She really must have a way with animals because I have done everything I can to manage this cat's fur at home. I have paid extra at the vet to have them comb out her fur and none of it was making any difference. 2 hours at barks and meows and my cat was returned to be with out any matted fur or greasy mess in her fur. This is a locally owned pet boutique where you don't feel like a transaction--you feel like a regular, even if weeks go by between visits. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely attentive. There is one wonderful woman who helps me every single time I'm there (and Lord forgive me, I can never remember her name), but she consistently goes above and beyond--right down to carrying my haul out to the car for me. And trust me... it's a haul. I rarely leave with fewer than six containers of Dogs Eat Rite raw food, plus goat's milk, and usually a little Green Juju for good measure. Without her help, I'd be making multiple trips--and probably impressing my Health app with all the extra steps I am getting. They've special-ordered items for me before, listened carefully to what I'm looking for, and helped me choose what actually fits my dog's needs (which, let's be honest, are also my needs). The quality of products in this store is outstanding. And the treats--excuse me, cookies (as they are called in my house)--are next level. Chicken feet, duck hearts, and every imaginable dried organ, all enthusiastically approved and promptly inhaled by my very opinionated eater who is DEFINITELY a Good Girl. Alicia is completely incompetent at her job as a cat groomer. She advertises herself as being able…read moreto work with cats but she is scared of them. Her website lies about her skills. She says: "I know that cats can be "difficult" but I have a way of handling them that keeps them calm throughout the grooming process." In reality, she refuses to see cats who may be "difficult" because she is scared, unskilled, and unprofessional. She first saw my Persian cat a couple months ago, who was matted due to a skin condition. She was unable to do the job herself. She called me and my husband to help her, along with her manager. I contacted her for another appointment when my cat was in better shape (no matting), and, knowing my cat's temperament, she confirmed she would be able to see my cat again. She scheduled us on a Sunday for 1:30. She cancelled last minute and changed it to 3:00pm- extremely unprofessional. We arrived at 3:00pm, and without even looking at my cat, she began giving us a lecture about why she can't see him because he might be "bitey". Are you telling me you've never worked with a cat who is uncomfortable with grooming? She asked us to leave and have him drugged before coming in. I told her I had actually given him gabapentin before the appointment and she replied "I don't believe you". Is that any way to speak to your customers? And, why could she have not communicated this requirement to us before the appointment? Alicia is unable to work with cats and I will be escalating this situation further.
