Called Payless yesterday. David quickly responded. Not an easy job in the crowded space of my garage. In the past, I've replaced the Water Heater myself but I've learned since then that several things needed to be done to bring it up to code. Besides the Water Heater, David added a leak protection pan, audible water alarm system , upgrade gas safety system with valve, new safety straps, and the city permit. He also added a hot water heater expansion tank. David did a professional job. Water Heater is a Bradford White 40 G Natural Gas. Cost for installation and upgrades was $3400 range, read more

Payless Water Heaters - New Water Heater - Water Heater Installation/Repair Near Me

I've been contemplating this review for several months, and then simply forgot to post. A few months ago, our water heater failed, and we thought,, well, this is an inconvenience, but at least it's under warranty. Then, in my opinion, the scam Payless runs was clear. They highlight the warranty during the sale, but they don't tell you the warranty is between Payless and the water heater company, it's not between you and the water heater company. It's in THEIR best interest if the water heater fails. They get the new heater under the warranty, and then charge a significant amount to install the new one, at, essentially the same cost as an entirely new system. I asked if they could drop off the new heater and we would have it installed by a different plumber, for a SIGNIFICANT amount less, and the answer was no. I pushed back on the cost, and they agreed to drop the install fee by $300 (give or take) if we didn't get the required permit. Do NOT purchase a water heater from this company. It is their best interest if it fails. They make 'free' money. Incredibly disappointing. read more

Professional grade is the only way I can explain it. Evan B and Joseph O are both excellent employees. My tankless water heater stopped working and I had no hot water! Booked an online appointment and Evan was there on time and explained everything including up front prices. Later Joseph was there on time and replaced my leaking tankless water heater. I was called by a customer representative informing when each technician would arrive. Old fashioned service like it used to be. Great job and thank you! You have my business from now on! read more

Derek C was great. He arrived on time and was very professional throughout the process. Derek is an asset to Payless Water Heaters.

Payless came out same-day to have a look at our 13 year old water heater that wouldn't light. After having a look, walking through multiple options (including a repair to keep the heater working), and answering our questions, we decided to replace the heater. David did a great job with the install, and got it done within a number of hours. His work was clean, fast, and thorough. He also addressed a number of issues with the way in which the old heater was installed and plumbed. The price was reasonable. Not much more you can ask for. Lifesaver. read more

Our water heater of (12) years quit on a Saturday around noon. By 3:00pm Joey O. of Payless arrived to assess. We decided to install a new tankless system---work began the next morning (Sunday). The job was completed by 2:00pm same day---the workmanship was first rate. There was no special charge for weekend work. Joey's communication skills are superb. His installation skills are journeyman level. This is a family run business--and they act like every detail and customer matters. 10+ read more

Everyone I interacted with at this company was professional, polite and informative. I want to mention in particular David H ask for him. He explained everything gave me my options, did the work, left everything clean and went over everything he did when done. He made sure I understood the various shutdown procedures if things go wrong in the future. I also want to mention Mike the manager and Joanne C who assisted me in filling out the paperwork for the necessary permit. Overall a pleasant experience at not a pleasant time nobody likes to be without hot water. read more

They were upfront with pricing which turned out to be a very fair price for the service. Work was performed quickly. I was more than satisfied and I will definitely call Payless again as needed. read more

Daniel was here as scheduled and did an immediate estimate for replacement of our OLD water heater. Because of the age of the past installation there were many upgrades required for code enforcement. Payless pulled a city permit and Daniel started to work. Daniel worked and completed the complete installation and clean up in a two hour window. He explained all the operation of the new unit with patience and expertise. In about one hour we were taking nice hot showers. The price was competitive and the unit has a 9 year warranty. We are happy with the experience with Payless and Daniel and recommend their service. read more

Needed a new part installed as the pilot light kept going out. David H came out and did great work. Very efficient and professional. I would highly recommend PAYLESS. Job 231111. read more

Stay away from this company they are incredible dishonest. My water heater blew up today and they came out for a free estimate. My wife was home and the technician said it was $3000 to replace and fix. Is this a good price or not? I don't know and that's not the point of the review. Here is where the blatant dishonesty comes in. The second option was for the technician to do a work around that he quoted $320 so we could have cold water in the house and use the other water heater until this was replaced. It would literally have taken 1 second. I came home, laterally turned the valve above the water heater a total of 2 seconds and we have cold water in the house. He wanted to charge $320. So my experience was horrific. read more

Would not use this business. They made two appointments and didn't show up either time. So disrespectful.

