2FL Windows & Siding

2FL Windows & Siding

Before deciding on a company to re-do the siding on my house, I checked 3 companies. 2FL's was in…read morethe middle, but one of the things that sold me was the company being local and not using outside contractors. The reviews here are all over the map, though, so that caused some concern. The job started mid May, but wasn't finished until mid June. I have a small house; the supervisor assured me that the whole job would be done in 2 weeks, max - gutters and all. But one of the workers was sick for several days so only one person was working on the house most of the time. Toward the end of the project, the electricity on one side of the house was out when I came home. That wasn't good. Flipping the breakers didn't fix it - the workman did correct the error the next day. I had the gutters replaced by the same company. It turns out those jobs are contracted out. It was almost two weeks after the siding was completed before I was even contacted by this contractor (I had made 3 calls to 2FL reps). In the meantime, it rained. No gutters meant mud splashed on the new siding. Small things weren't finished, like replacing the house numbers (I left them out and we were clear that they needed to go up) or the front porch sill guard. I'll need to do those things myself, I guess. There was a little debris left, but nothing major. Mainly, the folks I dealt with were professional. I did have questions about the bill, but that was resolved quickly. I would recommend this company. Four stars because the work dragged out longer than I had been told to expect.

I told him you made the appointment I agreed as far as I am concerned it was set. I did that when I set the appointment up 2 days prior. I called Joe he said he would be out in a couple of hours. 3pm I called and he asked if I could send him photos, which I did and yet no response. Now whose waste of time was it? Mine on all accounts. I do not recommend them.

Lifetime Exterior Solutns - Old Siding (before)

They gave me a good bid for fiber cement board siding. I will admit some problems were due to my communication errors; and another challenge was I was not in the state when the project was going on unfortunately. So I appreciate their efforts to accommodate me when I requested pictures of the project progress. one error I made was a wrong paint color and I appreciate that they did not charge me extra for correcting my error. There were however, problems with returning my exterior fixtures back to the locations that they were before the project began (flag mount hose mounts, solar lights, circuit breaker box ground wire covers) I think my feedback for them for their future work, would be to take video or pictures pre and post and compare to make sure everything is cleaned up and returned as expected (so The customer doesn't have to bring it up to them).

It was a traumatic experience. There was no direction from the foreman/manager. My requests were not fulfilled. I explained about the areas that I wanted not to be done, as I had planned to later put stained wood siding on those areas and come home to find them Hardi Planked. They stepped on and broke my bushes which are permanently damaged. They broke my kitchen garden window and said it "it looked like it was broken on the inside" inferring that I had broken it. They had garbage thrown all over my yard the entire time and my front covered porch looked like a homeless camp with food left there and thrown on the door leaving grease stains . They also left a microwave there for months to heat their food. Not an experience I would want to relive. Ugh.

Pricing was very competitive. Alex and his crew did a fantastic job installing my deck stairs and porch, they are beautifully done and very sturdy. Far better than what we had before. They were there within 2 days of hire and completed the work within 2 days. We told them not to paint but Alex threw in paint for just the cost of materials, which was nice. Although, I wish I had some say on the color since they didn't ask beforehand and I would have loved a natural stain instead. The crew was very kind, they'd even bring my packages into the garage for me and make sure to close the garage door when they were done. The work is sturdy, done right, and I feel confident will last. My only point of advice is to just be more mindful of the garden. I had just purchased and planted 6 new plants and had a succulent ground cover I had been working to grow out for years. It was all so trampled I thought maybe they had dug it out at first. It would have been nice to get warning so I could dig it up myself (since it was fresh planted) or for them to step around it. Overall, I'd definitely hire GAB again (and likely will to finish our deck soon) and will reccomend them to friends and family. They're responsive, quick, easy to communicate with, the work looks beautiful and done right, and the value for the price is terrific.

I thought the estimate was fair and appropriate for the cost of the materials, the demo, and the labor. A lot of the other contractors were giving me ridiculously low bids, which I knew were shady and they hadn't measured the area. They came within a few days in same day. I had a new, completely rebuilt dock, which is fabulous. They kept the area clean while they were working, and I barely knew they were there, totally respectful. I am so happy to have my dock back so that I can play on the lake.

I am a long-time DIYer that rarely pays for something I can do myself. My interests run from…read moreengine repair to carpentry and while I am not an expert at everything I do, I generally do an excellent job. I recently had knee surgery and cannot climb ladders until my knee recovers. As life sometimes goes (luck/karma/divine intervention...), my home developed a water leak up towards the second story where the chimney and overhang meet. The roof has a 10/12 pitch and the last roofer did not put in the proper flashing to keep the water properly diverted (I knew I should have roofed it myself, lol). The previous storm brought lots of water into the area and the water leak developed into a major leak that entered my home between the sub-flooring and hardwood. The floor damage was sudden and quite extensive. I urgently needed immediate repairs to my roof and siding to stop the leak. I was unsure if I could get a solid professional to come to my aid and I needed someone I could trust and one that wouldn't take advantage of my dilemma. I also needed someone that would complete the type of work I demand-a tall order to say the least. That is where FB friends and Sound Siding enter into the picture. The first recommendation we received did not pan out. To be honest, it was weird. My original focus was on hiring a handyman as they are willing to do small jobs. I do not want to bash the individual but he seemed to typify what my worst fears are about contractors-flaky at best. Next, I remembered a previous acquaintance that owned a siding company that does residential and commercial work. I had a very high opinion of his honesty and work ethic. My only question was his availability and was the job too small. I gave the owner a call and explained my dilemma. He offered to meet me the next day. So far so good. Upon his arrival, we reviewed the situation and he offered to do the job-much to my relief. He had two individuals show up and start that very day. He was able to add another for the next two days and the job was rapidly completed. Their work was/is top-notch and I am in full agreement with what they needed to do to complete the job properly. Some carpentry dry-rot and roofing repairs, in addition to siding, needed to be completed. All done to my satisfaction, in record time and at a reasonable price. I could not have asked for better. His crews were very courteous and professional. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up the debris before they left. I would definitely hire them again.

They saved us money by being competitively priced and without cutting corners. Tony walked my husband and me through all that would need to be done to insure that our house would be safe from any further water damage. The previous owners had a deck installed without flashing and a dryer vent incorrectly installed costing us time and money. I'm telling my friends and family about this company. I have such peace of mind knowing that as we find more things wrong with our house, Tony and his crew will do it right the first time and only charge for what is done. I was really surprised that there were any negative reviews because that wasn't our experience at all. Maybe it was a different crew back then.
