Waste of time!!! Pay the extra few dollars for an another company. Spent just under 2 hours in line. If I didn't prepay, I would just move to another companies counter. Only 1 person on duty to check you in. Will NOT use these guys ever again. AVOID at all costs!!!

It was just my wife and I coming in for a graduation in Tucson. I reserved a full size car SPECIFICALLY for comfort and safety. We were given a Mitsubishi outlander. The car had many cosmetic defects, was not washed (dirty windows inside and out, bugs all over the front, stains on the upholstery, back bumper very chipped up, low uneven tread on tires). About 15 mins into our trip we got onto the freeway, and the car started to vibrate and wobble very badly. We realized it's only when it's over 60 mph. I immediately tried to call the Phoenix sky harbor location to see if the car could be replaced in Tucson as it was too far to drive back at that point, as we were on a tight itinerary. I tried multiple numbers, and could only get through to call centers, not the actual desk. Nobody could give me any useful information, other than they wouldn't allow me to switch vehicles in Tucson. So not only was the comfort I was seeking completely opposite of what I was intending to reserve in a full size, but it also caused a lot of anxiety as we were driving 2 hours to Tucson as out of towners, as we weren't sure if there was something wrong with the car that could cause a potential breakdown or accident. Upon return of the vehicle, there was nobody to greet us and I had to walk around the garage in 100 degree weather to find someone and ask if I needed someone to check us back in, and when I finally found someone they said no. Took it upon myself to go back to the front desk and inform them about the condition of the car, so that the next customer would not have the same bad experience we did.

If I could rate this place ,who is ALSO associated with AVIS which has the same employees who COULD help each other I would rate this a zero star. The Avis section had 7-8 representatives they only placed 1on the payless side. The Avis line went through .... You guessed it.7 times faster. We have been in line for close to an hour and only made it half way through a 24 foot line. When we asked for help for the frustrated employee getting yelled at by the disgruntled customers, the black gentleman smiled and said " they want us to clear the Avis line first." I will note that the long ass Avis line refilled multiple times since we have been here. This is not fair to the ONE employee at the Payless counter who is working really hard and fast for a company who doesn't even help their employees out. Sad to see the other 7-8 employees at the Avis counter leaving him alone to deal with upset customers. Honestly wouldn't recommend either Avis or payless to ANYONE. This is a service and right now paying for any service for a lot of people is tuff. The LEAST you can do is try to make it easier for the clients who have had a tiring long day from traveling. Additionally, when we got done with waiting in line, we moved to get our car thinking that we were done waiting. The line to get the car was EVEN longer!! However, the only good thing about this experience was the manager Sara. She was doing her best to get everyone through. This woman deserves a raise. Confirmation# 18031277US5

They expect you to use their phone app to review and report additional damage. However, the app was very difficult to use, especially with it being so dark. The car was dirty, so we had to wipe off the dirt to check for damage. I needed to have an attendant assist me with photographing all the extra damage and reporting it through their app. For instance, there was unreported physical damage to the body of the car, and cigarette burns to the upholstery. I had to trust that the attendant got everything that I pointed out, as there was nothing for me to review before I had to sign approval. I rented the car on April 1, 2026, and returned it on April 6th. On April 2nd I received an email asking for an explanation of additional damage that they found on the vehicle, just hours after I left the lot. This was pre-existing damage that they were now blaming me for. I didn't see their email until I returned home from my trip. The email only had a link to a page where I was supposed to explain the reason for the damage, even though it existed before I rented the car. I attempted several times to contact them by phone, but the AI agent kept sending me to someone in another country who only spoke Spanish, who would then hang up on me. Apparently all phone assistants are in the Philippines. I finally found someone who spoke English, but they had no way to send me confirmation of my report of this issue. So I don't know what I can do if they try to charge me for pre-existing damage. I won't ever use this company again. I'll stick with only American-based companies. The car was fine to drive, but the experience was terrible.

I looked and a couple of those in line at Budget ahead of me were still waiting there. I could've save an hour or more if I'd gone to Sixt initially. Thanks Sixt!!

