It feels like stepping back into a classic American burger joint. Even better, it's been serving Route 66 travelers since the 1950s. Happy Burger has become a true Mother Road institution. (TravelOK⁠) My wife and I both ordered the Jumbo Burger special. I swapped my fries for onion rings while she added cheese to her burger and kept the hand-cut fries. We ended up sharing both sides, and I'm glad we did. The burgers were juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. I'm usually pretty critical of hand-cut fries because they often end up limp or undercooked, but these were excellent--crispy outside and soft inside. The onion rings were equally good. The menu isn't huge, but that's often a sign that a restaurant focuses on doing a few things really well, and Happy Burger proves that point. If you're driving Route 66 through Sapulpa, don't just stop for the Passport stamp. Come hungry, enjoy a classic burger, soak in the nostalgic atmosphere, and experience a piece of Oklahoma history. We have eaten there in the past with good results and figured we definitely needed a burger, onion rings and a hand made shake. Our trip down Route 66 was as pleasurable as always and when we arrived at Anchor 66 the parking lot was full. Luckily one table was leaving just as we walked in so we got an immediate seat but here were also stools available at the counter which would have been perfectly fine with us.
