#9A. Grilled Shrimp Sandwich
Max G.

I love grabbing lunch here! Quick service, good food, never too crowded, and the staff is always so friendly! I come here whenever I can and I get the grilled shrimp or beef sandwich and its always sooo good. Its not a traditional banh mi (i love a dac biet though) but its so delicious I can never pass it up. AND ITS A GOOD PRICE!!!!

Family of 13 visiting San Diego. Late night dinner. Everything was fantastic. From the pho to the rice meals, especially the short ribs! Well worth the trip. The servers were so nice and attentive too. WILSON IS AWESOME!!! Nice place. We will definitely visit again when we visit SD.

Honestly this is one of the better pho places I have tasted in San Diego. It was next to the gym I was working out at and the first thing I tasted the broth and it was flavorful, the meat was really good and the noodles didn't seem over cooked. Over a 5! My waiter was super nice and the cashier looked like he was having fun talking to a group of girls that were seated next to me. I would for sure come back!

PB Pho & Grill is a perfect late night spot when craving pho. I like that they're open late and when I went there wasn't any wait to be seated. The egg rolls were very good and the wrapper was so thin that it had a satisfying crunch. The pho had a good flavor and I really enjoyed their chili paste they included on the counter in addition to the classic hoisin/sriracha combo. I only take away one star because the service was quite slow once we were seated. Our water cups were never refilled and we had to flag our waiter down for the check despite being one of two parties in the restaurant. It seems like they might be a hot spot for food delivery services though so I would definitely be open to order through that method! All in all it's a great spot if you're craving pho in the PB area.

Classic Vietnamese food in Pacific Beach! Pho is my go-to when I need a recovery meal from a late night of hanging out with friends. This place was near us and was much needed from the night before. Came here for a lunch and there were plenty of tables and service was quick and friendly. I got #14 - Rare Steak and Brisket and came with a good amount of meat for the noodles. Ambiance was nice and clean too.

Thai Tea Smoothie !!!

THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD !!! I come to PB Pho & Grill on my lunch break every other day and order spring rolls and Thai Tea w/Boba - service is great and food is top tier. Right next to Dave's Hot Chicken

I don't go to the PB area but after attending mass at Saint Brigid's it was a cold Sunday night and we were hungry. The nice part about Sunday night was it was kinda quiet in Garnet and parking was a lot easier. When I was in college at UCSD, going to PB was fun and the excitement of youth overrode the hassles of parking. Now I'm just old and grumpy. My favorite pho dish is pho bo kho and I have to say this is the best I've had so far. I a rich beef stew with a tomato based broth with carrots. I find it packs more flavor than the usual say pho tai broth. What really impressed me was their beef cuts. The beef was very tender and most importantly to me was that it was well trimmed. I hate having giant chunks of fat or cartilage stuck to the meat. I mean back in the day I'd chew the fat down but that ain't too good for me now at my age. Their meat was perfect. The noodles were a pretty good portion. My fam got their usual orders and nobody complained. We did try their take on nem nuong cuon, pork sausage rolls. They were good but we hold Brodard's version as the gold standard. Service was super fast and friendly. Very welcoming. I wasn't too keen on the structure itself. They had a glass sliding door and it was not doing a good job of keeping the pretty cold night air from blasting in especially as people were going in and out. I get I had steaming hot pho in front of me but that only helped so much. It's pretty spacious with a lot of tables. I can't imagine how packed it would be on a Friday or Saturday night but then again I'm not going to PB on a Friday or Saturday night at my age. Those days are long gone. But in some future quiet Sunday evening I do expect to return for a phenomenal bowl of pho bo kho.

First time having pho in San Diego County. Probably better than I thought. Broth: Not complex but clean broth. They either added too much lime on their own or I'm gonna get sick. Find out in a little bit. Rare Beef: Overcooked. Was dry and chewy. It came already cooked in the bowl. Not the usual where it's slowly getting cooked or raw still when they serve you the bowl. Meat Balls: Definitely came straight out of the freezer packaging. Still had the hard edges on it from the frozen package. Egg Rolls: Two small roll. Probably size of a one normal one together. Despite it being made with chicken, I thought it was really good. Cafe Sua Da: Definitely on the bitter end with no real taste of the condensed milk.

Solid Vietnamese spot near the beach area that serves a variety of pho dishes as well as viet noodle and rice dishes. I had the traditional grilled pork and egg rolls vermicelli bowl and it definitely hit the spot.

