Wonderful experience. I had an incident where my laptop stopped working, went to them since I lived down the street. I called ahead and basically parked and they picked up my device from my car for me. Within an hour they were performing a diagnostic on my device and provided me honest and useful information via text with pictures so that it was easier for me to understand. As a technical support agent, I really appreciate honest and prompt assistance. Although my device was pretty much fried, due to it being purchased as refurbished, they did not try to badger me or up sell me. I will now recommend their services to anyone with laptop issues. We found out about PC ALTERNATIVES online. My daughter left her laptop on the floor and it was stepped on accidentally. the screen was cracked and the toolbar was flickering. First time going to a pc repair place. They were unable to recover Windows 8 on my pc after it crashes for an unknown reason. The rep I dealt with was very friendly and helpful but it bothered me that I never actually talked to the tech that worked on my pc. They seemed a bit high priced as well, but since I have nothing to compare to, not sure. read more

I have been in contract with this company for 12 years as IT support and back up for my company. Their service in the last two years has declined and is horrible. I have made 6 calls inquiring of the back up of our company computers since we do not receive a weekly report and no one in company has been able to provide me this information for 3 months now but I pay their bills. I have asked for the weekly back up reports but still have not received anything. They may be OK to repair a computer if you walk in the door but for large business support they are very poor!! read more

This place is horrible. Horrible customer service and prices. I left this place more confused about what to do with my computer than I did coming in. They rip you off so hard. They quoted me $75 to "fully diagnose" what was wrong with the computer. I took it to my neighbor and he took apart my computer in a few minutes for free. I don't claim to be a tech expert but I can do my own (small) repairs. However when my laptop's hinge broke I didn't feel comfortable doing the repair myself so I found a reputable computer repair business to do it for me. I dropped my laptop off on a Wednesday morning and picked it up the following Wednesday. I suppose broken hinges don't come around too often so they had to order the part and given the Labor Day weekend the wait wasn't too bad. For me it was money well spent. The cost was explained and was very fair. If I could give 4.5 star, then I would as the following reasons may seem trivial and hair-splitting to others. Both times I went to their location I was there shortly after 10 (when they open) but the door was locked. Most of their customers probably aren't coming right after they open but I'm a stickler for promptness. I dropped my computer off with a full battery and picked it up with a completely depleted one. The hinge repair didn't require power to be on so this puzzled me. I understand they would need to check the power in ensure everything was working after the repair but why was it completely dead? Could just me being possessive of my laptop. This last one is more of a suggestion. Not all customers are on the same level. Great customer service involves speaking with the customer, gauging their understanding, and adjusting yourself accordingly. So my suggestion to PC Alternatives is that they do this better. Despite telling Matt that I was experienced with smaller repairs and computers in general, I was still spoken to as though I didn't know how to properly shut down a computer (something he actually asked me when I shut my laptop to leave). In their defense, I imagine their range of customers more often falls closer to the later. Overall, I'm pleased with the repair and service in general. I'm likely to bring my husband's computer in to have a WiFi issue taken care of but it's his computer so it's his call. read more

I went to this location for the first time a week ago, and I am very satisfied with the service. I kept getting an error message on my laptop saying I needed to get the fan replaced, and it was causing unpredictable crashes every time I used it. I went to other locations before I went here to get the fan replaced, and they all told me that the model of my laptop was too old to have it replaced, charging me just to inspect the laptop and fan. I decided to try one last location, this one, and it turned out there was a different issue with the fan, not that it needed to be replaced. Since my visit, I have been using my laptop regularly, and not a single error message has popped up. I am glad that they were able to detect the REAL issue and also for a reasonable price. In addition, the service was outstanding and welcoming, and my laptop was fixed within hours of dropping it off. Overall, I highly recommend this place, and I'll be returning if I have any computer issues in the future. read more

So when it comes to matters like this I like to give it time to see if the service is really up to par. I took my laptop here a few months ago and it is functioning better than ever. Just a little background...it is an older Toshiba that I hadn't used in years. It needed about 300 updates and it had viruses galore. Took them about a week to fix it. Run...Run....Run! Non-Disclosure & Deceitful billing practices basically summarize the services offered by this company. Along with that I just discovered that the owner, Matt Normant, is actually the one that has written most of the positive reviews that I saw online that convinced me to do business with this company. He is writing his OWN reviews...which is not allowed by the way...and is DECEITFUL...everything this company is about! If you don't believe me...go to citysearch.com & look at the reviews for this company by clicking on the "Around the Web" recommendations or go to judysbook.com & you will see that it lists 11 reviews all by Matt N for his OWN company, PC Alternatives. Anyways...on to my REAL experience with them. I was completely blindsided by the invoice that was just over DOUBLE what he originally quoted me. When we talked on the phone he said that there fee structure was $129 FLAT FEE regardless of how long it takes to fix the problem. During the first phone conversation, Matt who is the owner, agreed to match the price quote I had gotten from another competitor for a FLAT FEE of $99. However, when I got the invoice before the work was complete he had erroneously charged me $149, which included $129 (not the $99) and a $20 travel fee that had never been previously discussed or disclosed. When I contacted him to discuss the discrepancy in the billing he claimed that he 'forgot' about the agreement to price match and must have 'forgot' to mention the travel fee as well. I was willing to acquiesce that he really had forgotten to mention the travel fee if he was still willing to honor the original price match quote. The work that was discussed was done, and afterwards I received a bill...not for the $119 agreed upon (which included the travel fee) but for $204!!!! He actually listed the "flat fee" of $99, $20 travel charge and....get this....then charged me a separate "on-site technical support" fee for $85.00. I called him immediately about this, and he had enough nerve to say that because it took more than 1 hour (it took 2 hrs) they charged me the tech support fee. I told him that that is not what a FLAT FEE is, and that he should have let me know that. He also said that they did 'additional work' not previously discussed. This is 100% absolutely FALSE. Everything that was done had been mentioned in our verbal conversation that occurred not even 1 hr before his tech, Sean, came to do the work. I told him that if anything that was done was not covered by the flat fee that I should have been made aware of that BEFORE the work was done...not after. That's akin to a car repair shop fixing your car and charging you for the 'extra' work they did without even telling you about it beforehand, telling you how much it would cost, or asking whether or not you want to proceed. WARNING...Do NOT....EVER....trust this company to do work for you!!! Deceitful, Deceitful, Deceitful billing practices is all I can say! read more