Most recently, I rented a car for a week and after taking the train to the rental car center, I was able to skip the desk and head straight to the Emerald Aisle to pick any available car. I would highly recommend setting up an account with National and taking advantage of this.... being able to skip a line at the counter is a blessing. In any event, we went to the aisle, picked out our car and were off after a brief stop at the gate to check everything. Return was also quick and painless. Josh did a thorough inspection of the car, which we returned with a full tank and in pristine shape, and we were on our way in no time. It's amazing how frictionless the experience can be, as opposed to how awful other companies (I'm looking at you Hertz) can make it. I highly recommend National.

The staff are friendly and professional. I've had them offer to give me a bit of a discount when something inconvenient happens, and I'm glad they have that authority. This last time the car I rented had a lot of fingerprints on the windows and the carpeting in the trunk of the car was stained. There was also a splotch of something in the cupholder (I didn't try to remove it so I don't know how stuck on it was). That said, it didn't affect performance of the car and overall I still enjoyed driving it. The pricing seems okay. I think there are cheaper rental companies, but some of what I pay for is convenience. I'll keep using them when I visit Phoenix for work.

They do add an additional 29 dollars to your total rental. Also it's 18 bucks to simply rent from the airport. You can check in on the app and it will direct you to your vehicle. They have a directory which will clarify which area to pick a car. Honestly they were all the same whether gold or not. You pick a car and drive out. Upon exit they ask for your driver license and give you your rental contract. Dropping off was easy as well they simply instruct you to leave the keys and a receipt will be emailed. Don't forget to take a pic of mileage and gas just in case. Car was clean and decline the fuel through the app it's much cheaper at gas stations.

We were first timers and we were stressed! During this experience I was able to get Experian on the phone immediately and tried to help me even though I wasn't renting with them! Just take that into consideration when choosing who to rent with!

There was no long line (in fact, I was attended to immediately), it was just a HORRIBLE comedy of issues, one after another. This was my first experience with Budget, and will absolutely be my last. Here's a summary: I reserved an electric vehicle ("Ford Mach E or similar") through Budget using Costco's travel website. The rental fee for the entire 6 days was roughly $377, a phenomenal deal. I told the Budget employee that I had a reservation through Costco, and he couldn't find it. He asked for my confirmation number from my Costco confirmation e-mail, and found my reservation that way. He rung me up (took roughly 10 minutes), and said the total cost would be right around $1,700. I showed him the confirmation e-mail showing the $377 total, and he said that the "prices must have reset since it's now after midnight". He was unable to adjust the price because he needed a "manager number", and there were no managers on duty. He sought assistance from a coworker, who was able to help him (another 15 minutes), and got the price adjusted, but said that the car was no longer available. He looked for cars, and found a Genesis GV60, and said he could give it to me for another $10 / day, and I excitedly agreed. He went through the same ten-minute ordeal, and again, reported that the car was no longer available. This cycle went on over and over for over an hour, and I added that at that point I don't care if it's an electric car, I just want something to drive. He said he'd put me in a Mercedes, and would give it to me for the same $10 / day premium over my original price. He wrote parking space #140 on my pickup ticket, told me the keys were in the car, and to just go to spot 140 to pick it up, and show the QR code he'd texted me on my way out. So, off I went to the garage, found space 140, and in it was a Genesis, not the Mercedes on my contract. So, I went for help from the in-garage attendant, and he repeated the same "here's a car", "I'll update the contract", "Oops, that car's not available" a few more times. He eventually was able to transfer a "car over from the Avis side", and I went to the parking space to get it and it was a Ford Mach E, just like I'd reserved. Budget corporate responded to my "how did we so" survey, and refunded one day's rental fee, and apologized, thus the extra star.

This is an update to my last update. More than a month later NO ONE has responded. Budget did give…read moreme a refund for 2 out of 8 days of my rental. When they first offered it, I turned it down. It wasn't enough. They gave it to me anyway. Sky Harbor is complicit in that they never even acknowledged my complaint to them. So much for the friendliest airport in the country. They basically gave me the Don't rent from Budget. Like so many corporations today, they don't give a crap about the people who hold the money. Use anyone else, just not them.