I have been here for about 3 days in a row and it was always a hit. The Owner is always polite and always greets me as i walk in. There is a lot of space for sitting so if you decide to bring a large group they have tables for that. It is definitely an affordable spot since everywhere in PB is pretty expensive. Besides that, the food is very good and I will be here definitely sometime this week!

#5. Grilled Pork Rolls- 2 Rolls

So nice we went twice. We had dinner here and came back for lunch the following day because we liked it so much. For dinner, we had spring rolls, spicy beef stew pho, and chicken pho. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The beef stew is a richer version of normal pho, with chunks of tender brisket. Very yummy. The broth is not too salty, and the portions are good. For lunch the following day, we had grilled pork summer rolls. Also really good. The service is quick and courteous. The dining room is kind of dark. They have limited seats outside. Overall really good authentic Vietnamese fare.

So, I'll leave a legitimate review along with pictures. Initially, we were ambivalent about trying this place due to the high prices but they also have an exceptional rating on Google and Yelp. 4.9 on both Google and Yelp, that's rare. We bit the bullet and headed there. Parking can be tough but luckily we found parking in front of the restaurant. It was free after 8 pm on a Tuesday. If you go earlier or on the weekends, I would read the parking sign more carefully. There might be free street parking on the left side behind the restaurant. Don't quote me on that. Like I said, parking is not as easy as other places in SD. There are quite a bit of tables to sit in. It wasn't busy when we went. Yes, they do have a very large menu with like 1,000 items. We are not vegetarian or vegan but we have tried vegan places in Denver, CO. We ordered eel Helen pho roll, crispy beef chestnut and pineapple banh mi, and duck wonton noodle soup. The owner also gave us complimentary desserts, vegan corn pudding and vegan creme. She also gave us cookies and two cups of that delicious special water to go. That special water is hands down one of the best drinks I've ever had. Prices range $22-30. -eel Helen pho roll 5 - not real eel but this was very tasty. I like that the rolls don't fall apart easily. -crispy beef chestnut and pineapple banh mi 5 - the bread has a crispy exterior and the inside is moist. The chestnuts and pineapple really pair well together. I devoured this fast. -duck wonton noodle soup 5 - I really like the broth and the noodles. -vegan corn pudding 5 - this has corn with some coconut. It's a light dessert. -vegan creme 5 - this tastes like the real thing. I honestly wanted more.

The space is beautiful with that SoCal casual fancy (love it, hate stuffy dressed up fancy atmospheres). The staff were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, definitely were helpful in making informative recommendations. The efforts put in are Michelin level. They notified us multiple times of the automatic 20% tip that's shared with all staff which I'm honestly fine with. We got the Pig Ears Salad (recommended by the bartender, the best, most surprising dish, 100%, will never find this anywhere else in the world), eggplants (they were still good and plentiful but not our favorite), and the dry aged duck ($$$$, the confit duck made me uncontrollably laughed and gnaw on the bones praying to extend the moment). I will always get the pig ear, and I was initially skeptical of the price of the duck but left feeling it was worth it. We left with leftovers and it's a good amount of food. Overall, excellent meal, great service, so happy it's at a point that we can do walk ins, and will be back!

Executive Chef David Sim and his team serve vibrant, family-style dishes alongside an extensive cocktail and wine program. THE FOOD * Chicken Wings: Marinated in fish sauce, fried, and coated in a sweet and sour tamarind glaze. Served hot with crumbled peanuts and garlic on top. The accompanying toasted coconut ranch, chili sauce, and house-made pickled vegetables provide a nice contrast. * House-Made Egg Noodles: These noodles have a good chew and body. They are prepared with a lemongrass peanut sa te sauce, a light amount of chilis, green vegetables, Chinese sausage, and sliced green onions. The dish is finished with a soft-poached egg in the center and thin, dried black truffle slices. * Smoked Dry-Aged Duck: The duck is aged for 14 days and then smoked before undergoing a final treatment that produces a crisp, flavorful skin. It features both a crispy leg confit and a sliced, juicy, tender breast. Served with cilantro, lettuce, and rice noodles. The dish includes peanut and fish sauces, and the duck pairs notably well with the lemongrass peanut sa te sauce from the egg noodles. ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE During a late afternoon visit, the vibe was relaxed and comfortable. The dining room is very trendy, built around a large, decorative bar featuring striking copper-colored light arches and accents. Service was attentive and observant; Maria, our server, managed the meal very well. Note: A 20% service fee is automatically applied to all checks and is split evenly among the restaurant staff.
