We went to meet them at a grooming place. The place smelled like dog pee and no one was smiling. The "vet" came over and asked if my dog had a heart condition, and I said yes. Then she told me she wouldn't do the dental cleaning. I filled out the intake paperwork weeks ago and it was obvious that she never read it. There was no warm welcome. There was no assessment as they claimed on their website. Another person was there for a dental cleaning at the same exact time. That was when I realized another dog was going to be right next to us; my dog doesn't get along with other dogs, so I'm so glad we didn't do it. I booked an appointment online about a month and a half in advance. I confirmed my appointment date and time via email, they emailed back confirming my appointment details. But when I arrived at my scheduled date and time, they didn't have me on the schedule and said they were leaving so they were unable to clean my dogs teeth. They apologized and said they would give me $15 off if I rescheduled. I had to use my PTO hours at work to go this appointment because they only do appointments the same time I'm at work. Only offering $15 off is frustrating. I will not be rescheduling, and would not recommend this business. read more

About a year ago, I took my dog to K9 Smiles per the recommendation of our trainer, and they did an excellent job. I couldn't believe how easily they got my 120 pound Bernese Mountain Dog to lay quietly on his back next to other dogs and even cats, and stay still for 45 minutes! So when I brought him back this year, I was VERY disappointed at the change in how both my dog and I were treated. I had registered and had a set time to come in, so they were aware that my dog is large and 120 pounds. When the older lady who listened to his heart looked at him, she told me that I was going to have to help because there were only three of them there, and one of them had slipped disks in her back. I basically had to flip my dog by myself, lay on top of him and hold him there. I'm 5'1" and about 125 myself, so I wasn't strong enough to hold him in that position, let alone for 45 minutes. Last year, they told me they had everything under control and I didn't have to do a thing. With only me holding him, he kicked loose, flipped over, and the older lady in the lab coat that had walked us in and did nothing stated that maybe he needed to be "drugged up a bit." That was it for me. They didn't try to do anything else to calm my dog down, there was no apology, no nothing. They just let us walk out. When I asked where the employees were that were so effective last year went, they stated that they no long worked there and there is now new ownership. I will never take my (now traumatized) dog back to K9 Smiles again. VERY DISAPPOINTING. read more

I will NOT do anesthesia when not needed. I have taken both of my dogs to K-9 Smiles in Greeley. My dogs were 6 and 7 years old on their first visit. This was their first teeth cleaning. Their teeth are in good condition because I take good care of their teeth. Therefore, their teeth did not have much tartar. They recommended them to return every 6 months. However, I am at almost 1 year now and their teeth still look great. I cannot speak for any dogs teeth that may be in bad shape. But when I went to K9 Smiles. They were working on several dogs, and the dogs lay there calmly and quietly and did not seem to be under any stress or pain. I did not witness any type of "cruelty" being done to any of them. The girls that were working on the dogs were very patient and comforting to the dogs. So, I don't understand the comment about "cruelty to animals." read more

If you have a large dog... AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! The technicians don't know how to work with large dogs. They clean only the front teeth and they don't clean the molars. To clean the molars would require two technicians. One to hold open the mouth using two hands and another to do the cleaning. There's only one technician per dog. My dog has a strong jaw and the technician Tori could not hold my dog's mouth open, so I offered to hold his mouth open while she did the cleaning but she said "no". Don't waste your time and money with K-9 Smiles. If you do decide to take your dog to K-9 Smiles avoid the technician Tori Parra because she's very dishonest. When I complained about Tori not cleaning my dog's molars she lied and said she had. I know that Tori did not clean the molars because I was there during the cleaning to hold my dog down. She wasn't able to hold open his mouth using just one hand. This is why I offered to hold his mouth open, but she didn't want to do the cleaning. She chose to lie instead. I was charged $270 for a 20 minute cleaning of just his front teeth. When I contacted the company they completely dismissed me because Tori the liar told everyone that she cleaned all his teeth. Tori said that what I wanted was cosmetic. Sorry, but I did not bring my dog there for cosmetic purpose. I brush my dog's teeth every night, but since I don't have extra hands to hold his mouth open (in order to reach his back teeth), I brought him to K-9 Smiles hoping they would be able to do the job. The staff at K-9 Smiles only care about taking your money and not about your dog's dental health. read more

