Awesome! The team here were so kind, considerate and thoughtful! Going to the vet can be a scary experience. Usually you're worried about cost of care while making sure your fur baby is healthy. The team here thoroughly listened to everything going on with my pup and gave us a really good understanding of all our options. Ensuring she was taken care of without pressure for any additional pricey procedures. We also needed an emergency follow up and they were able to squeeze us in right away. Rise Vet has become like a second family for my chihuahua, Capo. I took him in for the first time four years ago, totally unsure of what to expect as a first time dog mom and I walked out feeling completely relieved. The care and love they showed Capo has left a lasting impression on me. The staff is smart, attentive and greatest of all, compassionate. As a once broke college student, they worked with me to find affordable solutions to my dogs many health issues. Never once had I felt pressured into expensive treatments or misled by this team. I never feel rushed and he answers all my questions (I usually have a lot). You can tell he truly cares about your fur baby. The entire staff are so sweet and always make us feel really welcome and comfortable. Miley has also had her teeth cleaned with Rise and during recovery they kept me updated with how she was doing the entire time. The time had come for us to say goodbye to our little pup, and the team at Rise Vet made this incredibly difficult event for us into a safe, loving experience. Everyone greeted us warmly and made us feel at home in a beautiful room with a dog bed full of treats in the shape of a heart. They gave him whipped cream and anything he wanted, and he was so happy before gently falling asleep. So thoughtful and caring. UPDATE: This unethical vet not only gaslit 3 different people who had a negative experience, he deleted my review on google. Crazy making. I would stay away. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The worst time in many people's lives is when your pet is has a very scary diagnosis and will die soon. That is the moment when you need the best, most competent and most compassionate care. That is not what we received at Rise Vet. To be fair, this used to be a great vet practice about 2 years ago. It is not any longer. This review is based on multiple experiences with multiple pets and multiple families. I was personally involved in each experience. The front desk staff is disorganized and makes a lot of mistakes. Dr. Boal has turned into an arrogant, rude vet and does a terrible job of running his clinic. Unfortunately that can happen when someone thinks they are impervious to consequences which is where I believe he is now at with hundreds of positive reviews. Hopefully this review will help someone. In summer of 2022, I referred my dear friend thinking she would have a good experience with her new puppy. Suffice it to say she will never be back and found a vet clinic she actually feels comfortable with and she trusts. With my dog, we are currently in an emergency. Dr. Boal didn't have time to see my dog so we saw another vet in the same clinic (at Rise Vet). We didn't feel comfortable with her assessment so we decided to consult with Dr. Boal. His opinion wasn't consistent with hers and his advice was different. This made us feel uneasy. Dr. Boal referred us to what he termed an "urgent surgery" for our dog. Rise Vet completely screwed up the surgery referral. Both the vet tech and the vet at the nationally recognized surgery center we had chosen expressed surprise and concern that it was so difficult to get necessary information for our dog's care from Rise Vet. We had traveled over two hours to get this surgery consultation and were left waiting for hours because of Rise Vet's incompetence. Ultimately the surgery center disagreed with Rise Vet's opinions about our dog. At this point, we trust this nationally recognized surgery facility and not Rise Vet. Our dog does not have a good prognosis and we are looking at losing him soon. :( :( :( :( :( To add insult to injury, Dr. Boal found time in his "busy" schedule to call me the next day and chastise me for my partner and the vet being so persistent in getting the information we needed. He appeared to be extremely defensive of his staff and seemed to be attacking me when we were simply relaying that the surgery center needed our dog's records so they could evaluate our dog and decide what to do. The surgery center ended up having to redo the ultrasound because of the delays and we had to pay for that. During what is a really sad and stressful time for us, Dr. Boal expressed no sympathy for my dog or for us, as we lose a pet who is precious to us. Rather, he made me feel very uncomfortable on the phone as he cross examined me about what happened re: the records. I kept the conversation civil and kind despite my extreme discomfort. I would guess most pet owners wouldn't. Then he said our dog could not turn to Rise Vet for his primary care while he's dying???!!!!! We had no intention of returning to Rise Vet given their apparent incompetence but the absolute inhumanity of a vet doing that when a dog is dying is next level awful. Adding to it that this was 100% about THEIR incompetence and I'm just blown away. Oh and that we were civil and kind the entire time. Crazy. So, my advice would be to find another vet. Don't be afraid to travel outside Boulder. There are some good options. I wish you well and that you find the care you need for your beloved pet. read more

