I took my parents dog to the groomer yesterday and this is how I get him back. At first I figured it was just razor burn/cut it happens but it's legit gushing blood all over. I was charged double 120$ because the owner said his hair was to long. I called them to ask about what happened and not once did she apologize all she said was your dog was very hairy you might want to get off the phone with me and take him to the vet. I had heard great things about PBP, so, when my 11 yr old Maltese needed a cut because it was so hot outside and her regular groomer wasn't available - we went here. Open the door and it reeeeekkked like urine and dirty dogs. It was almost unbearable and I turned to leave a few times because there wasn't anyone at the counter and then she came out. Rude rude rude, she was. The dogs in the back were screaming. It was a mess in there. No A/C. She didn't go over pricing and then picked a fight with me when I came to get my dog who was riddled with anxiety for 2 days after. It was really disgusting. I don't normally say that but for the sake of our loved pets - find a clean environment with friendly and professional people. Pawprints is a stellar operation! Penny gives me a few hours off on a Saturday while grooming my pups so I can clean the house and wash the dog bedding. While they are there, I am confident they will be taken care of with the utmost respect! Why!? Because we have been going there since I got my pup 13 years ago and then my 2nd joined us a few years later. Penny offered to have me bring my puppy and drop him off for an hour or so, BEFORE he was even ready to be groomed, while he got used to the atmosphere and felt the vibration of the clippers and he heard the sound of scissors, and felt what it was like to get brushed, and she used a hair drier on him etc. She allowed me to do this for the first 3 mos. She practiced with the puppy until he needed his first grooming. Who in the world do you know would do that for FREE!? I do not know if she does this any more, but when she owned her first shop on Niagara St. that is what she did. When I picked Jordan up, I received his picture from getting his first bath and his first lock of fur!! Wow!! When London came into our family she allowed London to travel along with Jordan for groomings until she needed to be groomed herself, also for FREE! Penny takes care of both pups who have serious allergies and specific needs. Our family loves all of the staff at Penny's for the great care they take with our little fur babies. When I read of bad reviews I can only think it was a bad day, or maybe you did not understand the gift of four hours off without your pup, or maybe you do not understand how absolutely gentle and caring Penny and her staff are with our pets. Penny, her sons and her staff literally treat my babies like their babies and always deliver them in pristine condition. This world of social media can be a wonderful tool but it can also be a detriment. Lets try to read between the lines here and see Pawprints for what it is... a longstanding honest business who has won several awards and has been recognized for outstanding business practices. Love their daycare program (and so does my dog!) It can sometimes be hard to know what's going on behind closed doors when you trust someone else with your fur-baby but it's obvious they do a great job. 1) My dog comes home tired from playing but not insanely over-stimulated. So, it must be good, structured play with breaks and supervision as needed. 2) Every time we walk by (we live in the neighborhood), my dog wants to go in. There's no question he loves the atmosphere, other dogs, and staff. I wish they were open later in the evening to make pickup easier. My dog is a regular in the daycare program. Penny and her staff are so very loving with all the pets. Penny also donates a significant amount of time to groom rescue dogs without any consideration of payment. Every action the staff takes is for the benefit of the dogs. The best news is Penny and Staff have opened a beautiful facility located on Niagara Street for the big dogs with a big outdoor play yard. This location will also offer overnight stays. This has been my favorite groomer in Buffalo for a long time until I started getting too lazy to drive out there... Allen is such a hassle with parking sometimes. Where do I even start with these guys though? They're so incredible with my "dogter." I'm kind of a helicopter mom when it comes to my dogs so it takes a lot for me to say this, but I definitely trust them with my dog. The soap they used on her made her break out badly (not their fault, she just has sensitive skin), and when I told them about this the next time they were happy to help accommodate this with different soap. Let's take money, nobody can beat their prices! It's so refreshing to see a business that seems to puts the wellbeing of the dogs before themselves, and for that I have stayed quite loyal to going there. It would be pretty neat to see them expand soon and open another store elsewhere for us folks out in the north towns. When I pick my pup up from them she's always happy, smells wonderful, and has no lose fur. They do an excellent job and getting all of the dog hair off of her after her bath (my black clothing thanks you). read more

