    Double and Rings

You will smell like a cheeseburger when you leave! The small place was packed. Luckily, we got a table. There was a group of 16 ladies having a luncheon and gossip session. They filled the small dining area. Fortunately for us, most of them already had their orders when we walked in. The kitchen staff was hustling. We were orders #26 and 27. Order 22& 23 went to their table; #24&25 was a to-go order. Quickly after that, our orders came out, #26 (regular cheeseburger and fries) and #27 (double cheeseburger and O-Rings) I was surprised, these are hearty cheeseburgers. Good big beef patties, between fresh buns and dressed with L,T,P,O&M. Hold the mayo and I should have said hold the ketchup. A minor slip up and infraction of proper burger protocol on my part. Excellent Burgers. The fries and onion rings, commonly found fast food prepared versions, were perfectly cooked to the proper golden brown It is a small community/neighborhood gas station/store that has been around forever. Friendly service. After our order was served, the cook came out of the kitchen and got involved with the gaggle of ladies as they were finishing their lunch. The burgers at Payton's frequently are caught up in food fights on local foodie blogs. Burger aficionados spar endlessly with polemic comments to defend their favorite "Best burger in Tulsa." It is an unresolvable controversy. I would certainly rate Payton's Corner burgers in the top 10. Try it if you haven't.

Cheeseburger! She couldn't wait for me to take this pic!

If your there for one of the Best Burgers you've ever eaten, you won't be disappointed. Thin but not too thin. Thick but not too thick. Pattie had just enough tasty crunch burnt in! Service: hey if you want to rush through a fast food joint, better leave. You will not regret the moment you walked in the front door and was totally overwhelmed by the smell of burgers cooking on the grill! Took us 40 minutes to get a burger baskets. Get a cold drink and watch the crowd come and go. We saw two Jenks Fire Trucks park out front, along with the Chief in his boss-hawg truck! Bottom line: if it's bringing in a entire station here for a burger, it got to be delicious!

I had read really great reviews on this burger place so tonight we got two burgers to go. I got a cheese burger that I thought would have all the fixins (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion etc) but it was only meat, cheese, mustard, bread. The burger had a good taste to it but was pretty dry. The fries that many people were raving about were mediocre. Dry as well. I'm not sure I understand the hype. To me, it is what I would expect for a gas station burger joint.

Hidden Gem of a burger spot! Tulsa's hot new burger joint! I hit the joint at around 12:30pm and the place was packed. I did enjoy my meal in the small but clean sitting area. Took about 15min to get my burger despite the crowd. People on Facebook food reviews were proclaiming the burgers here were very good and they weren't lying! The kinda burger you know it's good when it runs down your arm! The thing was colossal 100% pure ground beef never frozen and cooked to order. Don't let this humble location fool you. The only downside is their limited seating for large crowds. If too busy to nab a seat, grab it to go or sit in your truck and chow down.

Run-of-the-mill cheeseburger and frozen crinkle-cut fries. Won't be back. Came to try the "best burger in Oklahoma." Nice people.

Oklahoma seems to have a certain pride when it comes to burger joints that keep it simple. Tulsa…read morehas many chains, local restaurants and pop-ups that are familiar and filling. Encroaching on a seemingly crowded market can be tough but somehow Howdy feels like an already-established diner. While many newer burger places attempt to overwhelm the consumer, Howdy Burger's approach seems to be keeping things simple and delivering what the people want while staying true to the "burger joint" identity. I've had Howdy Burger 2 or 3 times through the years. My first visit was likely in/at Mother Road Market but a more recent visit was on October 29th (2025). In the midst of an economic stall (the federal government was shut down for 4 weeks at that point), eating out seemed like a luxury. I visited around 2pm for lunch. The weather was chilly and the staff was readily available. I was greeted and I browsed the menu for about 2mins before ordering. I ended up getting a single burger & rodeo fries. Afterwards, me & the lady cashier had a brief conversation about the state of the world as business was slower than usual. The restaurant isn't huge but it was well maintained. I sat near the West windows and the food came out shortly after. The highlight of the food was easily the burger itself. It was a decent size, the bread was soft, and the patty was just thick enough. Each bite was equally satisfying as they didn't hold back on the toppings. I will say that the fries are pretty standard, even with the extra toppings. I don't think the Rodeo Fries are worth wild but it didn't hurt to try. Lastly, I LOVE the variety of sauces they offer and the staff are happy to add them directly onto the sandwich or place them on the side. I've since returned to have the Fried Chicken Sandwich and it was just as good, if not better, than most famed chicken sandwich spots. I wasn't familiar with Howdy for a while and, as mentioned, there are many other places to get a cheeseburger, sandwich and/or fries. But what I like about Howdy is that they don't try too hard, they know what sells and they offer great service. Considering the price, consistency in their products and good people behind the counter, Howdy Burger is good enough to replace your favorite burger chain and/or fast food spot.

And bing in town on business, I had to go. I went the single meat w/ chz and. Risky FFs. Hanks did not disappoint. Good ol' fashioned juicy chz burger. One where the meat juices mix with the mayo and chz and oh so good. Very filling. And the FFs so crispy. Yo won't be disappointed. Tip: for the best burger deal, get Hank's 1/2 lb special. Way cheaper than buying single patty burger, FFs and drink separate. It's a dbl meat.

The menu is straight forward, straight out of the 60's style, and the place was poppin' at 2:30 in the afternoon. I ordered the Hank's special with cheese and pickles and onions as my only produce. I also ordered tots. I found out later that I could've got them "loaded", which entails tots being smothered in chili and cheese. Next time for sure. My wife had the single with fries. The fries came out piping hot and for simple fries, they were crisp and tasty. My wife's only complaint is the lettuce was wilty, and that is she doesn't like the onions grilled into the burger. That's not a knock on Hank's, just her preference. Me, I love grilled onions on and in my burger. The burger bun was soft and melded with the burger and cheese into a burger nirvana. I look forward to trying their chili cheese tots next time and their milkshakes looked very tasty. We'll be back for sure.

I usually order my food to go, but on one visit I arrived early and spent some time inside. The front area has a small waiting space with decor that gives a bit of history and personality to the place. They also offer beef for purchase, which is a nice touch if you are someone who enjoys cooking at home. I sat at the bar while I waited, and the service matched what I have come to expect from them. Friendly, attentive, and easygoing. The bartender even helped create a drink based on the flavor profile I described. It had a light citrus note with tequila and was very well balanced. As for the food, the onion burger is my favorite. I always add lettuce and tomato, and their burger sauce brings everything together. The flavors are rich without being overwhelming, and the quality of the beef stands out. The fries deserve their own mention. The regular fries are crispy and well done, and the sweet potato fries are just as good, which makes it hard to choose between the two. I usually get the garlic aioli on the side, and it takes everything up another level. The atmosphere is slightly elevated compared to a typical burger spot, especially in the bar area, but still relaxed enough to feel comfortable. It is a place I will keep coming back to whenever I want a burger that feels worth it.
