Several decades down the track I finally decided to go in and was pleasantly surprised. This pub - and yes its still a pub - has just undergone extensive renovations so it's a now a million miles away from that daggy old pub my bus used to go past on the way to Marion Shopping Centre. Great meal. Their roast of the day was sensational! It was roast pork with gravy and instead of mushy pub veg that you sometimes get, I had bok choy, green beans, roast potato and roast carrot. My friend had their Wagyu Beef Burger but wasn't so engrossed with his meal. This time I think he had food envy. FYI, the meals were $17 and $16 respectively. We also scored two pints of pale ale for $10 as we were in the midst of happy hour. We ate in the Verandah Bar which I gather is the equivalent of the old style Saloon Bar. And we also walked through the Tavern Bar which had to be the equivalent of an old Front Bar - lots of blokes having a bet and a beer. Even though their food has moved with the times, this is still a bit of a working man's pub and I in no way mean that in a derogatory sense. I think that's a good thing - a working man needs a good pub to visit at the end of a hard week's work - as does a working woman!

Upon arrival of our meals the manager decided to come to my table and argue with me that the error was mine? Sadly I will not be returning and I will not recommend this place to anyone

However if its atmosphere or class you want give it a miss!! The decor is drab, the seats worn and the carpet threadbare. If you want a beer after work in your overalls this is the place to be. The other half is made up of 50% pokie room, with some limited outdoor seating mainly for the smoking rules. The room is large, bright and noisy with all the pokies being busy! The other 50% is the Bistro. I have eaten here many times and never had a bad meal. The menu is as any other bistro menu and has all the faves. The main selling point of this bistro though is the extensive salad bar included with all meals. Not only salad but also, soup and breads, veg, fruit, sauces....as much as you want! The bistro also includes 4/5 games consoles...im guessing to keep kids occupied. As said earlier...i haven'f had a bad meal here...its not 5 star by any means but it is far from the worst!!