We took our dog here for a summer trim. The smell of the place was nearly unbearable: a mixture of urine and ammonia. I considered not leaving my dog there but then decided I was being overly sensitive. I wish I had. The shave left my dog with numerous cuts and nicks. That has never happened at my old groomer. I need more stars to rate Pawprints by Penny; I need a galaxy of stars. I trust this business like no other. Alfredo doesn't sleep in a kennel when he is boarding; he sleeps just as he would when he's in the comfort of our home - in the open and wherever he wants. He's so exhausted from a day of daycare that he sleeps for two days straight. I can't explain it, but while I keep him pretty clean, I swear he always comes home from Pawprints smelling like he was just groomed. They just opened their agility pool. I'm so excited to watch Alfredo swimming (via videos posted on their FB wall) and beyond relieved to not have to worry about my anxiety level taking him to a lake. After Alfredo was badly attacked at a dog park a year ago, he's overly protective of himself. Much to my dismay, he is proactive and growls and snaps at other dogs without rhyme or reason. I'm a hot mess about this because he's been kicked out of other daycares and/or muzzled resulting in my being a neurotic dog owner. Penny's staff take time to listen me ramble EVERY time I drop 'fredo off and pick him up. They take time to understand his behavior, his warnings and subsequently have had no issues with him. My dog is thriving! He's even better to walk when there are other dogs around. Penny's staff treat my dog the way I treat my dog - with genuine love and firmness. When we arrive and he's so excited to play, he tries to jump on the staff, they always correct this behavior. Other daycares to which I've taken Alfredo do not address his jumping. As a result, the more I take him there, the better behaved he is! (That alone is worth their very reasonable rates!) With regards to grooming: there is no better place. I drive 30 minutes each way to take Alfredo here for the quality and care. In response to the other review commenting on the stink of the facility, I have gone to Pawprints for over a year now, have a painfully sensitive nose and squirm incessantly when it comes to poor hygiene; I never once (even remotely) had any of those observations. The place is spotless and there is no smell/stink to note whatsoever. Love, warmth, kindness and compassion is clearly the only way at Pawprints by Penny. I don't know if I get more excited to drop Alfredo off there or if he is more excited than I when we pull into their parking lot. It's easy to forget that this is a business because dropping off my guy there is like dropping him off with family. Penny, Conrad, Alex, Macie, Margaret and Meghan treat my sweet Alfredo like he is a real boy; they each know his personality, his likes and his dislikes. I see them love him like their own and this means more to me than anything. I'm constantly inspired and in awe of each of their uniquely gentle and beautiful energy. I treat Alfredo like a child, probably because he's the closest thing I've got to one. Pawprints by Penny make being a dog owner better than you can imagine. This doggy day care is the best I have ever known. My dog is about 10 months old, and a large breed, and Conrad and Margaret have made his days filled with joy and good play. The dogs all get along and are able to run in a large fenced in space, with toys and a POOL. Best of all, the dog extra's include pool lessons, grooming, boarding, and Massages!!!! When your dog attends this daycare--they come home tired and less stressed and happy. Penny lets us drop off our dog in the morning for grooming, and pick up after work without extra charge for keeping her all day. Prices are lower than other groomers we've used. I LO VED taking Birdy here. My husband and I recently relocated, otherwise she would still be going there for daycare and boarding! She was always excited when we pulled into the parking lot of their Niagara Street location and the friendly staff always greeted her by name. Conrad is so kind and helpful and always gave me an honest assessment of how she did at daycare that day. I also used them lots of times for overnight boarding. It is super affordable and great to know she is hanging with her friends at daycare during the day and sleeping with them all at night in the supervised, cage-free boarding setting. I also loved seeing her picture in their daily daycare photos. Birdy always came home sleepy and happy. I couldn't recommend this place more! read more

