I love this place!!! Not only do they know what is updated in toys, supplements, food and treats, they care about if the product is what your pet needs. My vet suggested food for my ailing pet... her kidneys were doing poorly. Karen suggested a different diet altogether and I know we enjoyed a healthy Lilly four years after the vet said she would be gone. Ask questions on what food is best for your pet and they will take care of you and your furry friend. The selection of U.S. made toys are great. They are connected and deal with companies that use quality ingredients and are GREEN. Yep!!! I buy a dry dog food that recycles the bag into park benches! What the heck!!! I love everything this company does for our world, shops U.S. and cares about our furry kids! I suggest this place to everyone. read more

I LOVE PAWS! I wish other reviewers would focus on the positive of Paws instead of the negative about OTHER specific stores in their reviews. I want to make my own opinion about THIS shop! For those not in the know, Paws used to be on State Street many years back, but now is on New York Street across from the Toyota dealership in Redlands (from Citrus Plaza, head east on Lugonia just past Jack in the Box and Home Depot). This huge new location is a warehouse-style supershop for cats and dogs. I have a cats and now a dog, and after doing tons of research on pet diets, I decided that a mostly raw, grain-free diet would be best for all the pets. Do you know how hard it is to find GOOD raw food at other shops? It's hard. Paws has TONS of great pet food in different STYLES of food; kibble, frozen, freeze-dried, roasted, canned, etc. They carry a few of my favorite brands, including Nature's Variety, Tiki, Stella and Chewy's, and Merrick's. The employees are really helpful, and can help you select a food if you're new to this like I am. They do mostly have dog and cat products; I found some other pet supplies for birds and the like, but if you're a fish or reptile enthusiast, this isn't the shop for you. They do have things like pet beds, cat trees, leashes, collars, toys, etc. I didn't spend as much time on those products since I was in search of food. They have their own cats that prowl the shop; they're friendly, and mostly like to sleep and sun themselves. However, Lenny and Squiggy DO attempt to eat some of the cat food in bags, so be sure to head to the front of the store and see what "Lenny Specials" they have (cat opened bags of food; XD). I love petting Lenny; he "chatters" at me and I get a kick out of talking cats. I like that they help you carry heavy purchases to your car. I like that they recycle bags and encourage you to bring your own. I like that they keep your name in the computer so they can remember you and what your pet likes; and they can e-mail you a receipt so no wasted paper. I LOVE that they support the Humane Society, pet adoptions, and the Redlands Dog Park. GREAT mom and pop shop with excellent deals on food. If you have cats or dogs, you have to at least check this place out and see what you've been missing. I like that they have a lot of information available throughout the store explaining why certain diets are better for your pet (and will end up costing you less in vet bills). These folks are great. They truly care about animals. I originally was buying a brand suggested by my vet. I later found out that Paws does not cary this. Rand because of the ingredients that this particular brand included. Found out that EVEN OUR TRUSTED VETS are more interested in profits than the welfare of our pets. ThenPaws staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable. Will never go anywhere else. Side note. Please make sure before you adopt a pet, that it is the right fit for you and tour family. read more

I rarely give five stars, but Paws deserves it. We decided to look for a much healthier food than what our pup was on and didn't want to go with the crowd for the overly priced Blue (which still isn't as good as it gets) at the chain pet stores. We went here and one of the staff literally walked through the store with us and helped us find the right food at the right price. Couldn't have asked for more from them! Fast forward 8 months and I was there getting a bag of food like normal, and Karen started chatting with me and loving on our girl since I brought her in that day. She took time out of what she was doing and talked to me about the HUGE benefits of integrating RAW diet into our dog's food. I could tell that she wasn't just trying to up-sell her products, but truly believed in the product itself. That kind of passion isn't found in normal pet stores! All I can say, is Karen was right about adding RAW food into our dog's diet. We're seeing a huge change in her and her digestion. We will always come here and love everybody working there! Previously located in downtown Redlands, before the accidental fire, I was worried that PAWS was going to go out of business at the time. Alas they just relocated to a different area of Redlands. This is my Mecca for my two dogs (Lab-Dalmatian & Great Dane), they absolutely love this place. They just walk as they please sniffing all the food, treats and toys. As far as merchandise. This place has it all. Albeit it's not your Purina-type of store, this place has all the grain-free/specialty dog/cat food you might need, the toys selections are great and the service is outstanding! The owner is a BIG fan of Great Danes, and he usually will feed my dogs some treats when they visit. If you're looking for niche and unique products you can find it here. Wish they were a little closer in proximity to where I live, but there is no other place like it. Nonetheless my dogs and I enjoy the trip out. read more

