    Fried Tofu Gai Tod
    Allison L.

This place was decent, I just wish there was a little more. Stopped by after a long day at the beach. I tried the fried tofu, gai tod (fried chicken), and beef pad see ew. Gai Tod -- These were boneless. They had a nice seasoning to them and my boyfriend really liked them. I do wish they did a more traditional bone-in fried chicken. The sauce that it came with surprised me. It was very thick, almost a corn syrup texture. I've never had anything like it. Fried Tofu -- Bleh. That's what it tasted like. No seasoning whatsoever. Literally just tofu... fried. They should do something more with this. Maybe a salt n pepper tofu. Regretted getting this. Beef Pad See Ew -- The noodles were soft. Beef was tender. Not much veggies and mainly thick stems that were bitter. Besides the veggies, no complaints. The restaurant was big, tall ceilings, lots of plants. Organic modern and a little industrial. You order at a register up front and then find a seat with the number they sign they give you. We had a big party and it got confusing fast. The man bringing out the food wasn't really looking at our numbers and was just calling out the dishes which was confusing bc some of us ordered the same or similar dishes. The man at the front register (I think he had glasses) was nice.

We walked in and it was empty, but many pick up orders came in after us. The guy greeted us when we walked in and explained the menu and had a cool vibe. The interior is absolutely beautiful and the pond(?) thing outside was also cool!! The food was great the only thing was the spring rolls and the Tom Kha Soup was super hot for the entire meal but I much prefer that over it going cold so that was a plus. Also we all ordered it medium but we couldn't really taste any spice so we would def do hot or extra hot. Although they give you so many extra sauces to customize it so I loved that as well!! The food itself I personally loved. We got three entrees, crispy spring rolls, and a Thai iced tea. Drunken noodles with chicken: my brother ordered this and for him it wasn't his favorite drunken noodles but when I tried it I loved it!! Pretty basil forward (again I loved it) and everything was cooked well, chicken was super tender. Tom Kha Noodle Soup: this was mine! Again different from how I think I've had before in that it was a super thick broth? The ones I've had have a much stronger coconut broth and it's pretty creamy and thick but this one was a little more mild but had great flavor!! I don't typically like a strong thick coconut base so probably why I loved this one more. Got it with soft tofu (much preferred over fried) and everything was great. Took it home for leftovers. A smaller portion than some restaurants but was perfect sized for us. Massaman chicken curry: my dad's and it was also finished up and wonderful! Everyone liked this one and it was quite a big serving. Kinda tasted a bit similar to tomato soup but in a this had extra seasonings and stuff good way. Crispy spring rolls were good!! The sauce that was served with it was hella sticky and thick but I liked the flavor of that. Thai iced tea was phenomenal. Not super sweet or extra creamy it was more tea forward which is something I always love.

This is a nice thai spot in Pb, was fairly empty around lunch time for a dine in. Easy to order and delicious food. Pad see ew 5/5 spice was decent not the spiciest but it was good still. Their pad thai was spot on and overall portion size was very chill for lunch. Their spring roll and side sauce is so good that was a standout for a usually no frills appetizer elsewhere. Recommend for quick lunch sesh or even just a chill pick up in Pacific Beach.

Ordered from uber eats, has got to be the worst Thai food I've ever had. The massaman curry was trash, I can't even describe why it was horrible. The chicken and flavor was disgusting. The pad see ew might have been worse, the beef was gray, sad and chewy. I can't believe the rating of this place. Cereal for dinner instead

a cute and casual thai spot in the heart of pb. you order at the front and seat yourself, and they bring the food out to you. ambiance is very laid back and easy going, and i'm a big fan of the plants. the pad see ew with chicken was delicious and i enjoyed every bite! one of the best pad see ew's i've had in san diego. however, note that the portion sizes are a bit small in my opinion (especially compared to the price - $12.95 + tax and tip for this dish). also, they serve the food on plastic/disposable plates which isn't the most sustainable and kind of takes away from the ambiance. however, if you're looking for a quick bite and craving yummy thai food, i would definitely recommend! it seems like much of their business is take out as well. i would recommend 55 thai kitchen and come back for other dishes :)

I'm not gonna lie, the first time I came here a couple months ago I was a bit disappointed. I'd heard really good things, and I was expecting it to be quite so.. casual I guess? But this time I knew what I was getting, and it was much more enjoyable. This food isn't going to blow you away, but it's tasty and very cheap for SD. I got chicken pad see ew, a good sized portion, for like $14. It came over very quickly. It was a little greasy, and could've had more broccoli, but the chicken was yummy and the noodles were cooked well. The wooden tables are cute. The guys who work here are nice. Not a bad spot at all.

What a great spot for Thai food in Pacific Beach. It is one of the gems that I would say is worth visiting because it fed my whole family for a pretty good price. The crispy spring rolls were pretty good and crisp. The green curry was a surprising star because of the spicy of coconut and squash. We also got Tom Kha soup in the side of brown rice and steamed vegetables. I would skip the Massaman curry because it was a little too sweet for my taste. Worth a visit.

The PB location is located off of garnet with big tables great for groups... why do pizza when you can do Thai food. If you are a carbi-barbie do it with 55 Thai Kitchen, their downtown location looked closed with a fence and graffiti infront, so go to the PB location as it's outfitted with quick service, hot fresh food and the staff is super nice.

