I've been bringing my dogs to uptown pets for grooming for years. I loved Penny the groomer. But the new groomer Jenifer is never consistent. She always tries to over charge me even though my dogs prices/services are on file. I've complained twice now, but this time she charged double what my card file says, for the same basic service! I'm done- I am now looking for a new groomer who can consistently give good service and honor their pricing. read more

My 6-year old golden retriever had never been professionally groomed (I know, I'm a bad dog mom). Jamie did an wonderful job lightening her thick and overgrown undercoat without removing any of her luscious locks that makes her a golden. She got all the matted, thick knots of hair out from around my dog's big butt and gently removed any and all foxtails. She was very gentle with my dog and even put cute bows in her hair. I love that she called me when my pup was almost ready and needed her human there as she was kind of getting tired, and Jamie needed to shave some knots off around her ears. My pup was happy as a clam though when I arrived and all evening. Especially because we recently had a heat wave. Jamie even put some conditioner in her coat to help prevent further knotting. I couldn't be happier. I will be coming here again. My Golden is 65lbs and she only charged me $55. read more

So glad I found this awesome shop. I refuse to take my pets to Petsco or Petsmart so they can be frightened and held for hours. I have been going here for years and now I refuse to step foot here again. I have spent a lot of money here between food for all of my animals (which I have a lot) and pets. Last experience I bought 2 birds which I only wanted 1 but they said had to keep together so I did. Few days later one of the birds died not from my doing. When I called they refused to do anything even after I returned the other bird. The owner knows who I am and refused to do anything. I purchased some crickets and had about half of them die in under 48 hours. I emailed the store hoping for some sort of response and they have chosen not to respond. Below is my email to them, I sent this on the 27th and it's the 1st. I have purchased Tony's crickets again and have had no issues. There's definitely a problem with Uptown's product. Hey guys! So I decided to give you guys a try and I came in on Monday and bought crickets from you guys... Well at first I was excited because I thought I got a bunch of crickets for only $4.50... Well that night I noticed that quite a few of the crickets had died in the cricket keeper, and then now two days later I looked in there and probably about half of them died! I would say maybe it was something that I did or something that they had contact with, except for the fact that I have been dealing with crickets for five months now and I've never had anything like this happen with them crickets before... i've always gotten my crickets from Tony's pets, or from a pet store in Hemet... This is the first Time more than a couple of crickets have died! I'm emailing basically to say that I'm pretty disappointed in the product that I just bought from your store, and also just in case something is wrong with the crickets and needs fixing. EDIT TO SAY - we give them gut load cricket drink which is their food and water supplement and they still died. I understand living animals die but of all the times I've purchased and cared for them we have NEVER had more than a few die. My beardie eats them quickly! The fish have ICK (a very bad parasite that can destroy your entire tank and kill everything) they use tap water for the fish and they resell abandoned animals that people bring in, some of which are sick, and they resell them at regular prices. They also buy animals from people that are not licensed and they do not know, who walk in the store to make quick cash and end up in heartbreak for the new owner when the sick animal dies- which might even be illegal? The store "manager" Craig is abusive towards his staff and condescending towards customers. Most of the junior staff are great and hard-working animal lovers though who are knowledgeable. The owner only cares about profit and not the animals and has no sense of ethics when it comes to the business decisions she makes. There are better pet stores to support than Uptown Pets. read more

