I started going back to Fisher and Friends again recently. I…read moreused to take my pack of three there when Fisher the black Labrador used to be there to interview new dogs. It was a woman owned business back than and still is. Some things are still the same and somethings aren't. Fisher has crossed the "rainbow bridge" as they say and so have all three of my pack. The last one just last year. But I have another one who got caught in the covid isolation and lack of socialization and it was time to get her out to live her best life. Back in the day when you wanted to take your dog there you took them for an interview essentially. Fisher would spend time with your dog and they could judge your dogs temperament and see if your dog was going to get along with other dogs or had behavioral issues. They still do that and have even improved on the process by having an on line form that allows you to document all your dogs shots as well as any health issues or any issues they might need to know about your dog. When you schedule the interview, you go over the whole form as well as going over all the house rules. For example maintaining six foot distances from each parent coming or going from the lobby. Keeping your dog outside the door till a dog of a different size who may be in the lobby leaves to prevent any possible large dog small dog issues for example. Then they take your dog to see how their temperament is with other dogs. Just as they did before , they check to see if your dog is social or has some issues that may not make it possible for your dog go there. After that if your dog is accepted, you schedule your dogs days at Fisher. They also have an in house groomer so you can have your dog washed and groomed while it's there. The staff has always had a consistently friendly attitude and knows your dog by name and greets them enthusiastically and encouragingly. Which is very helpful for a shy dog to help them adjust. What I would love to see at Fisher to make them more current would be on line live video feed. It's always such fun to see your dog playing with their favorite dog friends or playing in the pool in the hot summer days.

The first issue was we had asked for a Teddy Bear cut, she did not give us the time of day from the start. She quickly rushed through and took our pup from us without asking questions or checking his coat. After I left I felt uneasy so i texted her and said we brushed him out before we brought him, however if he is too tangled please let us know and we will pick him up" - her response was "I already shaved him." We understand that it happens and dogs, especially with really loose curls are hard to comb out without causing the dog pain. However communication is the issue here, she should have called us and spoke to us to discuss the situation. Our pup is like our child, i'm sure all dog owners feel that way, you can't just make decisions without consulting us. We called to see if our pup was ready, the lady who answered told us "don't call anymore just text the groomer." We felt like all this place wanted to do was just get us in and out take our money, with NO COMMUNICATION or attention to our situation. You are a customer service place, if you wanted us to text the groomer, the groomer should have spent a few extra minutes explaining how this business runs when we came. After all that, I wasn't going to write a review. However yesterday I had to give my dog a bath - he doesn't love baths but he is not difficult or scared. He was absolutely TERRIFIED, he went to the back of the tub, shaking and crying. This has never happened before, and we get him groomed often at our normal groomers. When we picked him up they told us "he is such a good dog, so well behaved." But we are so concerned now with what goes on in the back after my dog reacted like that. To the business - your staff is seriously lacking in the communication department to the customer, as well as being empathetic. You're a customer facing business, that deals with our family pets. Before your groomers just run back with our dogs, you should have them spend 5/10 mins examining the dog, especially if they have a coat like our Goldendoodle. It is so upsetting to hear news through a text, or people tell you to not call anymore only text. We are leaving our pup in your hands for hours and hope that they are treated the same way we treat them at home.
