Payette brewing. When my family says we're going to Payette I get exited. There it's like a family party because you know at least one person there and with friendly staff you have a good time. When you go there you feel comfortable and free. One thing I could change would be the food they had it was ok. I tried the Payette Embers Stout via Albertsons as a take home - a new go for me. I should have read the label a bit more carefully about the hint of vanilla in the brew. I must say, as a stout man this one would be a pass .. the flavor basics are fine but the vanilla taste (and odor) is too strong in a brew. Would suggest trying another lovely product at Payette .. giving this one a pass. read more

This is truly one of my happy places and one of my favorite breweries. Even my dog gets so excited to go here. Not only is the beer great, but the staff is so wonderful and personable. Much to my disappointment, I learned that the Garden City taproom was shut down and their non-brewery operations were consolidated to their new location on Pioneer St. Although the new location is nice, the service was quite confusing and the atmosphere was not as good as the original. I met a coworker here one Saturday afternoon, our first time at the new location. Just like the original taproom, you have to walk up to the bar to order drinks. However with the much larger space one would think that waitstaff would walk over with beer menus and take care of everything. When we first walked in, the girl behind the bar gave me a funny look but did not say anything, until I got up and walked up to order. Very awkward. The acoustics of the room make having a conversation very difficult when there are more than 20 people inside. On the afternoon we stopped in, several large groups just happened to come in after us - causing quite a lengthy line to form at the bar. The line got so long and the noise level was almost deafening that we decided to leave after only one round. A previous reviewer commented that one of the servers got offended whenever the old taproom was mentioned - I think we had that same girl as she seemed kind of put off when I mentioned that I used to frequent the Garden City taproom regularly and was sad to hear that it closed. Perhaps the owners should reconsider their decision, it may help with crowd control a bit... read more

