I saw Dr Burnett in November. I had to put my cat to sleep. She was over the top empathetic and explained everything. I had never been thru. That before. It is very traumatic. Such a disappointing experience. To keep it as short as possible, I waited 25 minutes for my appt to get started for my 2 dogs. The doctor and tech entered the room (with vaccinations already prepared in hand), didn't introduce themselves (had never met the doctor before), immediately started examining my dog, kept calling both dogs "he" when they are both female (which is concerning that you didn't even read our chart). The doctor noticed a lump on one of my dogs and squeezed it to the point of my dog yelping and then never said another word about it. When she did address me, she asked if she could give the vaccinations in the room to which I said "I'd like to have a discussion what vaccinations you'd like to give my dogs before you just assume that's the course of treatment I'd like to do". She explained what the vaccinations she was proposing were and what they were for and I said fine. She injected my dogs and then asked if I had any concerns. When I said no, she left the room. The entire visit took LESS than 10 minutes for 2 dogs. When the tech brought the vaccination certificates into the examine room, I asked "Are my dogs healthy, what was the lump, how are my dogs teeth?" and he said "The doctor noted nothing so they are fine". When I went to check-out, the tech must have said something to the doctor as she came out and said "did you have questions?" and I said "I'd like to understand the health of my dogs" and she went through some stuff and then said that they needed their teeth done and she'd send a quote. Nearly $600 paid for this 10 minute visit and I was on my way home. I received a survey from the clinic, which I answered honestly and wrote the above and asked for a phone call. I did receive one a couple days later and was beyond underwhelmed with the office managers response... basically "thanks for informing us of your experience". She didn't say they planned to change anything, didn't offer a discount on the next service or a partial refund for our poor service this time. The kicker is that they sent me a quote of over $2,200 PER dog to clean their teeth and keep emailing and texting me about it. NO WAY will I let them take a look at my dogs again and I've had to move them to spam. We'll be switching practices immediately. read more

They take such good care of my cat! Every time, I'm greeted and brought to an exam room quickly. They also have great recommendations about food, supplements, and treats. They're a little on the expensive side, but totally worth it for my kitty! read more

I love Boulder Veterinary Hospital! I needed an appointment, so I went to their website and got one within 24 hours. I'm a first time cat owner, so I was very nervous, but all the staff members made me feel comfortable and truly cared about my cat's wellbeing. The vet tech was gentle with my cat, and the vet herself was very patient with all my questions and explained everything to me that I needed to know. I would absolutely recommend bringing your pet here!! read more

Spent $250 for an incorrect diagnosis. If the vet had spent as much time looking at my dog as she did telling me about all of the other services they could sell me I wouldn't be so unhappy about it. Don't make this your first vet choice. read more

Do you value you time and money? Do you want well trained staff that keep their emotions in check? Do you think treating others around you while at the office professionally. Well if you do. DONT come to this place. They will shove politics, opinions as well as shove gender issues down your throat in exam rooms. They might lose your medical record or forget to send it to the proper specialist that may be waiting. Staff cry and hug and touch one another while you wait in the lobby to see a "tech". Not to mention the grounding out of the phones that no one's seems to answer. read more

The doctors here get 5 stars all day long, great and personable and have an awesome bedside manner The receptionists are a totally different story; most of the time you're ignored when you walk in, they have the bedside manner of a grizzly bear making it about the most unwelcome place to enter into.. My advice: ditch miss New York at the front desk and hire someone with a sense of humanism and what it's like to come in with a pet emergency because by her actions today she could care less.... I had an emergency and wasn't even acknowledged, rather she yammered on the phone about underwater dog treadmills to whoever she was talking. Even a simple "I'll be right with you" would suffice. read more

We have a rare-breed, special needs cat and learned quickly that he requires an extremely qualified vet to handle his issues. Boulder Vet fit the bill, they have taken wonderful care of him! The vets here are all gentle and patient with our cat, and he is not always easy to handle! They also recognized potential health problems unique to hairless cats that our previous vet completely overlooked. They also accept that we may know some things about his care that they might have overlooked, and consider the breed-specific concerns we raise. Overall, we've been highly impressed with the level of care they provide. They are also super easy to communicate with: In the month before his surgeries I called them at least twice a week with some new concern or question, and they always took the time to fully answer me. They called a couple of times the week after his surgery to check in on him, and then again a week or so later. We also appreciate their cost consideration: If there are two treatment options, they'll tell you the pros and cons of both, including cost, before letting you chose, and they do their best to come up with affordable, simple treatments when possible. read more

I first went to BVH in 2011 when my chow blew out a knee. I interviewed several vets regarding the surgery and decided the technique used at BVH was the best. He recovered quickly and had no problems. I then switched all my shots and annual checkups for both my dogs to BVH. They communicate well and promptly, are thorough and provide fine service. read more

I recently started taking our black lab to see Dr Jordan. She is fantastic. She is extremely knowledgable, pragmatic, approachable and senses how the pet is feeling (anxiety, etc). Dr Jordan, the technician ....and actually everyone Ernie met in the Hospital were extremely friendly to him and ensured he was very comfortable and wanted to return. Dr. Jordan is the only vet I have dealt with but I strongly recommend her and the staff here. They also are very prompt in returning calls, emailing info, etc. read more

