The doctors and staff were incredibly kind, compassionate, and understanding throughout the entire process. They clearly explained the situation and the recommended surgery, but it was unfortunately far outside of what we could afford. When we asked if there were any other options, even if they carried more risk, they took the time to listen and worked with us. They agreed to carefully cut the string under his tongue and allow the remaining piece to hopefully pass on its own. They were honest about the risks, but they respected our situation and helped us pursue the option that gave him a chance while still being financially possible for us. They also gave him anti-nausea medication, fluids, and pain management to support his recovery, and made sure we understood exactly what to watch for at home. I'm so grateful for how kind, nonjudgmental, and caring everyone was during such an emotional and stressful time. His tox levels were good but very high white blood cells which indicated infection, and a slightly distended stomach. Dr Udy (sp?) suspected he ate something bad so she recommended antibiotics, probiotics and fluids, and he hung out there a few hours for observation. I picked him up later, and she came out to talk to me. She, and the whole staff could not have been nicer. She also spent quite a bit of time removing the CRUST from his nose. I didn't know it could even come off, and it was looking terrible. Now it looks "brand new" I appreciated that so much, you have no idea. Now, of I wish the bill could have been cheaper. I declined treatment for my animal due to the outrageous cost. Then I called north Spokane veterinary clinic. I told them my dog's symptoms and what the other vet was trying to charge me. They told me there was some other tests and steps to take before we jumped right into putting my dog under and checking him out which was the intention of the other veterinary clinic. They got my dog in immediately at north Spokane veterinary clinic. They did the other tests. They discovered what was wrong with out the expensive coat of putting him under. Here I felt like they cared about me, my dog and not charging me a fortune to help my animal. I recommend this veterinary clinic very highly ! Because I was working on the day of the appointment, my boyfriend dropped off my miniature poodle. He relayed my haircut instructions and showed the groomer a text I had written with additional details so there would be no confusion. I specifically requested that his paw pads be shaved. When my boyfriend picked him up and sent me a picture, his haircut looked cute, but his paw pads appeared completely untouched. I called to request a refund because I paid for a service that, from what I could see, had not been completed. The manager told me she had personally groomed my dog, insisted she had done his paws, and refused a refund. She offered to have me bring him back, but her rude, dismissive attitude made me unwilling to return. The most frustrating part was her attempt to blame my boyfriend. She told me she does not like female clients sending their husbands or boyfriends to drop off their dogs because, according to her, men never know how to describe anything. She said this happens all the time and claimed it was completely my boyfriend's fault. He literally showed her MY WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS, and she acknowledged reading them to me. She also claimed she followed the text. How can she acknowledge seeing exactly what I requested and then blame my boyfriend for failing to describe it? Her generalizations about her clients were insulting, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. I politely told her I would not be returning. When I asked to speak with the owner, she declined and told me she had flagged my account. Being treated this way for questioning whether a service was completed is beyond frustrating. I paid for full-service grooming and expected the requested work to be completed. I also expected a manager to address my concern respectfully. Instead, I got excuses, blame directed at my boyfriend, and an attitude that cost this business a customer of nearly two years. Absolutely unacceptable. Save your money and take your dog somewhere that respects its customers and takes responsibility when concerns are raised.