First time visitor here. Spoke to Steve at the bar and he recommended a couple beers to try based on my "usual" light beer taste. The Fly Line hit the spot! Subtle hop flavor, sort of sweet and really really good. Steve also provides me a few places for a good steak at night and a nice sandwich place during the day. Overall, this guy is vested in this brewery. He cares, provides awesome service and he's doin this with everyone! I recommend take the stairs up to look out at the work that goes into making these stellar beers. Very nice, clean establishment and many beers ready to purchase when leaving to take home. Fresh beer and Fresh Air! The Location: The new Payette Brewing location is great! An improvement in every way! From the moment you walk through the glass doors, you lay your eyes on a large clean room with plenty of tables and chairs! everything has a modern, clean industrial look and feel to it. There are always plenty of places to sit inside, and taste some beer fresh from the brewery which is in the same building (you can even smell beer ingredients in the air when you walk in!) It only gets better when you look to your right from the entrance to see that they have a large grassy yard for you to also enjoy your beer in! It has a total backyard feel to it, complete with hammocks, yard games like corn hole and Frisbee, and plenty of outdoor benches! This is such a breath of fresh air, when it is nice out nothing beats enjoying a beer outside! The grassy yard makes it all the better, whereas other breweries or beer gardens have outdoor seating, it is usually upon cement or asphalt, and in the sun you end up being hotter and more uncomfortable than you would hope. During the weekend they have also had live music outside! Food trucks also tend to visit the brewery often as well! The Beer! The real reason why we are here. The new location has plenty upon plenty of taps. This ensures that everyone no matter their taste will find something they will like. Being fresh from the just the other room in the building, this is the way beer is meant to be drank! All of the beers are full of flavor and are incredibly delicious. If you like hoppy beers, definitely try the Rustler IPA! It has a perfect balance of hops, citrus, and bitterness that makes for a refreshing beer any time of the year. If you are looking for something even more refreshing try the blood orange rustler IPA. If you like something more mild, and standard, try their Payette Pale Ale, always a good call that appeals to everyone! For something darker they offer both the Pistelero Porter, being a darker beer, and the Mutton Buster Brown Ale, dark but not too dark, making it a good beer for fall and spring. If you do not like beer, worry not! They always have ciders on top, and also offer wine! This makes a great place for meeting with friends, have some beers outside on the lawn. It also makes a great place for easy going date nights, as there is something for everyone, and always plenty of space. The only downside: only reason why it is 4 out of 5 stars This is beyond their control, however definitely altered the experience and atmosphere.... children. Since Idaho passed the law allowing children into breweries and wineries, there is now a chance that your atmosphere will be completely changed, and not for the best. Although I am sure parents are happy they no longer have to find a babysitter, as someone who enjoys drinking delicious beers with friends in peace, there was definitely a negative shift. Before the law passed, going here was great! You could go and play games outside, sip a beer on the hammock and enjoy good conversation! A percentage of the last few times however, you step outside, and children are running around screaming, jumping on the yard games (rendering them unusable), and wresting each other for the hammock. The place of tranquility for beer drinkers, just becomes a scene from lord of the flies. I am fully understanding of being overjoyed to be able to bring your children to this new awesome spot, but make sure they are respectful of others around you. At least twice going here, we planned on staying for 3 or 4 beers, but had one, got a headache and left. I definitely recommend going on weeknight, an earlier time (when kids are still busy) or later in the evening (when the kiddos need to sleep). This is not Payette brewery's control, so if you are looking for beer, go here! (if you bring your kids, keep them at bay). I was a little underwhelmed with the flavor profiles for the IPAs here. I had a flight and tried several IPAs and a couple of other types and was not too excited about them. They weren't terrible but the Payette Forward was extremely hoppy which is not at all my preferred taste, I prefer a more citrusy finish. Rodeo was my favorite. Overall I think it's worth checking out for the sake of comparison but the ambiance was a little boring and the guy behind the bar was not at all engaging. After a day of rafting the Payette River we thought "What better way to end the day then at Payette Brewing?!" Unfortunately we experienced a major buzzkill due to the atmosphere, and not by the patrons - but by the employees. I had the Rustler and my boyfriend had the Oktoberfest, and while I think they were both fine beers I really was unable to enjoy it. We ended up sitting at the back of the counter near the register and had the pleasure of listening and absorbing the intense negativity coming from three of the five employees who were around us. There was some sort of texting drama going on between a couple of employees. It was loud, intense, negative and quite frankly completely inappropriate to be taking place in the manner that it was taking place. Save the drama for your staff meetings. What is even worse is that the three involved were actively trying to involve the other employees who were at least pretending to be oblivious, and at one point one of them even tried to engage ME in the conversation. Absolutely uncalled for. When I visit Boise again this is the one place that I will not be attending again. read more

We live in Boise and love to take our visiting friends to local brew pubs when they come to visit. We chose Payette Brewing Co today for our friends from San Diego and our experience could not have been worse. Our server Krista (with a K) was rude and uninformed. Her snarky attitude and snide comments were were condescending and embarrassed me as a fellow Treasure Valley resident. She made numerous comments such as " if I had a beer list I would already give It to you" and "You can't stand in our serving area" BTW we were the only people in the place this afternoon. I would not go back with friends or otherwise if Kristin (with a K as she So proudly stated) was lending her limited expertise. They weren't busy but continued to serve everyone behind us, maybe we were just invisible?? Fun place to hang out if you're in Boise. They had 8 beers on tap when we stopped by to sample their beer. You can get free samples, or buy pints when you visit. The tasting room is comfortable with a relaxing vibe. The staff are friendly. Their flagship beers are typical brown ales and IPA's, but at least one seasonal that they had when we stopped by was real delicious (it had cardamom!). They do can their beers and they have a 32 oz. canner that they can fill when you're there if you want to take a seasonal to go (it's like a Big Gulp! for adults). This is one of our favorite spots in Boise! Excellent beers, excellent service, and the atmosphere is so inviting and relaxing. They are very dog and kid friendly; dogs are even welcome inside the brewery. We love the lawn and seating area outside because our toddler can run around while mom & dad enjoy a good beer. Local goodness. I give these folks 5 stars for the taproom and 5 stars for the beer in general. The taproom itself is a pleasant hang. Always fun to drink the nectar where it is made. No kitchen...but often a food truck is outside waiting to satisfy your hunger. Bottom line: the beer is really good. I am partial to the Mutton Buster Brown and try to keep a growler full of it at home...but their wonderful brew is also available by the can in many around town. Payette's beers also seem to be embraced by the local restaurant and bar scene. I usually can find their Outlaw IPA or brown on tap. The brown, IPA and Pale seem to always be available. The seasonal Saison was excellent. I am tickled to hear that there is at least one seasonal Belgian style coming later this year. As a transplant from the East, I don't celebrate the hoptastic flava as much as my new friends here in the West. But I'm told that Payette's many versions of hop forward beer are excellent. read more

