediately greeted by Brett H. I explained the symptoms and my desperation and while he confirmed it was an unusual scenario, he proceeded to take me to his work station where he examined, diagnosed, and eventually solved my issue. Instead of the worst case hard drive, it actually was a simple issue with internal charging port being slightly out of place. He only had to spend 10-15 mins to discover the issue. He then spent a few more minutes ensuring that there weren't any other issues my laptop and bid me on my way. The best part of all, he was gracious enough to do all this for me without charging the diagnosis fee. As a poor college student, I could not have been more grateful. My computer was saved and my day was made. I would've had no way of finding the issue on my own and obviously neither would have the store I bought it at. I have only good things to say about Brett and the rest of the crew working at the time (Shad and Tyler R.). I honestly cannot express how impressed and how grateful I am for their time and expertise. The customer service was fantastic. There is no longer any doubt in my mind where I will go for any computer issues or questions I have in the future. The store manager helped me. First time customer. I wanted Windows 7 reinstalled on my deceased father's old desktop computer. I have some favorite expensive software that does not work in the Windows 10 environment. The old set up would work well for those applications. He readily agreed to install the preferred OS. And the cd drive would not even open. I had used it in recent weeks but it clearly was not working now. He recommended I purchase a new machine. Because I had driven early in the morning from Cedar to Orem to allow a full day to reinstall on the old machine, I had wanted to return home the same day EOB. I asked how long it would take for the new machine and the manager told me it would be ready the next day. I explained my desire to head home that evening and he said, "I will make that happen." He immediately called the dude in charge of picking up parts at the warehouse location, giving him dets on my order - he returned with my parts and I picked up my machine by 3pm. The usual overnight testing was skipped with the idea that if I had any problems at all, I could return another time for immediate assistance. I have not had any troubles and really enjoy the machine. He loaded the option to install W-10 for the day when I will really need it with the appropriate product codes so I will have a valid version when the time comes. I gotta be honest, folks! At first I thought I had made a huge mistake in purchasing from PC Laptops. I was frustrated & unhappy for a few weeks after purchase. Thing is, however, I eventually came to realize my problems were NOT with PC Laptops. Not at all. My problems had to do with Microsoft. I'm a new Windows 8.1 user; and I'm STILL adjusting. The crew at PC Laptops did a superior job of listening to my woes as I complained about how my new laptop was "acting up" and how I hated it ... blah blah. It probably took lots of patience to put up with me & my complaints since during this initial time I was mis-directing my wrath. Extra kudos to Gustav. Bless his heart. This review is simply to tell the world this crew really does care .. just like they claim in their ads. They really tried hard to listen to my problems and to help make them go away. There is nothing wrong with my new laptop. Not at all. It's a top quality product. My only regret is that I had not wasted so much of their time complaining about the behavior of 8.1 (which I still hate). Thanks crew for all your help. I recommend PC Laptops. This place is amazing!! I am a first time customer to PC Laptops. My wife dropped her computer which caused it to break. We initially took it another computer place to have it repaired, but after 3 weeks it was returned to us with a large bill and still didn't work. We then took it to PC laptops on the recommendation of a friend. Brett Harris, one of the computer techs immediately sat down identified the problem and then worked to get the problem fixed. He knew we needed our computer fixed quickly so he stayed 45 minutes after the store closed to get the computer fixed. It ended up needing a part ordered in so we didn't get it that night, but we were extremely impressed at the level of customer service we received. When we got the bill we were thankful it was much less than we had expected and our computer has been trouble free since then. We also appreciated that when we went to pick up the computer Brett sat down with us and turned it on and let us see that everything was in great working shape. On Saturday, 13 February, I finally decided to get around to backing up my many files on my computer. When I pulled out my external hard drive I couldn't find my USB cord. The cord had some unique characteristics and any old USB cord would not do. Early in the day I went to a couple of local stores and they did not have the type of cord I needed. They suggested I go to PC Labtops. I had a number of other activities planned for the day, so I finally was able to head back out in the evening. At 7:03 I arrived at PC Labtops only to find out they closed at 7:00. Somewhat frustrated, I went to the front door anyway. When I pushed on the door, it was not locked. I was greeted very kindly despite entering the store after hours. Blake, one of the technicians, asked what he could do for me. I told him and he went in the back and came out with the type of cord I needed. It was used but still in good shape. He told me there would be no charge for the cord and appreciated me coming in. Our iMac stopped working. We worked with Apple customer care over the phone. They were not able to help us and set an appointment with Apple store. We drove to the Apple store and met with customer service at the "genius" counter. They basically did the exact same thing that they had us do over the phone. Very disappointed after visiting the Apple store that they couldn't fix the computer. We then went to Simply Mac in Orem. We met with Jake and told him what was going on. We were very excited when he told us it would only be 2 day wait for them to