After being bled dry about the hospital at CSU and several surgeries, Dr. Loyer and Choice made the visits affordable and made me comfortable with their staff. After our last visit, Dr. Loyer was very pleased with how Grizzly was getting along with this disease and gave me hope and peace in knowing that he is healthy while still dealing with his disease. My cat had a heart murmur. A previous vet years ago told us that she would never be able to…read moreundergo dental work or anesthesia due to the heart murmur. Fast forward to 6 weeks ago. I brought my 12 year old cat in for a routine visit. Dr. Barnes told me she needed dental extractions. I told her what the previous vet had told me. Another vet at the LFAH told me the same thing 3 years ago. Dr. Barnes assured me that she could perform a dental cleaning and extractions on my cat without first having a cardio vet examine her. She assured me that she would closely monitor my cat at all times during the procedure. I thought Dr Barnes had a good reputation so I felt I could trust her, although I have seen different vets at this practice over the years. They asked me to bring my cat in at 8:00 in the morning. Unbeknownst to me, her procedure would not start until after 1 PM. She had to sit in that cage for5 hours stressed out. I was not told this beforehand, and only found out when I called for an update hours after I brought her in. She was in distress after they put her under, and had to stop the procedure. Her lungs filled up with fluid and her oxygen level dropped. After the failed procedure some very disturbing things happened: Dr. Barnes told me AFTER the failed procedure that I should take my cat in for a cardio evaluation to a vet cardiologist. (I did make an appt the next day but could not get in for a month) They had mis recorded her weight by 2.2 pounds over and gave her medication based on the wrong weight. On a cat, this is a big deal. The front desk staff insisted she was 15,2 pounds although 8 days earlier and months prior she was 13 lbs. That same day I weighed her at home and she was 13 lbs. They did not correct her chart even after I emailed them about the discrepancy. They sent me home with a prescription that was labeled to have 30 pills in it, yet there was only 15. They sent me home with an antibiotic that should have been 75 mgs based on the procedure notes, yet the bottle said 100 mgs. I purchased pill pockets from them in the lobby and was charged 16.50 for a package that would cost 5.95 at most at the store. Talk about price gouging! My cat was still not feeling well a few weeks after the failed procedure. Poor appetite, isolating. I called LFAH and they prescribed some pain medication, Gabapentin. Four days later, I found my cat paralyzed, lying on the bathroom floor, crying out in pain. I called LFAH. They were too busy to see her and I took her to Boulder to an ER Vet. She had saddle thrombosis, blood clots in her heart that had spread to her legs and back. I had to euthanize my little girl. It was the most traumatic thing to see her in such severe pain and not being able to move. I do not know if the failed procedure brought on the thrombosis. Or if the mis recording of her weight and dosage of meds used based on the wrong weight had anything to do with it. I do know that surgery can create and throw blood clots in both humans and animals. Had i brought her in to a vet cardiologist before this botched procedure, I am sure I would have been advised not to go forward with it and she could have been put on heart medication. Silly me for trusting Dr. Barnes. What I do know is this clinic engages in sloppy record keeping that may affect the life and health of your pet. They also price gouge. They also seem to be more concerned with revenue and volume rather than doing the best thing for your pet. I have brought several pets to LFAH over the years. This practice has gone WAAAY down hill recently. They charge premium fees yet you are not getting premium care. Not even close. If your pet is healthy and going in for routine visits, then all is well. If your pet has any underlying conditions, BEWARE. Also, check EVERYTHING this clinic documents about your pets vitals and medication to ensure it is correct. DO NOT TAKE THEM AT THEIR WORD. The staff is obviously lacking in attention to detail. I spent $1200 to have my cats teeth polished and go into severe health decline. $300 to have her euthanized. I was reimbursed $55 for the pill pockets and for the pills I did not receive yet paid for. Had Dr. Barnes told me to take my cat to the cardio vet before considering this failed procedure, my cat would most likely be here today, sitting on my lap and purring. I will get another pet, but will never ever step foot in LFAH again. I do not recommend this practice. I would give 0 stars if I could.

When I first moved here, I tried a couple different vets, and one in particular was nuts. Anyway, Dr. Bob works very hard to figure out what is happening with our dogs, since they are_always_having something weird happening, being old, crazy, overbred dalmatians. He is good at thoroughly describing all the options so that you get to choose what to do in different situations. When my cat was dying, he was tremendously helpful in describing options while also being gentle and understanding. We love him!

All I wanted to do was leave a One Star review on Google without saying anything about my experience... since CCAPM keeps responding in their comments with my personal info and FALSE statements. Also, criticizing the lack of training, knowledge, and socialization I've done for my dog. When I read that then it starts to feel personal, especially with all the time and effort I've put into training her. I did take her to a trainer when she was younger as well. I've raised dogs, horses and cows my entire life! I know how to handle animals. Outside of this clinic she is very lovable and playful around people/animals. Kind, sensitive and knowledgeable are just a few words I would use to describe the staff. Turbo was relaxed and calm right to the end. He went very peacefully. I was never rushed and given plenty of space to say my last goodbye. They even let me go home after he passed to get my other pups to have their last moments with him to make sure they understood. They are more than just a clinic they are like family.

We used…read moreto come to Eastlake quite often, but unfortunately the last two visits left us very disappointed. The first visit was just for a check-up. At that time, I didn't want to vaccinate my cat yet because he wasn't acting like himself, and I wanted to wait until the next visit. I explained this, but throughout the appointment the nurse and doctor made several comments about how he needed vaccines and his rabies shot. I completely understand the importance of vaccines, but I felt pressured because I had already said I planned to do them--just not that day. The doctor then said they didn't want to do an exam if I was just going to come back later for vaccines, since they didn't want to charge me both times. It just left me feeling unheard and pressured rather than supported. The second visit was far more serious. My cat had vomited a reddish, dark brown liquid that looked like dried blood, and he was very lethargic. The nurse and front desk staff were kind, but my interaction with the doctor was upsetting. She barely let me speak, often cut me off, and made me feel like my questions were silly or unimportant. I had to show her pictures to prove my cat had vomited blood. When I asked about treatments, the way she explained things felt belittling instead of compassionate. They suggested an anti-nausea shot and ulcer medication, but when they took him back, they returned saying he "wasn't cooperating." The doctor never came back to talk to me herself--I only got information from the nurse. Instead of trying further, they just sent me home with medicine. It felt like she barely examined him and had already written him off. Another huge concern was the cost. I was quoted extremely high prices for x-rays and bloodwork, which I couldn't afford at the time. I would have tried to find options--CareCredit, pet loans, or even other clinics--but no one mentioned any of those resources. It wasn't until we went to another vet later that I learned about them. Sadly, by then it was too late. Our sweet kitty passed away from anemia at the end of July, he was 1.5 years old. I understand that vets have limits, and I know not everything can be affordable or easy. But what hurt the most was the lack of compassion and the way I felt dismissed and pushed away. When you're scared and heartbroken for your pet, compassion and communication mean everything and I wish we had received more of that during our visits here.

He had a non judgmental approach and gave us recommendations on food and shots without pressuring us. They have provided excellent and warm-hearted care for our cats from kittenhood to extreme old age. I think they are a little expensive but I feel that I can trust their advice and expertise, so I'm happy to stay with them.
