My husband and I have been working with them since 2020. Our first project was our 480 sq ft casita in our new home. The casita had not been touched since the house was built in the late 80's and it was very outdated. The first two estimates I receives were in the high 40's and 50's to remodel the 480 sq ft. CCD's estimate was in the low 30's and they stayed in budget and only went over schedule a few days which was not their fault. Every tradesman we have to go into the casita has postive comments on the workmanship. Tom and his team created a beautiful space that we could have my mother use while she is here in WA helping take care of our daughter. We have since used them in other projects in our main house: - adding a closet system for our daughter's room - adding a window to our basement guest room - closet system for the owner's suite - creating additional storage in our daughter's room - adding safety rails in our home - creating a statement wall in the owner's suite - making custom window treatments for the owner's suite - removing old built in from the house that were installed when the house was built in 88 - creating storage, statement wall and a custom desk for my office. My husband and I highly recommend Tom Lyman, Charlie Brown & the CCD team. They do amazing work!

I contracted Considerate Contracting to repair our bathroom after water damage, and they exceeded…read moreour expectations! Other companies we had before would cut corners, but Considerate took the time to make sure we were happy with the end result. For example, after having some molding installed we realized it wasn't the look we wanted. While some contractors might have been frustrated, instead Considerate promptly replaced it with one more to our taste, free of charge! I've never seen a company striving so much to make their customers happy. The owner assured me that their motto is to not leave a job until the customer gives the go ahead, and in my case they clearly lived up to that work ethic. We love our new bathroom; thank you Considerate!!

However, he said that I didn't need a building…read morepermit and now a friend told me that I likely did need one and I don't know what to do. But even if I didn't need one, a good friend of mine had Ommy build a retaining wall for her and told her that she didn't need a permit. Well, she did, and Ommy didn't help her. It all fell on her shoulders to have the wall he installed removed, get the permits (which required engineering work), and have it installed again. It was extremely stressful and costly for her. The thing is that Ommy is a very nice and creative person. But I have a bad taste in my mouth because of my friend's experience and now because I don't know if my lack of having a building permit will haunt me. The fear, uncertainty, and doubt already is. Following up to Danielle's comment... Danielle, Two things: 1) I was never aware that my water feature isn't "permanent", and that therefore, a permit wasn't required. Ommy told me verbally that a permit wasn't needed and I trusted him. Yes, I am responsible for the electrical. 2) About my friend's honesty: She is part of a very tight cohort of friends including me. I have known her well for almost ten years, and we heard the entire story (from her perspective, it's true) for the last year. I believe her. My suggestion to you is that in the future you explicitly state in your contract whether a building permit is necessary or not, and have the owner initial the clause. Avoid "he said, she said" arguments. That's what good contracts are for.

We right away had a problem with the blue stone pavers as Zenji sealed the pavers with a product that failed turning white. I personally figured out how to remove the failed sealer but Zenji refused to warrantee the finish claiming we had altered the install. The lawn that was installed was dead within a month due to poor drainage. Zenji claimed we were responsible for drainage although we were never asked to provide drainage. Zenji is terrible to work with on warrantee items and takes an adversarial stance when asked to take care of problems. Do not work with this company.

Kay did a renovation of our kitchen, office area, and butlers pantry after water damage had ruined much of our old kitchen. From start to finish Kay is far and away the best contractor I've worked with. He's always on time, reasonably promises but over delivers on quality and value, and quick to text/call back. He always had great suggestions and guidance throughout the process and the results show. I've already asked him to do more work, and recommend him to every friend who says they're doing anything on their house.

From the initial estimate to the project completion, Kay was always on time, and always went above and beyond to answer my questions, talk over options, and provide recommendations. I am beyond satisfied with the quality of the work. Kay paid incredible attention to details and made sure I was satisfied with every step as he checked in frequently throughout the job. There were no surprise extra charges and he finished on budget and within the promised timeframe, even though I had him do a completely unrelated garage window replacement in the middle of the job! I wouldn't hesitate to hire Kay again for any job big or small, and I will be recommending him to anyone who is looking to do a home project.
