Mestizo is nestled on the quieter end of Partridge Street where parking doesn't require a prayer-dance before leaving home. The decor is warm and simple, the staff - friendly. Friendly and happy to introduce their menu and dishes to you. Long wooden tables cater to group dining and on this night we were a group of 6. You could gaze over the pass and watch the chefs hard at work in the kitchen. This place has so much passion. The menu is simple - small dish, big dish. We couldn't decide, we didn't want to make a choice, we asked for the ultimate "Feed Me" experience and boy did they deliver. We ended up trying almost everything on the menu and NOTHING was even average. It was 100% fantastic. Brilliant exciting flavours, cooked perfectly, beautiful presentation. It makes me want to move to Peru. I ate ceviche and casava to my heart's content while crispy chicken wings had me licking my fingers. Out came a pork belly dish with flavoured rice, a chef's special pork and chickpeas, beef and more. All fab. As our stomachs were bursting we thought we could stay strong as there was no dessert menu. Ah but there was dessert. The one dessert of the day, served on a cold slab. Great presentation with many elements that come together perfectly. I highly recommend this place.

A Peruvian restaurant with a liquor license contains a rare choice of foods, all of which are delicious. Watch out though, their menus contain a lot of technical jargon which doesn't elaborate on what the words mean. This can leave you with a rather spicy meal! Despite the lack of digital footprint, the restaurant is very busy, often requiring a booking if you want a guaranteed seat. The wait for a table can be quite painful though and you might need to settle for the awkward low tables and slightly higher chairs. The food is minimal but filling and very tasty. There is currently only one desert option and the night we went, they had run out. Several of the food places that are open would benefit from more desert options, otherwise a night desert restaurant would be the next best thing.

Interesting, pretty, inviting and you can see that actual thought was given rather than just plopping it on the plate. I was in a group of 7. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. Staff took the time to chat and smile, share their story of where they were from over taking your order or cracking your pepper! Everyone's food looked delicious. I order the chicken Mediterranean. The saltiness of the mash overpowered the delicate flavours of the apricot and stuffing, but it was still a good meal. Chicken was tender and I had the happy feeling at the end. All that counts right? Lol Save room for desserts and coffee. They have a nice selection. The tiramisu is a good size to share with a friend. Go on....get your romance on. I've only ever been here for coffee on a Sunday afternoon and the coffee is worth a mention but by all accounts they're better known for their Thai Food. They have a good selection of tables inside as well as a small but really cool outside area that is dog friendly. There's just a few tables here but they face onto the street and it's a great spot to watch the world go by on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I will be going back here very soon for a Thai meal. Bringing a hipster vibe to this bright and airy cafe; good coffee, juices and food are the main game. I enjoyed a quick breakfast here with my son about a week ago. The queue was out the door for people seeking a table, no bookings are taken. After only opening a week before, there are a few rough edges to be honed but staff are welcoming and attentive. The menu is not too large and offers a modern range of meals including the ubiquitous smashed av. Our meals were good, although my poached eggs and bacon were a little lacking in flavour and the toast came unaccompanied by butter. My only beef is that $25 for the full bacon and eggs breakfast is over the top. You'd expect to pay $15-$18 for the equivalent elsewhere.

Quite a good amount of seating inside and out, with the option to buy your produce from the adjacent shop. I went with poached eggs and avocado on toast, eggs were cooked perfectly and the avocado mix was beautiful. I grabbed a Go Go goji juice which was delicious also. Friends chose the veggie fritter which was also given the thumbs up. Friendly staff and they were happy to help with your order and despite being busy, our orders came out within a reasonable time frame for a Saturday morning. Definitely worth a look if you are in the Glenelg area and want somewhere a bit quieter than the bustling Jetty Road.

Staff were friendly, and there is plenty of seating - so glad we left before the cyclists arrived though - *shudder* - nowhere is safe from them!!! We also did a bit of shopping next door in the little organic shop - it's only small, so the range isn't massive - but they do stock soap nuts, which I was very impressed with (they are nuts that you use instead of laundry powder - highly recommended!). We also sampled (and bought) some gorgeous sour dough bread made by Small World Bakery, which was delicious. All in all, this is definitely a place we will visit time and time again - yay!