Our water heater started making really loud banging/gaseous sounds last night before we were going to bed, sounded like it might explode! Called our landlord and we turned it off and he called Payless first thing this morning. They were here within a couple hours this morning and their representative David H. was very nice, efficient and professional! New water heater installed and we have hot water again. We're quite happy with David's work! Thank you Payless Water Heaters & Plumbing, Inc. read more

I would highly recommend David H as your service technician. He is reliable, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Even though I had some issues in replacing my old system he was thoughtful in considering how to address them and came prepared on installation day. Every thing was done in a timely manner and David H. left the space cleaner when he left ( cleaned the cobwebs from the walls and swept the floor before installing ) All in all a very pleasant and professional experience and as I said before Ask for David H.! I felt that the price was fair for the job done. read more

Our water heater went out on one night, cracked through the bottom and leaking real bad so we had to shut the water off. Payless had their best and brightest technician, David H. come out the very next morning and he did a fantastic job replacing the unit. He made multiple extra-detail improvements and ensured that the installation was up to code, and made sure we got the best deal we could. I'd recommend him to anyone who needed something similar. He seemed like a great dude and 10/10 would have him next time we needed help. read more

Payless Water Heaters - Our new water heater installation. - Water Heater Installation/Repair Near Me

My water heater which was only 6.5yr old broke/was leaking water and I needed to get it repaired. Payless was going to send someone out right away (no days of waiting). I was also told over the phone that the leaking water probably meant I needed a new water heater. Once the technician Jose arrived, he confirmed that a new water heater was needed. He commented that because I have hard water (in Camarillo) that this contributed to the water heater breaking down, even tho I have water softener. I was surprised by the cost, so he talked to me about how to lower the price, plus he got me in touch with the manager right on the spot. The manager understood my issue and my concern that it was only a 6.5yr old water heater that broke, and that the cost of a new one was higher than I expected. He offered me 2 different types of financing, personalizing it to my situation. Since a lot of the other equipment needed besides the water heater was only 6yr old and in good condition, the cost of the replacement was able to be reduced. Jose took a lot of time with me as I considered the options, waiting and answering questions. It was the end of the day so Jose came back at a scheduled time the next morning to do the job, and he was very fast at completing the install. Also, I opted to do the permit input myself, but could not fill out the form correctly, so Payless had me leave a message for the woman who handles that at their company, and since I'm hard to get in touch with due to the nature of my work, she completely filled it out for me and sent it via email so I could just email it to my town's building dept. All in all, very helpful, wonderful service all around. read more

Our experience with David H. and with Payless Water Heaters was excellent, and we highly recommend this company. read more

Water heater stopped working. Tried unsuccessfully to reignite. Made appointment online last night. Followed up with a phone call to confirm. Juan C arrived and quickly assessed the problem. Our water heater went on the fritz right before we had our son come visit from Asia!! Help! We met David H when a neighbor used his services, so decided to call Payless Water Heaters. The receptionist was incredibly accommodating and got an appointment for us the next day and even called that day to let us know David would be a little late because his job before us was more complicated than was expected. Upon a timely arrival, David H explained everything thoroughly, was very professional, did great work, and to top it off, a super nice man! We are very pleased with his work. As someone said above, it is a little shocking what a water heater costs these days but the workmanship and professionalism definitely makes it more bearable. Thank you David! read more

Our 6 - 7 year old water heater went out on 1/5/24. We got a couple estimates one from another company and one from Payless Water Heaters on 1/5/23. We liked the Yelp reviews for Payless Water Heaters, their timeliness and fair price. Josh from Payless Water Heaters was very quick in responding to our Yelp inquiry and booking an appointment for the estimate and the job. Thanks for completing the job in a timely manner too. Carlos Ramirez provided the estimate and installed the new water heater the next morning on 1/6/24. He did a super job and is a nice guy. Thanks Payless, Josh and Carlos! read more