The final stop of my Boise brewery tour, this place had my favorite brews. We ordered some sampler trays, with two of each variety. This place seems to have the brewing process figured out, as there were really no bad beers in the bunch. While I'm usually not a porter/stout drinker, my favorite of the bunch was the 12 gauge imperial stout. The taste was just so full and robust - but beware, the ABV was north of 10% on this one! Other favorites of our group included the Slaughterhouse India Red Ale and the Outlaw IPA. Tucked away in a random warehouse building in Garden City, the atmosphere is about as far from pretentious as you can get. And I'm sure that is deliberate, as their beers are named for their country roots. They seem to be growing quickly, and you can find their cans in many local grocery stores. The bartender on our visit was very friendly and knowledgeable. He said they'd outgrown this location and would soon be moving to a new location somewhere on the greenbelt, so I'd expect them to really take off soon. read more

This place will be awesome- but a few kinks to work out first. I visited on a Thursday evening hoping to have a casual food truck + beer- although no food trucks were available. Love the interior decor although acoustics are bad- it gets very loud and echoey even with a small crowd. That said on a nice evening the place to sit will be out on the lawn. I loved the atmosphere of this brewery! This was my second time being here and I really enjoyed it. The only issue I had was with my server, I didn't catch her name, but she had a crutch on her leg. She closed my tab and when I asked if I could keep it open she said "well I already closed your tab, sorry". The last time I was in I was able to keep my tab open. I feel like the service on her end could have been more kind and accommodating. Other than that minor inconvenience, I love this brewery and hope to be back soon! read more

I was driving from Colorado to Washington and decided to try some breweries on the way. This was the main one that we wanted to try in Boise (based on Yelp) and we were so glad that we did. The location is awesome, plenty of seating. We got a 6 or 8-beer flight, I don't quite remember. But the beers were really good. My favorite was the breakfast beer, which had some hints of bacon. I'm confused is this a daycare or a brewery? I have a few problems with the place , one of them being they allow children . Literally toddlers and little kids running around . It's a brewery that sells beer , and for reasons unbeknownst to me I'm typically asked for my ID , yet Children are allowed in here . Why ? Because they are with their parents ? Wtf !? I suppose it's better than leaving them in the car while they go inside and get drunk though. Nevertheless it's trashy. Not the kind of brew pub like atmosphere that I find acceptable . Speaking of what else I don't find acceptable is the customer service . While its usually marginal at best , which is probably the steely vibe they were trying to establish in the first place and that's fine . What isn't fine was our visit there this Sunday afternoon . The two beer pourers that we're on that day were hostile and rude , especially the blond lady . I suppose I would be too if I worked at a beer hall that has to babysit drunk people's kids . But It wasn't even busy ! As a matter of fact it was dead ... maybe 15 people tops. The Vibes are definitely off here , and this business have plenty of other competition in town that serve better tasting beer too so I would definitely recommend not coming to this place . Go to Prefunk instead . Its seems to be a lot nicer with a better beer selection And no kids. read more