I'm shocked and horrified at the lack of compassion the staff had for me after witnessing my husband die from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. I was not able to control myself at all for several months after this happened. It's amazing I can now as well as I can but this vet hospital fired me as a client via the telephone. Truly an unbelievably callous, cold hearted response from "clinicians" who are supposed to be trained in how to deal with people. I was a client of this location for 40 years and I gave these new owners a try after dr anspaugh, et. al. retired and I thought they would be ok (they were ok until they decided to judge my behavior while I was super traumatized-how do they not know what traumatized people are like? It can only be the result of very poor training and incredibly week egos and that's a prescription for bad clinicians) I could not recommend them now at all. The fact that they couldn't understand my behavior considering what I had experienced is very concerning. I'm not saying they couldn't talk to me about their feeling about what they considered bad behavior on my part but to just "cancel" me and not have empathy considering what I had experienced is very unprofessional and without concern for possible negative ramifications from a rebuking. They have added significantly to my grief and trauma and it was a very risky maneuver doing this over the phone with a person they knew to be fragile. I'm certainly never going back. These are people who thrive on retribution rather than conflict resolution. I know they harmed me and after the mass shooting in Boulder you would think they would be more up to speed with regards to what traumatization looks like. I'd find a different vet if I were you. This vet hospital is staffed by immature people who don't have empathy for how much suffering is happening to many of their clientele read more

We just rescued a kitten from rural Colorado and called first thing on Monday morning hoping to get an appt that day. The receptionist was very friendly and she got us an appt in the afternoon. The doctor was very nice and gave us some helpful advice for our kitty. We're going back in a month for shots. The costs were surprisingly low too. I also just wanted to give some example prices, since its so hard to find out what a vet is going to charge you ahead of time--for a regular visit, its $55, for a follow up or puppy exam, its $44. Shots for my puppy were around $25 each...nail trimming/ear washing is around $22-$25. I don't have much to compare it to, but it seems pretty reasonable. read more

We have been taking our pets to this vet over the last 26 years. They have been really wonderful to both me and my cat and dog. In an attempt to reassure my little dog, the doctor even got on the floor to greet him. The vet gives great recommendations and really listens and cares for the well-being of our animals. I have referred several friends to Boulder Vet Hospital over the years, and they have all been very happy taking their pets there. read more

Oscar, my Chihuahua mix, saw Dr. Amanda Burdett twice for a strange and confounding muzzle rash. I found Dr. Burdett to be very caring, thorough and knowledgeable. She followed up with a phone call after every visit. I called her with a concern after he had an antibiotic shot, and she returned my call immediately. She was also sensitive to my concern about costs and recommended alternative ways to approach his medical problem, taking that into account. I highly recommend Dr. Burdett and the practice. read more

I have taken my chihuahua to Boulder Veterinary Hospital 6+ times. I have mostly seen Dr. Ed Berman. I really trust Dr. Berman, he is a patient, active listener. I recently took my dog to see Dr. Berman as she had seemingly hurt her back the night before. The Veterinarian suggested a conservative approach, he examined the dog and answered all the questions I had. He spent more than 30 minutes with us. I had a rather unpleasant experience with Alpenglow the previous night (when the dog injured herself). The Veterinarian at Alpenglow was rude and didn't listen to one word I said about how the dog had been hurt, he literally spent 2 minutes with me, didn't examine the dog and suggested deep sedation, x-rays and complete blood work?!? We decided to wait until the next day and take the dog to her regular vet. I'm so very glad we did! I never feel like I'm being suckered in to unnecessary tests or procedures at Boulder Veterinary Hospital, establishing a trustful relationship with the doctor that takes care of my pets is important to me. Additionally, Dr. Berman called 3 times to check in on my dog! I will always recommend this animal hospital. read more

I really like this vet office. They are a very thoughtful caring and competent group. I also think the women at the front are fabulous. I have called with issues that needed quick follow up and the reception group has been very helpful in getting me to the right people and also getting a response. I have been going here for 12 years. They are also very helpful in giving you treatment options and the doctors provide the best follow up of any vets that I have ever worked with. Top Notch Care Here! I have never written a review for anything...restaurants, hotels, doctors, etc. However, my dog and I had such a great experience at BVH that to show my gratitude I thought the best I could do was to write a review. My beloved dog was diagnosed with cancer and needed surgery. I feel she received the very best in terms of medical care as well as concern. Beforehand, the doctor took so much time with me to make sure I understood the procedure and the diagnosis. He seemed happy to return my call when I had additional questions. After the surgery, he called to check on my dog. When I was concerned about the incision, the office staff worked me in and at the appointment, the doctor was patient and interested - rather than put out that I made him stay late on a Friday night. If doctors of humans took this much care and interest in their patients, our medical system would be in much better shape! Everyone here cares about the health of my pet - from the office staff to the vet techs to the vets. I have heard that this practice is expensive. I don't care - with this kind of treatment, I would never look for a different place. read more