I cannot recommend this veterinary clinic enough. I would give them 10/5 stars if possible. I moved to Boulder in the spring and have visited arise several times for my 3 year old Bernese. I have been so impressed with every member of the team. My dog recently needed an emergency surgery which they were able to complete right away, coordinated transferring him to VEG for monitoring, and kept him the following day for me while I was at work. The techs, assistants, and doctors are all amazing and very thorough. Tyler, one of the assistants, followed us to VEG to help get Benny out of the car and made sure the paperwork was sent over. I will never take my dog to Rise Vet and I advise you to do the same. My dear family member used to take her dog to Rise. From witnessing her experience, I am shocked at Rise's incompetence and treatment of her during an incredibly difficult time. We took her dog to an emergency hospital, per Rise's recommendation. We drove 2 hours because we were told her dog likely needed surgery ASAP due to a splenic mass that was basically a ticking time bomb. When we arrived, it turned out Rise had not sent over what the vet at the hospital actually needed to be able to determine if her dog needed surgery. We were faced with the choice of paying hundreds of dollars *again* to get imaging that her dog had already had a few days prior at Rise, or drive home without getting the surgical assessment. The thought of driving home and risking his life simply because Rise couldn't get the imaging over to the hospital was unconscionable. We all had to work ridiculously hard to get the imaging from Rise. No one seemed to care that we had arranged to take off work, had driven hours to the hospital, and had been assured multiple times it was all taken care of. Even though Rise messed up and not sent the imaging, it could have been handled so much better (and I wouldn't be posting this negative review) if they had just taken ownership of their error and sent everything over right away. Instead, they acted like it was our problem and not theirs. It took multiple phone calls from both us and the vets at the hospital, speaking to multiple staff members at Rise, to finally get what the vet needed to be able to provide care for this dog. The vet at the hospital, and the student working alongside her, both said it was highly unusual for a clinic to be this difficult and unprofessional. They expressed major frustration, both on our behalf and on their own behalf for not being able to do their job. If Rise can't be trusted to meet basic standards of care without major issue, you should not trust your beloved pets to them. There are so many other good vets in the area to choose from. read more

Easy to schedule an appointment with super helpful office staff. We had a wonderful experience at the convenient north boulder location with our large Newfie/Pyrenees Mix. She is an anxious dog and all the staff made us feel at easy. Kiki (assistant) listened to our concerns and had thoughtful advice. We saw Dr Andrew Boal and he was excellent with her. All this place is interested in is money and overcharging. My dog had an anterior tumor on her mandibular Involving two front teeth. They extracted the teeth, took x-rays and drugs and charged $1,100 to extract 2 small anterior teeth. Afterwards, when I asked the vet why they didn't take the tumor out she said because you didn't ask us. Seems they just wanted to spread the treatment out over two procedures. read more

The doctors may be good, but the assistants need to be trained in how to handle animals and clients. We recently moved and chose this clinic based on reviews, now I understand that it was a mistake. At the annual examination, they quickly looked at the dog and said that everything was fine, here is the vaccination calendar. And now the time has come for vaccinations, we have arrived. That is, they don't know our dog, they didn't ask us anything about how the dog behaved during vaccination, the assistant takes him and takes him away alone without us. We were already surprised. The dog is medium sized but strong. Then we hear the squeals and resistance of our dog, an assistant comes out with him and says that he cannot deliver the vaccines (several ones are needed) because the dog does not sit quietly and does not allow himself to be injected. And this happens without owner and treats. Seriously?! The dog received vaccinations for 2.5 years and everything was fine, and then the assistant tells us - I will give you the mark of an aggressive dog! What??! The husband went with them to the office and said that we have a shelter dog, nervous, does not like pressure, is afraid of new places, if you give him a treat, he stands calmly and tolerates vaccines. And when the Assistant brought the pate, the dog didn't even notice that he had received two injections. Now we will look for a new clinic. read more

We have followed Dr Schuster from another clinic, she is the best vet we've ever had. She is incredibly thorough and truly cares about her patients and their owners. She has never ever steered us wrong or said one of our dogs needed something they didn't. I'm also extremely impressed with all of the staff at Rise. Amber has been amazing and is so kind and sweet. They brought him a cat toy which was so sweet and my cat played (?) while in the examination room. I've had a lot of cars and I've never seen one so comfortable at the vet. Remarkable! Wow, incredible first experience. All the staff super friendly (knew pets name when I walked in the door!) You can tell (and Dr. Boal shared with me) that he treats his employees really well. I have a basset and was used to the current vet giving me a hard time about his weight. Not here, they just gave me helpful tips to help him shave a few pounds off. I had heard great things before I walked in the door with my basset hound today, and it was even better than I heard. I will be switching my golden doodle over to this practice as well. I can't recommend this veterinary office enough. They have been so patient, kind and helpful in helping us and our kitties in our particular situation. We are moving to Hawaii, and the rules for bringing pets to the island are very strict and detailed. It has been stressful to make sure we time everything correctly in order to make our flight and avoid having to quarantine the cats when we get there. Rise has gone above and beyond to make sure we fit this timeline. They got us in right away, and have been great with making sure everything goes smoothly for us. They really made sure to cross all the T's and dot the I's. We just had our last visit to get the FAVN rabies blood test done, and they even made sure to check with the lab that they had drawn viable samples. I really appreciate how they have been there for us every step of the way. They treated our cats very well and were as gentle as possible with them. Not only this, but their office is very cute and well done - it doesn't feel like a typical vet's office, which makes the experience more comfortable (for the people at least).