I'm so glad I found Pawprints. Great experience. Reasonable priced and quick service. My pups had just spent a couple hours running through a muddy dog park. I called and was able to bring them in straight away. The shop is perfectly located in Allentown. I was able to grab a bite while she took on my muddy pups. I couldn't believe the transformation. Their coats were so soft. Nails trimmed perfectly. They even came out with cute little bandanas. I will definitely be returning. read more

While the owner of this place is a very nice woman, it's still kind of a chop shop. My dog is terrified of going here. I've had to go here from time to time, and everytime the cut is uneven. They never clip her nails. She has been nicked by the clippers. And I've seen employees step on dogs like it was nothing. They also keep large and small dogs together in the same area. You would be better off spending an extra ten dollars and going somewhere else. I have talked to a few people that swear by this place. I have not had good experiences though. read more

I took my 7lb dog for a trim and they told me to leave her the whole day! So expensive and overpriced. You cant schedule your day when they cant give you a estimated time for appt. Penny has been around forever..I would think the place would be alittle nicer. read more

I have been going to paw prints for a few years now. Never really had a problem with them except the past few times I have taken my dog there to get groomed. I usually take my dog in once every 4-6 months for a good shave down as he has long fur, its never matted or out of control but it can be work. The grooming has been very inconsistent, sometimes it looks great and other times he has been all chopped up, shaved down to the skin and patchy. I have groomed my dog myself so I know he is very easy to deal with and they tell me what a good dog he is while being groomed every time, so I know the bad job is not a result from him moving around since he normally just falls asleep while being shaved. The last time going here they were so overbooked it was like dealing with a busy doctors office waiting around the entire day. I dropped him off at 9 am, they usually tell me to call around 2 or 3 to see if he's done yet. I called, they tell me they still need more time and he can be picked up at 4:30...I go and pick him up then and they still needed another hour! That was an entire day of waiting around for them to get done, it shouldn't take literally an entire work shift to do the grooming! This last time, I dropped him off at 10 am, the woman told me to call at 2 to see where they are at. I said OK take your time since i scheduled an appt at 1 pm seeing as though they have him there the entire day. I thought the woman was being nice by then saying "oh do you just want to call us when you are done with your appt?" I said If that works better for you then that is fine. She said sure and then took my dog back...not one word about anything else other than that. At 3:30 I called to check on him and she said he was fine, and I told her that I was running behind and asked if it was ok to leave him there for a little while longer, she said of course that is not an issue. Again nothing more or further was said...nothing about any additional charges. I had my sister pick him up so he wasn't there any longer, when I get home I see they charge me $68 when the normal charge which includes additional fees for having thick fur is $53. I called twice and they didn't call me back for a couple days. The woman was very condescending when she spoke to me and told me when the dog is not picked up within an hour of being done there is a daycare charge of $15...this was NEVER stated at any point. I would understand that if I was told that prior or when I dropped him off maybe? When I was told to call them when my appt was done I think if she wasn't trying to scam me she should have said hey there are daycare services if you will be leaving him here longer (even though they typically take the entire day every other time, and I'm sure he was just left in a crate by himself waiting which isn't exactly daycare services in my eyes) She even could have said when cashing out, oh we charged you extra for daycare services. Nope, nothing at any point. $68 is outrageous for grooming for a 25 lb dog! She begrudgingly ended up saying they can waive it for me this time so hopefully Ill see that credit back. Not to mention this has been by far the worst grooming job he has ever gotten. it doesn't even look like he was shaved in some areas and others it was all patchy again, I could have done a better job myself. I will no longer be going back to this place which is unfortunate since it is so close and they used to do a good job back in the day. read more