I stumbled upon Paws while searching for my lost dog (we found him that day!). What a great spot! While it is a little expensive, the product lines they care are top notch, and they are a LOCAL store, so no supporting a big corporate chain. The former location had a fire, and they now have a new location at: 912 N. New York St. Suites B&C which is between Colton and Lugonia. They keep a database of customers, so when you go there and say, What was that treat I get for Max?, they can look it up and tell you. Returns are a breeze! They also have training classes available, and I believe class members get discounts. read more

Was happy to find this place...i always get my dog primal frozen food she's picky so we get her nuggets because she won't eat the scoop or patties. I always got her food in LA cause that's where I used to work now living out here it's hard to find we had a great place we were going to but they forgot to order our food for her two weeks in a row...so they told me they could order I told them no cause at this point she was needing it by Monday and with their track record who's knows when I would get it so I went on primals website found this place as a dealer for them and went !!! They had so many varieties of protein and were so much cheaper than I was paying at the other place! This is for sure going To be my new spot for her food! read more

I can't believe I'm the first person to review Paws. It's my "go to" place for everything cat. They have a great selection and will take something back if your pet doesn't like it. If they are out of stock on something, just let them know and they will call you when it gets in. They also support the Redlands Humane Society and the dog park. Love this place! Went for the first time today because I needed Nature's Variety food for my cats and refuse to buy it from places like Petco that sell animals. They were really nice and there were the cutest little kittens running around the store that are up for adoption. I've been patronizing PAWS since they were located on State st. It's been run by the same, very nice family for years. I like that they helped me find a very comparable food since they didn't have the brand I was looking for. They didn't know about the product, but they researched it there on the spot! Karen also recommended a dog trainer for me. I deployed with the Army in recent history and when I came back my dog had severe separation anxiety and developed bad aggression. Sue Stevenson is the lady Paws put me in touch with and she is one of the best animal handlers I've come into contact with ever. This store is pretty busy though, if you need an item or information it's best to visit in person. Phone messages get misplaced easily. It's REALLY nice that this mom and pop shop is open on Sundays since its the only day off I have. read more

I love Paws. I know my mom went to their store for years at their old location because we had a picky Persian cat. Now that I have my own kitties an have moved back to to area, I come in to get Origen cat food. The employees are fantastic and so helpful. They really go above and beyond to help you find what is right for your pet. It helps that they have experience with their own critters and can tell you what they have seen. Also, they have a guarantee policy so if your pet is picky about a new food you can return it and try a new one! I will continue to be a frequent patron of this awesome pet store not only to but my pets' food, but to see their sweet kitties and swap stories with the fantastic employees. A+ Paws! read more

Doesn't sell innocent animals, not even fish! True animal advocate approved! :) I love Paws for many reasons, but mostly because they don't sell animals and they truly advocate adoption. This is the first pet store that I have been to that does not sell any animals, even fish. It's always so heartbreaking if you are a true animal lover to see animals being sold. Countless times I have visited other pet stores were fish are dying in tanks or puppies are penned up in cages waiting for someone to buy them, it was to the point I was ordering my dogs food online it was just too sad to visit a pet store, that is until I found Paws. The young men who work there are always helpful and offer to carry my heavier items (I decline mostly but the offer is so nice). I absolutely love Paws. I think the thing that draws me in the most to this establishment are that the owners really have a love for what they do and a philosophy for why they're doing it. I can remember the first time we visited, back when they were located on State Street. We got into the most engaging conversation with someone there about animal nutrition and pet food labels. What an eye opener. Four years ago, we adopted a kitten we saw hosted at Paws by the Redlands Humane Society. We're a huge supporter of animal adoption and love that Paws supports that as well. We love that they have store cats roaming around. It gives the place such personality and character. Those cats must think they own the store! Their new location is so much bigger than their last, and probably gives them a lot more to work with. It's a little off the beaten path now, but we'll keep coming to Paws regardless! It's been 4 years now for us, and it'll be many, MANY more to come. read more