I came here on a Friday afternoon around 2pm as I used to work by the 55 Thai Kitchen downtown (it closed) and I ordered from there a lot and have fond memories of the food. The interior is huge. There is plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating (plus koi pond). There is a lot of greenery and water feature with plants. I walked to the counter and ordered thai fried rice (cause I am basic and it is what I always ordered and liked the best). To my surprise it came with a spring roll included. After a short wait I got my food. It was steaming hot! Fresh out the kitchen. But then I tasted it and it tasted burnt. I was hungry so I ate it but was disappointed as the only flavor was char/burnt. The chicken did not seem seasoned at all and it was overall very lackluster and not how I remembered it. It was a pain to get here as it is on the outskirts of PB and street parking nearby is hard to find. I parked about a half a mile away and walked and was really looking forward to it and it was just disappointing. Which I guess is a good thing as I won't want it again and can avoid the traffic and hassle of getting there.

This is the Thai place that actually got me into Thai coming from someone who hadn't really enjoyed it before. It's super quaint and beautiful with some of the nicest decoration I've seen in a restaurant of such quality. What I find amazing though, and has been a seller for me time and time again, is how cheap the food is and how amazing it tastes. The spring rolls cost 1$ and they're actually huge and delicious. I've had cheap spring rolls that taste alright and soggy, but they're always crunchy and the sauce that accompanies it is always buss. The Pad Thai is good. I don't think i'm fit to be the ultimate judge on authenticity or taste because of my lacking experience with Thai Food, but it's really good and it's what made me try the cuisine again. I really enjoyed the dish though, and I recommend first time triers to get the Kids Pad Thai because it's literally 7.50 USD, in this economy. The portion is also really big relative to how much I'm paying. I think next time I'll go for the full size just because of how much I liked it, but I'm really happy they have these more "trial sized" Thai classics so people who don't know the cuisine aa well can get a proper introduction. But aside from the food, I also love that they have an amazing beverage variety. They have all kinds of soda cans, but it seems like they specialize in the drinks they make there. I've had to limeade and it's really yummy, although I loved the Mango Black Tea I had on this time the most. It was refreshing, and not overly sweet which I love whenever I'm drinking Iced Tea. Try this place out frr, and see if y'all vibe with it, but overallll DAYGOEATSCERTIFIED

Came here for lunch on a Sunday and had the whole place to ourselves. I think the restaurants atmosphere is great-- very open space with huge menu at cashier to look from. I love the casual concept of ordering at the front. I got the drunken noodles with chicken and was pleasantly surprised at how much vegetables they put in. I received way more vegetables than chicken. There were really only three pieces of chicken in my order, but the flavor was good. I will say I ordered it medium spicy but it was not at all spicy to me so I had to ask for chili oil. The staff was friendly and even came by to check on us and if we needed anything. The other sticking point is everything comes in throw away containers. It would be nice if they used plates and silverware to reduce waste.

I asked not to have any spice level added to my food, but the food came out and was just generally lacking flavor. It was very bland and even though there was a generous portion of vegetables in the dish the mock duck was super mushy. All the places I've ever been to it's sautéed crispy. Also, the the noodles were all stuck together. Like if you put noodles in water to let it boil, but you don't stir them and they just boil like that in a clump. The restaurant was very cute inside. Becky is warm, attentive, thoughtful, incredibly detail-oriented, and radiates a kindness that makes every experience feel welcoming and supported. Every interaction with Becky leaves me feeling cared for, respected, and genuinely valued as a customer. The food itself? Absolutely incredible. The chicken fried rice is one of my favorites -- the perfect balance of textures and flavors. Each bite brings together tender, well-seasoned chicken; fluffy rice with that subtle smoky wok aroma; crisp vegetables that still have a slight crunch; and seasoning that hits that sweet spot between savory, aromatic, and comforting. It's one of those dishes that feels simple on the surface but sings with layers of flavor the moment you start eating. The ginger and salmon stir fry is bright, fragrant, and beautifully prepared. The sauce is silky, fragrant with coconut and spices, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and the kind of dish you daydream about afterward. Such vivid and beautiful colors as well. My friend raves nonstop about their mixed seafood stir fries -- generous portions, fresh seafood, bold flavors, and consistently delicious. They also make excellent Thai teas, including a vegan version that is so thoughtful and so appreciated. It's creamy, refreshing, and delicious without sacrificing flavor. The service overall is always warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. It feels even better than how people describe family. The chefs clearly know what they're doing -- every dish comes out tasting like it was prepared with intention and pride. The entire team creates an experience that keeps me coming back again and again. And I love their outdoor patio -- shaded, spacious, and comfortable. It's a relaxing space that makes the meal even better. Thank you, Becky, and thanks to everyone at Sukho Thai for making every visit safe, delicious, and full of kindness. Absolutely one of my favorite spots.

This is my first experience with KinLen. We looked over the menu and saw the descriptions of mostly Thai food on the menu. Bahn Thai is the comparison since that has been our go to. My partner wanted Tom Yum soup, Drunken noodles (preferably with vegetables) and I ordered as a starter crab rangoon cigar roll and for me a fried pork belly. Here are my musings, the Tom Yum soup was good. The crab rangoon should really be better suited to the crunch of wontons (but nice try). The fried pork belly was a little pricey for the amount received since this only came with sauces and no rice. The Drunken noodles were fine but it should also have an option of vegetables to add instead of tofu, chicken or shrimp. Overall, I might try them again sometime if I am in the area. Nothing still beats my go to place. But as Yelpers go, it's always nice to try new places.