Canine smiles did an excellent job with my little guy Bobo. He can be grouchy, which is why he has normally been put to sleep for teeth cleaning at our vet. However after reading how risky it is to put our Bobo under, I decided to look into other alternatives. I was of course hesitant, because Bobo is so grouchy. When we got to K9 smiles, they reassured me that they were not concerned. They greeted Bobo friendly and without concern. All smiles! I do NOT recommend this service under any circumstance. Had this company perform "dentals" on my dogs last year and while their teeth came out clean, there is absolutely no guarantee that they don't have problems under the gum line. Additionally, they broke a scaler in my dog's mouth and couldn't find the broken part, so assumed she swallowed it. Luckily they were honest about it and told me but their recourse was telling me to "feed her bread". Needless the say I flipped out and took her to my vet. Thankfully, she was fine but it caused a major scare. This year, I very reluctantly went back because the last time my dogs had anesthesia, they both got really sick. I spoke to the "vet" about my concerns and told her that if they can't guarantee not breaking another scaler in her mouth, I was likely not to have them perform the dentals. She said she could offer no guarantees. I then asked the techs if this had happened to them and they said yes. After further discussing my concerns the vet told me she wasn't comfortable performing the dentals because she felt I was threatening her. No where in there did I threaten her, I was just being honest. She was rude and unapologetic and showed no concern for me or my dogs. I decided to walk out without them performing the dentals. I will never use this company again and wouldn't recommend them under any circumstance. read more

Went to k-9 smiles in Golden and I wish I didn't. It was $400 total for 2 dogs ($200 each). I was originally quoted $600 for one dog for a teeth cleaning at the vet and I thought this would be a more affordable option. Walked into the location and there were techs sitting on yoga mats, with a dog rolled in a dirty towel, in between their legs to hold the dog down. They basically wrap your dog like a burrito in a towel to restrain your dog. They then use teeth scrapers to clean your dogs teeth while cleaning the dogs bloody teeth with a napkin. I wish I did more research prior to taking my dog here because this method is very painful for your pets and doesn't even clean teeth well The young techs were very nice.. now the older lady sitting on the couch, documenting the process and exam result for every dog (which by the way, both dogs had the same sentences written on them. Seems very generic and as though she was just writing it to write it. Not a very good dental exam), she was rude and had a resting b**** face for no reason. When we walked in, she was the first person we saw- no "hi" no nothing.. while the techs who were actually working, looked up to say hi. When the process was done, i saw a difference in tartar for both dogs. It's been a month and now the tartar is coming back and even quicker. I spoke to my vet and she informed me this type of dental cleaning doesn't get to the gums, which is why it's not helpful. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. Waste of money and I wish I used that $200 towards a REAL teeth cleaning read more

Very unprofessional service! Health concerns and stressful on the animal! My goodness, I would NOT recommend this service for cats. Unless your cat is ok with dogs being right next to them? They even let the animals touch! Which any vet would agree, this is a concern for pest/disease prevention. The "clinic" was a small office space with blankets on the floor, where all the vet techs sat waiting their turn to do some dental. Fleas anyone? You'd be ok if you were a dog owner with low expectations on service, but be prepared this service is really focused on getting as many customers in as possible. Unfortunately, without any consideration for the pet owner or the cat that is stressed by dogs. I had to ask them to stop what they were doing because they brought a dog into the same tiny space with the cat, while the cat was getting a cleaning. This is why I say this service is not for cats! They did not consult me at all and even argued that the cat was fine! HA! I also should mention that I had no idea what the cost was going to be, and when I asked for more information, it was like I was bothering them. The Poudre Pet and supply store retail help could not answer my question, and so gal working had to get someone from K-9 smiles to answer my question. When the vet came up, it was as if I had interrupted her! I guess I was slowing down the dental cleaning factory!! lol A major disappointment in the level of care provided. I found this service from my local pet shop in Parker. My dog's teeth had a lot of tartar on them and I knew they needed them cleaned. It was amazing to see how much they could remove with the dogs awake. I don't think it's quite as deep of a cleaning as you get from the vet when you put them under which is why I give this 4 stars rather than 5. You could probably do this every year for the dogs and maybe every leap year have the vet do the deep clean. They gave a full report of their dental hygiene when I picked the dogs up. I like that no drugs are used. This is much less costly than a vet's teeth cleaning. In Parker they were at my pet/grooming shop, and from the looks of things they travel all over to make it easy to deliver and pick up your pets. read more