I've been coming here for years and have always bought my dog food here. I've been using the same brand but decided to give another brand a try so I bought 2 bags (I usually buy 2 bags at a time). My dog got an allergic reaction to the new brand and so I brought the food back to switch with the old brand. They would not take back my return because I did not have the original bag and insinuated that I could have contaminated it. Like most dog owners, I empty the bag into a dog container so I didn't have the bag. I understand as a business that you do not have to take back the return. But as a loyal customer that's been coming here for years, purchased over 100 bags combined between myself and my sister, it would have been nice for you to at least replace 1 of the 2 bag that my dog can no longer eat and is allergic to. Once a loyal customer, now not a customer at all. read more

Love Paws! This store probably has everything you need for your furry family member and they will order items that they don't have for you if possible. The staff is great--they are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I really like how they don't make you feel uncomfortable by putting you under a microscope but they are totally available if you need them and never seem bothered. I've been meaning to give a review for their dog training session. With the store, I feel that I can certainly give them a higher rating for their great customer service, the product they carry and the cleanliness of the store as well as their product knowledge. I was highly disappointed with their trainer Deborah and how she was not informative of my progress with my dog to become a therapy dog. She was nice and well experience on the phone before meeting her and I felt comfortable to take her classes with my dog. I met her on the first day, as I was the only one signed up for her therapy class. So, she decided to put my dog in the beginning class with an agreement to take the Good Citizen test with no additional fee along with the therapy certificate. I agreed because I trusted her due to her years of experience, but it was a big mistake and a waste of time for my dog. It was not an appropriate setting to learn and grow from among puppies. My dog is 2 years old with much more training. Throughout the training, I thought we were doing a great job following directions and my dog properly obeying my commands until to the point closer to the end of the training session. I brought my fiance to the class and he was informed of my status by Deborah. I did not appreciate her eager comments to my fiance as she had decided to share her personal thoughts to him rather than speaking to me directly. I had to find out my progress through my fiance that same day after the training. So, I immediately was not comfortable with our progress and worked harder with the commands. I asked her one day after the training to see what we needed work on. She dismissed me and said she had to pack up and urgently had to leave. I felt that she was not honest with me and was difficult to work with after that. Last day of class, she was not at all nice to us. It was my fault for being late 10 minutes, but it was not a reason to change persona. She told me that my dog is dirty in front of everyone there. Yes, my dog was dusty because he was playing in our backyard prior to our training, which was my reason for being late and was not able to clean him after his play time. Second, she informed me that the store manager was complaining about dogs peeing in their storage/garage area where the training was located. She directed that statement to me in front of everyone there as my dog was sniffing around the back area. The reason why he was sniffing was that the garage/storage was infested with mice. The whole class saw them running quickly and of course I knew my dog was sniffing not because of the bags of food stored behind us, but because of these infestation. I wanted to throw up after seeing the first mouse run along the doorway, but the 4th time, I was use to seeing them. Finally, she confessed to having doubts about passing one dog. She stated that she has mixed feelings about passing this particular dog, which ultimately meant it was my dog. She had the nerve to say that out loud and it was so obvious who she was referring to since we were the only ones who did not receive a certificate during the last session. At the end, I said my good byes to the other dogs and their parents and I left without having word with Deborah who insisted in the very beginning that she was going to help my dog become a therapy dog and how she was so adamant in training us but to actually felt disrespected at the end made it more hurtful than being embarrassed in front of everyone there that I enjoyed meeting. Paws is a great store with very helpful employees that are passionate about what they do, but Deborah made me back off this place. She likes to talk about herself being an actress and so forth over dog training information. I do not feel like I did get my money's worth and Deborah being condescending was the worst experience I've had with any services I've received. Maybe it's the way I treated my dog that she didn't like. I treat my dog as if he was my son, loving and absolutely caring for his needs and would do anything to keep him healthy and happy. I'm not sure what her reasons are, but I do not refer Paws' training classes with Deborah. read more
