This restaurant has changed hands and is now called 'Chef Dong' (snicker).
Just waiting at the order stand I was getting very excited about this place - it is a beautiful place, it has a really classy look and feel to it and the smells wafting from the kitchen had my mouth watering.
I was here for a Sunday lunch Yum Cha, and I was getting excited. My friend arrives and we were seated and given a menu with the dishes of the day. It was a pick and order affair, where as I enjoy when the staff brings a little cart of delicacies to the table. We ordered a few things (probably over ordered) and waited for the food to arrive.
Not much on the standard menu was anything different than you would expect from your local Chinese take away. Although the prices were considerably higher. Dishes like Lemon Chicken coming in around $20.00.
The dumplings were great, but nothing else stood out. The food was mostly boring, not bad, just nothing to write home (or Yelp) about. The staff also brought out an expensive plate that my friend and I were sure we didn't order. When we asked the staff about this they told us they would bring our menu to show us that is what we ticked. They never did, and avoided our table for the rest of the time we were there, until we asked for the bill.
All in all, this was a let down experience and I wouldn't go back. There are better Chinese restaurants (see some of my other reviews) and better places for Yum Cha. read more
