They don't pay attention to the dogs well-being nearly enough, for example we have been leaving our puppy there and have told them that he is having diarrhea but every time we pick him up and ask if his poop was normal they says, "oh yeah, everything was fine" or "I don't know, I didn't work with him" and then when he gets home he continues to have diarrhea. They don't interact with their clients at all, at the end of the day they are just telling you what you need to hear to leave them alone. The only positive thing I can say is that our puppy comes home looking happy and he is tired from playing. Edit: 3 days after posting this review, instead of reaching out to me they called and tried to bully my fiancee into changing it deleting this review. Rather than addressing the issues she just denied any problems and ended up just making my fiancee upset.

Personal Experience with Pet Pals…read more A few years ago, I was walking some dogs at the Fells near the Winford Way entrance in Medford. While we were there, Dave -- the owner of Pet Pals -- approached me. He seemed upset that I was walking in that area, saying I "didn't understand" the rules and that it was his designated spot to walk dogs, implying that no one else was allowed there. I reminded him that it's public land and open to everyone. At that point, he became physically aggressive and pushed me twice -- the second time hard enough that I lost control of my dogs' leashes. He then ran toward my dogs and appeared to try to scatter them, so they'd run off. I called the police, who arrived, spoke with both of us, and said something along the lines of, "There are three sides to every story." I decided not to pursue it further at the time and just moved on. I recently came across Pet Pals again, and I felt people should have the full picture before deciding whether to use this company. This is my personal experience, shared in good faith so others can make their own decisions. Hopefully, others have had better luck with Dave, the owner of Pet Pals -- formerly based in Winchester and now operating out of Woburn, as far as I know.

Previous to then, we had always used kennels when traveling. At that time, our two dogs were young and healthy and emotionally balanced. We still weren't happy about boarding them, but we felt it was a safe option for them. We had had horrible experiences with different kennels -- including one that was located inside an animal hospital -- and we swore we would never board our pets again. We didn't know who we could trust to take care of our high maintenance dogs and to go in and out of our home several times a day. Who would do all of the things our aging pets needed, such as give them medicine, feed them their special diet, keep an eye on their health and so on. (One of our dogs was diagnosed with a slow growing cancer last September and the other is a dachshund that suffers from separation anxiety.) Well, we can't recommend Wendi, Michele and Naomi enough! In fact, all of the pet sitters they have sent us over the last three years have been so loving and caring. These sitters really love animals and you can tell from the notes they leave for us that they truly enjoy their work caring for the pets. ABW pet sitting is like finding a terrific babysitter where your comfort level is as high as it can go! I would trust them with anything!! We go away without fear now and when we return, our pets are exactly as they were when we left... they aren't anxious or upset in any way and they look great! ** During this most recent trip our lock wasn't working properly on the front door. I had a death in the family and needed to (last minute) reschedule the initial consult for cat care - Daria was flexible and understanding. We then adopted a dog and setup to meet for both a cat care and dog walking consult. Daria is very friendly, asks great questions, and is easy to talk to. She also calmly went through our entire consult while my dog was howling at her. Our dog got into some raisins and Daria was very understanding about needing to cancel dog walking (our girl ended up having to stay in the hospital). She even texted me outside of the StrutnPup app to ask how our girl was. StrutnPup uses an app which makes scheduling and communicating easy. Daria always sends a photo and update on the walks she does with our dog. Communication is great with StrutnPup: Daria started out being our dog's walker for the first couple of months. She was very forthcoming about training one of her walkers to take over and is doing a few walks where the walker shadows her before letting him takeover.
