I have had the absolute worst time with their grooming service. They make appointments and then keep the dogs for hours. They overbook and don't let customers know. Communication is horrible. Jamie is not good with customer service, she makes things worse. We stopped coming and decided to give them a chance and they have had my dog there since 9am, it is now 2pm with zero communication, I had to call and Jamie tried telling me I didn't have an appointment. read more

Well, I walked in and I was not greeted by the girl with dark hair (shoulder length)... On a Thursday evening at 5:15 PM I tried to ask her something about birds. I guess she didn't hear me? Then I was walking around looking at cat food. She proceeded to look busy and then I grabbed my cat food walked around the register... and she was talking to this guy about a CD and music he liked and total about 15 minutes of me being in the store and I wasn't even acknowledged- so I started to walk out the door... I visited the store to purchase a pet rat for my son and was assisted by Emma, who initially told me there were no female rats available. However, she later found one for me. Unfortunately, after a week, I discovered that the rat was actually male. When I called the store to inform them and requested assistance from the assistant manager, Ashley, I was told she could help before 3 PM. Upon arrival, Ashley was unavailable, and I received assistance from another person who introduced himself as the assistant manager but turned out to be the actual manager. Despite separating the rats as suggested by another very nice employee, my female rat, which was initially not supposed to be a pet, sadly passed away due to stress. Seeking a solution, I called today to inform Ashley of the situation and asked if she could choose a male rat, preferably white, and handle him for hand training. Given the previous experience, the role of Emma, the manager being deceptive and Ashley telling to come in and not being available, I didn't consider this request unreasonable. I was still willing to do business with Uptown. However, Ashley's response today was less than satisfactory. She asked, "What is the point of this call?" despite my explanation at the beginning. I reiterated that I wanted to purchase a white male rat, but her dismissive attitude left me dissatisfied with the customer service. read more

I can't tell you how amazing this store is. They made my experience easy and I could feel the love and care they give to the pets. Justin was kind and answered every question I had and put my father at ease (my dad lives in Georgia) we were in the market to buy a bearded dragon and my dad was helping me buy for my 10 year old. Justin just made me feel at ease. Originally we wanted a baby beardie, butttttt my little girl held the bigger one who has been there for a bit of time and they both just fell in love with each other. He set up my tank prior to leaving so all I had to do was plug it in. Ugghhh I can't tell you as a customer how amazing this experience was. Seriously...everrrytime I come here there is some new excuse as to not help the customer. A couple of months ago their card machine wasn't working, another time in September their fish expert wasn't there...lol. really? And tonight, they don't sell live animals an hour before closing because of theft and she also threw in there animals shouldn't be sold past 6...wtf? Not Sure if the 6pm rule is some weird Gremlin belief or what. And I have gone in there many times and nobody was at the counter. Honestly I'm so aggravated first of all when you walk in barley anyone is wearing masks and I have a chameleon so I need crickets they are always low on supply of them and when I went in there they only had small so I had to get more so I asked for 30 crickets and payed $3 when the person comes out with the crickets I say this doesn't look like 30 and she gives me attitude and says yea there is 30 small crickets so I walk out and the bag isn't closed all the way so the calcium is flying everywhere and if you look in the photo there is not 30 crickets in the bag completely enraged. read more

AVOID this place! Their groomer killed my dog! I went to have my mini Aussie groomed. She really needed a hair cut summer cut. Spent $70. When I went to pick her up our dog was left in the cage with no water and freaked out my dog causing her to have a stroke. Then we spent $700 in vet bills to diagnose the issue. Turns out because of her mistreatment in the groomer triggered her stroke. UPTOWN PETS KILLED MY BEST FRIEND! read more

Uptown Pets is a great local Pet Shop and supply store in upper Yucaipa, the entire staff is knowledgeable and friendly and they care about finding you the right pet, or the pet supply item you may need, they assisted with helping my family select a pet hamster, they make sure the animals in their care are properly socialized with people before they are sold to customers, unlike the big box pet stores, you end up getting a friendly pet that you don't have to worry about biting the kids. I bought some dog food here about 2 to 3 weeks ago and I was assured by the employee that that was the same dog food that I bought prior because they have your purchase history in the computer I guess but my dog is having bad stomach upset from this particular dog food so I contacted the store to see if they would return it or exchange it for something else and they were not helpful at all. After spending $50 on a bag of dog food I'm not just gonna throw it out in this economy and how much prices are and stuff you would think they would at least try to exchange it or do something to keep a return customer but I guess not. obviously this food is not the food I bought here before because my dog will not eat it and he's having bad stomach upsets. the employees aren't really friendly and there's nobody at the counter sometimes to help you. I guess I will just drive myself to Redlands Petco even though I live here in Yucaipa. I thought this being a smaller business They would have better customer service as far as exchanges and returns, but I guess not. read more