They sell EXPIRED FOOD! We adopted our kitten from YAPS on August 4th of this year. We had gone to uptown pets to buy basic supplies because the kitten was in the car with is & it would have been too far of a drive to go to Redlands or Beaumont with her for the first time. I bought her a bag of Canidae life stages food on August 4th, the day we adopted her. Ever since she had been eating that food she was having HORRIBLE diarrhea. We finally now have her on a food that doesn't upset her stomach, but it probably also helps that the food isn't expired! This food expired in JULY of 2018! I was serving my kitten expired food & it was the first bag on the shelf. It shouldn't have even been on the shelf! Yes I should have checked but that day was crazy & really, i shouldnt be expecting to buy expired food. Also, the customer service here is completely horrible. I get my dogs food here, but not a huge fan of the price and size of the crickets. If you need them go to Tony's he sells them for a buck and gives you more than 25! I recently moved to Yucaipa and wanted to purchase from the hometown business. I went into the store and purchased their parrot seed as it was very clean. I ordered 2-20# bags the first time from them and had no problem. The second (and definitely the last time) I ordered, I was told to make sure I ordered in advance so I didn't run out of seed. I placed my order well in advance and was told it would be 2weeks before I received it. I said no problem. When the order came in (plus no one called me as promised), I went to the store and it was not the right seed. I was promised three different dates as to when the correct seed would come in. Now this morning I am told it will be another 1-1/2 weeks. Guess I will forget helping the hometown businesses and go back to ordering on the internet. Uptown Pets didn't act like they really wanted to resolve the problem. I did not receive good customer service. Go somewhere to buy your parrot seed. read more

Took my yorkie in for grooming and the girl BUTCHERED my dog. 1st of all he didnt even smell clean or bathed! she didnt cut his nails and his haircut was a disaster. A toddler could have done a better job and i am not exaggerating. I was in a hurry when i had picked him up that evening and when i got home i kept noticing patches on him, his paw hairs were cut uneven, his haircut was uneven. I went back to talk to the manager (craig or greg, not sure about the name) and he was very rude, said my dog looked fine when that was not the case. He said he would have the owners call me and they never did. I cant believe he thought the grooming was good when even a blind person could see it was not. My guest noticed the disaster of the haircut. They charged me 50 dollars for butchering my dog! 50 dollars for such a poor service. I will never ever come back and give them my business. Never again and please do yourself a favor and do not bring your dog here. Poor service and the manager craig/greg is super rude and nasty. read more

I always go to Uptown pets for my pet needs. They offer great quality food, and prices are always fair. As for customer service, the managers could certainly use a quick course in customer service. I ran into an issue over a fish tank, that was dealt very poorly by one of the female managers. I was able to contact the owners, and they dealt with the matter accordingly. The owners are very kind people, and they value their customers greatly. I will continue to enjoy shopping at uptown pets, due to the wonderful ownership. p.s. My first visit to this nice looking pet shop was a TOTAL FAIL as far as customer service goes. I went there around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday with $300 CASH in my pocket to buy about 25 fish and some aquarium supplies. I THOUGHT the owner and his co-workers would be happy to see me and help me out, but perhaps I just looked like a poor senior citizen whom they could not bother to waste their time on. BAD MOVE. Consider the following: 1. No arrival greeting. 2. At the display aquariums I saw whom I think was the owner helping out an Asian lady and her child. At NO time did he ever introduce himself to me, or even acknowledge my existence. The PROPER thing to do would be to introduce yourself and say something along these lines: Thank you for coming to see us today, I will be with you in just a couple of minutes when I am finished with this customer." Simple, easy and how all workers should handle such a situation 3. He leaves with the lady and the child in tow and I assume he or another worker will be right back to help me out, as I had already chosen the fish I wanted. BUT NO. 4. 10, 15 and then 20 minutes go by and while other workers saw me, NONE bothered to introduce themselves or ask if they could help me out. What is wrong with these people? 5. After waiting longer, I finally gave up......and walked right by the cash register area where several workers were busy having a seeming gabfest. Of course, there was NO departure greeting, as in: "Thanks for coming in today. I hope you return soon." EPIC fail and a loss of a nice $300 sale. I wonder how many times a week that happens and what the total dollar loss is on an annual basis. If I were the owner I would take pause to understand how this was allowed to happen on his watch. I just bought a very expensive custom 150-gallon tank and it will need a lot of fish and other equipment and supplies over the coming years. Guess where I will NOT be coming to spend my money after driving 30 miles round-trip on my initial visit? read more