start working on the computer. The very next day Simply Mac called us and said our computer was fixed! They had also backed up the hard drive. The customer service at Simply Mac is awesome. With the experience we had I would highly recommend this store to everyone. Okay, so I'm a college freshman who's completely experiencing culture shock, home sickness, and abnormally high levels of stress. I thought my world was completely finished when my laptop decided to keel over. I freaked out and went to my father first, and when he realized that this computer issue was way out of his depth, he did some research and tried to find a place for us to send my laptop. This place was one of our top picks, and it's easy to see why! Going in, I was terrified (because like I said, I'm a lame-o freshman). I am fairly new to PC Laptops but I consider myself a lifetime customer. I moved here from Florida in 2010. I was using an HP with Windows 8. In finally crashed and I went to a local PC shop who sold me a new PC with windows 10. After just 14 months the hard drive crashed. A local repair man repaired it but told me that it was an old computer with catabolized parts. After one more year it died. I went to PC Laptops and bought the finest PC that I have ever owned. No high pressure. No gimmicks. 5 star backup and service. And I know that a lot of the older generation bring their old PCs to see if they can be saved. I appreciate their patience with me. And when I need personal advice or coaching or a quick fix on my accidentally deleting their Super Anti Spyware, they provide an immediate fix. On December 26th my Dad's computer hard disk decided to die. Another bad experience with a Seagate hard drive. I spent the day researching hard drives and trying to figure out what drive would be best to get his computer up and running for more than 18 months as was the case with the last two Seagate hard drives. I called PC Laptops and talked with Tyler in the Orem store. He was awesome and helped me figure out that Western Digital Black was a more robust hard drive. I hunted around town and online to find one and in the end PC Laptops in Orem was the only place that could get me one immediately, which I needed. Alvin and I pulled up and I was pulling stuff out of the backseat when a young man said, "Welcome to PC Laptops, may I help you? Can I carry that bag for you? What is your name?" Wow, I told him who I was there to see and when we walked into the store he called out Ryan's name and said, "Candace Salima is here to see you." Great shop to get quality PC builds. I was impressed by the dedication of the team that helped me get a great machine. One of the things that influenced me quite a bit is the lifetime warranty they offer on their PCs. That kind of guarantee really underscores the confidence they have in the build quality of their computers. The fit and finish of the machine I got was impressive and I would recommend them to others. They are pricey, but where else are you going to get a lifetime warranty on your machine along with several physical locations you can just drive to without needing to mail your machine in? If you're interested in a new computer (desktop or laptop; they do both), then do yourself a favor: Go by and see if they're a good fit for you. About four months ago, I had a computer built through PC Laptops. I wasn't approved for financing and there was an issue with getting my deposit back. This issue was resolved(albeit it took a while) and they went the extra mile and turned my negative experience with them into something that I'm happy about. The guys at PC Laptops went out of their way to make me happy, hooking me up with some kewl tech. There's always going to be issues that arise amongst us humans, regardless of the environment or situation. I'm impressed with PC Laptops because they recognized that and took care of it like a responsible business should. I'm changing my 1 star rating to a 4 star rating because of how my issue was handled and the fact that what was done to fix the issue was above and beyond the original issue. I took my GPS to your store in Orem which needed a battery replacement. I did not have the tools necessary to replace the battery. I thought perhaps a computer store would have the required tools to take apart the GPS and replace the battery. I was greeted at the store by Chad, Store Manager and he immediately went in to action and found the tools to take apart the GPS and replace the battery. Chad demonstrated remarkable customer service during the entire process and treated me with kindness and courtesy that I truly appreciated. He recognized me as a regular customer with PC Laptops which made me proud to be a long customer with PC Laptops. I went to PC Laptops recently just to ensure I'd installed my CPU correctly since I'd built my own machine, and the technicians there were kind enough to take a look into it. In the process, we discovered that my power supply was been dead upon arrival. After receiving a new one, I was having issues booting, so I took it back in to Nic Niver, who had been helping me from the get-go. He did an excellent job of making sure that my system was set up properly and that I had everything I needed for my animation-related computer needs. He was incredibly friendly and personable and had my system up and running faster than I'd expected him to. I took my computer in after my husband installed a new video card and our monitor wasn't getting any signals. Everyone stopped what they were doing to serve us, and Trinitye got our computer fixed very quickly. It turned out there wasn't anything major wrong--just a few cables loose here and there. But he went beyond just making sure our computer wasn't broken. He optimized the boot-up speed and helped us install the driver for the video card, making sure we knew what we were doing before we left. And we had a good time talking with him about MMOs while we waited for things to get installed. They didn't charge a thing for the 15-20 minutes of attention they gave us. I'm a fan. It was Saturday evening when my computer crashed and i am partially in business for myself as a genealogist who uses the computer for work every day.