I bring my doodle over to Yucaipa where they always do a great grooming job. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the groomer does a really good job. When I called to get an appointment, it was a long wait because they only had two groomers and one was out but that she would be back in soon and their availability would be better. I left my name/number and they actually called me and told me they'd be available 10/8 at 8AM. I drove from LONG BEACH for the grooming appointment only to find my appointment had been CANCELLED but no one called me/informed me. First of all the employees are great but the owner sucks. Everytime i go in there and need to talk to the owner about some stuff they always say that shes not there. When i tried to talk to her about maybe changing the 10$ minimum they always say that shes not there. And when she is in there she doesn't know much of anything about the dog and cat food, but also the reptiles. And when i asked her for some crickets she said "gimme a sec" and ran to one of the employees and made them grab the crickets. Like why cant you grab them?? read more

I love not having to drive all the way to petco or petsmart to get my dog's brand. (Blue Buffalo) this place is right down the street and they have such a huge brand selection. I do wish they had the smaller wet food containers of Blue Buffalo instead of the large cans, as wet food is usually a special treat for my dog. But that's ok. :) they have the dry food which is more important for us. Lots of small animal options too like hay and Oxbow brand food. ALSO got my little guinea pig here and she is a real sweet heart. Plan on getting another one from here for a friend for her soon. Thank you guys!! Love this place! :D I drive by it frequently up at the east end of Yucaipa Boulevard and convinced my boyfriend to stop one time. We were in need of a pleco for our friends' fish tank that was being infested with algae. We stopped in and were immediately greeted, as well as being chirped at by two VERY friendly conures; I've never seen birds that friendly at a chain pet store before. One even tilted his head forward because he wanted his head scratched. The woman helped us pick a pleco, which I can happily say has been alive for a couple months now! (The friend who owns the tank has been known to neglect the fish, so this new pleco as well as algae discs have worked out better). When I found a stray dog that I took in (and then ended up keeping), I decided to come back to Uptown Pets because I remembered them having a good selection of natural and holistic pet food. I remembered right! When I came back, I was again greeted by a really nice lady who clearly knew her pet information. I told her I was trying to keep my dog on a very natural diet, and she asked lots of questions (size, breed, age, sensitivities etc) to help me find some great food. The place has an EXCELLENT selection of natural dog food at GREAT prices for the quality! They have Innova, Canidae, Wellness, Natural Balance, Tiki, Stella & Chewy's, Merrick, and Taste of the Wild. I saw a Canidae bag that had a BUY ONE GET ONE coupon that Uptown Pets taped to the bag. So I got two 5-lb bags of Canidae for under $15. GREAT deal! Certain brands have frequent buyer cards so after a number of purchases the next bag is free. I also like that when I had questions about chicken bones (cooked? raw? what's safe?) the woman was great about explaining it to me. They also have a good natural CAT food selection as well! They usually have samples of some foods up front, and I got a sample of Stella & Chewy's for my cats. Now even my finicky older cat is hooked! They have decent reptile, fish, small pet and bird sections. The space for those pets is smaller, but not bad for quality. Lots of great stuff. They even have natural pet wellness events and tooth cleanings! I WILL be back here for my natural dog food when I'm in the area; so happy there's a local business that has great selection and great prices that ALSO loves pets and treats customers with kindness! This used to be my favorite pet shop I went there for everything! Lately the service has been bad, and tonight was the last straw. 3 employees behind the counter, I'm barely greeted after I walk past them, I get my dog food, and go to get inline behind a gentleman returning items. Apparently the card that all three employees were signing was much more important then helping the gentleman in front of me. After standing there for literally about 3 minutes, someone says to him "oh we will be right with you".... like all three people behind the counter had just noticed him standing there. I will be taking my business elsewhere. The free bag of dog food after buying 10 bags isn't worth the lack of service here. Good luck Uptown Pets!
