This place is the best. The doc has always been great to work with. I don't think our dog even minds going anymore.

I have stated numerous times, about the amazing businesses within walking distance from my home,…read morewhat a treat to find yet another. I don't mind traveling, but am so impressed at the quality of businesses in this "small" town of Firestone. This place lived up to the same expectations. While we don't need to visit often, our dog is relatively healthy...she has had to go for an infection on a developing growth. My husband took her in, getting an appointment was simple process, they saw her, issued her meds and didn't cost us an arm and a leg. They have a side area, right off the waiting room for pet care products. And also offer grooming services. What truly impressed me was recently this growth has grown, and being concerned I was able to walk in and chat with someone. Our dog is getting up there in years, in some ways out living other dogs her size. I had many questions as to what to do about this growth. I took a picture of it, and thought I would just go in, see if someone had a minute to chat, and help me talk through my thoughts. The gal (wish I remembered her name!) at the front desk took as long as I needed to help me work through all the various options, not only giving me insight and fees, but to use hydro-peroxide and neosporin to keep it clean. Something I have noticed since moving here, people seem to truly have time for you, and a willingness to help. I have really appreciated this in every business we have now been customers to.

Everyone is nice and our pups do well here. Every visit to the vet is expensive if you don't have pet insurance. But our boys are worth it and we felt the cost was competitive and reasonable. Your staff arrived at 1:30pm on Monday, after us reaching out after 3:45pm on a Sunday. Mikey's sweet reassurance and support, followed by your fabulous doctor,Anneliese Bruening, and sweet capable and familier tech,Vikki, made a heartbreaking process sacred and peaceful. With what was clearly her kidney's shutting down and much discomfort, Bella, was becoming aggressive and upset and this was breaking our heart, but your doctor easily wrapped her in comforting burrito blanket and created space for gentle sedation to let us hold her, comfort her, love her before the stronger sedation and final medication to allow her transition to ultimate peace and comfort. I am a 38 year hospice/palliative care Social Worker, and even with my knowledge and hands on experience, when it is your loved one, you are slayed emotionally with the questioning, the sorrow, the loss. Your beautiful staff helped reassure us we were making the right decision at the right time out of love and respect for ending her suffering. Your availability to provide this in the peace of our own home was priceless. (And actually less costly than the larger home euthanasia companies where everyone would have been strangers to us and to Bella!) Thank you all, forever! Kaye and Peter Cantwell Longmont, CO

The team in charge of my rabbits care were exceptional - knowledgeable, communicative, helpful. However, I have noticed pricing has gone up substantially, especially for "companion" rabbits. As any rabbit person knows, a bonded pair should not be separated if at all possible. My rabbit was brought in initially by himself and hospitalized for a few days before I was able to bring his bonded friend. The staff all commented on how much happier, calmer and overall better my ill rabbit seemed with his friend with him. What I was charged for the "companion" rabbit was astonishing. $2,500 for less than 48 hours. A rabbit who stayed in the same enclosure as my ill rabbit and was healthy. Did not need any medical treatment or intervention. I wanted to write this review so that others who may be in the same situation with a bonded pair are prepared for the cost. My total bill for my ill rabbit was very high, but I can more easily justify it based on the care he was receiving. My "companion" rabbits bill - I am extremely disappointed about. Especially since this is a teaching veterinary school, I fear it is teaching future veterinarians to overcharge which could potentially limit owners from being able to afford taking their animals to receive the care they need.

I cannot express how deeply disappointed and heartbroken I am over my experience at CSU Veterinary…read moreTeaching Hospital. I brought my dog, Lupo, there during a medical emergency while we were traveling from North Carolina, and what followed was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. We were already in a state of panic, far from home, trying to make the best decisions we could. Despite that, there was a profound lack of communication, compassion, and transparency throughout his care. We were never offered the option to stay in any rooms, just to rest for a little. Being 45 minutes away while our dog was critically ill created unnecessary distance during the most important moments of his life. The most devastating part is that we were only contacted when things had already taken a severe turn, and that call was not a supportive update, but a frantic, high-pressure conversation where I felt like I was being almost yelled at that he needed to be euthanized immediately. There was no sense of guidance, no compassion just urgency without support. We were not called earlier as he declined, and we were not given a real opportunity to come and be with him in time. Because of this, I lost the chance to have any meaningful final moments with my dog. By the time we were involved, he had been intubated. That was not what I wanted unless it was absolutely necessary as a life-saving measure, and it ultimately robbed me of being able to hold him, comfort him, or say goodbye in a way that had any meaning. That is something I will carry with me forever. When we last saw him, he was placed all the way at the bottom of a cage. It felt impersonal and distressing given how critical his condition was. There was no sense that comfort or dignity in his final moments was being prioritized. To make matters worse, a necropsy (autopsy) was performed without our explicit consent. This was incredibly upsetting and felt like a violation during an already devastating time. The lack of clear communication and consent around something so significant is completely unacceptable. After his passing, the handling of his remains and the lack of communication continued to cause harm. Because of delays and inability to reach anyone, his body was not released to the memorial service we had chosen in time for us to receive his ashes before our flight home. We were forced to extend our stay, rebook flights, and incur additional expenses... all while grieving the loss of our baby. I understand this is a teaching hospital and that not every case has a positive outcome. But communication, compassion, and respect for both the patient and their family should never be optional. At no point did I feel supported, informed, or prioritized as his owner. Lupo was my world. He deserved better. And no family should have to go through what we experienced here. There was no compassion in here. There was only a severe urgency to give us a large bill.

It's only a YEAR later that I'm getting around to writing this review, and the experience with this company still makes me tear up, with gratitude! As a first-time client, I had some special requests, like keeping my dog's body for a few days while I finalized ideas for memorabilia. They honored my wishes with such grace and compassion. When I needed an urn, they went above and beyond, showing me their inventory so I could select the perfect one, as each wood option was uniquely cut and meaningful. Their attention to detail and genuine care for my situation made such a difference. Despite my attempts to give them a cash tip as a thank-you, they kindly refused and asked that I leave a review instead. So here it is (a YEAR later): Caring Pathways offers incredible service with a truly compassionate touch. I can't recommend them enough. The vet, Kaity, and her assistant that came to help us were just as much of a blessing as the ladies at the mortuary. You're all just the most extraordinary team of humans!! Thank you, again!!!! They offer a cancellation window up to 4 hours before your appointment and allow you to carry over your deposit to when you reschedule, with no extra fee. So thankful for this understanding. The cost may feel steep, but the in-home service is so so worth it. Iverson had his last meal while the pain meds were administered. It was a distraction where he didn't even notice. He felt safe and comfortable in his home, surrounded by family and on his favorite couch. He was then given a sedation medicine where he drifted into a nap on my chest. When the final medicine was given, he felt no pain as he crossed the rainbow bridge. I have heard horror stories from other in home service companies.
