Leland told me to buy U-haul boxes as those hold up better. I bought lots of small boxes so I could move some of them to the storage locker before move day. I then lived in AirBnBs for a short time until I bought my next place. Then I hired Leland and team again. Because I packed up in small boxes, I was able to move some boxes myself and unpack before the big official move in date. That did reduce my cost on move #2. Nothing was damaged. I hope I don't have to move anytime soon. But I would hire Washington Movers again.

I have also used them for my personal moves and can't speak more highly of them! Offering both packing and moving has been a great stress reliever as I always feel worried about more fragile items. Never had a fragile piece, large or small, damaged or destroyed l even in locations where they sometimes had stairs or uneven walking paths. Leland, Joshua, and Nick are delights to work with and a great and fun team. As others mentioned they offer a discount for cash payment, and I was quited $145 an hour for 2 movers for the 2.5 hour minimum for my job. They were very flexible on timing compared with other companies. On the day of the move I let them know I was ready earlier than booked and they accommodated. They also came with 4 movers instead of 2 at no additional fee and got the whole job done in 45 minutes. The team were four friendly young men and they were super easy to work with, respectful, and careful with my things. They were willing, when I asked, to also remove some large garbage items for an extra fee. Overall: super communicative booking, flexible scheduling, competetive prices and a job well done! They called within the window, showed up on time and with the exception of smelling like sweat they were quite professional. The smell I can discount as they were very polite and summer is peak moving season. Our walnut furniture had to be moved around complicated stairs and they were quite helpful. During the move to a new house we found people online who were selling furniture that we wanted. We coordinated with the movers and they made two additional stops during the day and both of the homeowners commented about how quick and knowledgeable the movers were. We started around 4 PM having them move and I think we finished around 11:30 that night. Aside from the amount of time that it took to move which you don't realize how much stuff you accumulate we got them pizza because they were just so tired and we are happy to have them help. Again aside from a few small scratches on a piece of the woodwork that we have which I can buff out with some 300 grit sandpaper. They were able to move everything we needed, including some very heavy items (ie. a piano) down a flight of stairs to the moving truck with no problem. They were clean, courteous, efficient, and prompt. They took care of our items and wrapped each piece of furniture securely. Satch is the most efficient truck packer (Tetris Master!) I've ever seen! They were also very flexible with our schedule when our plans were thrown off by the missed delivery of our "moving pods." We ended up changing plans and needing to get moving trucks instead. Satch was a great communicator and kindly rearranged his schedule to accommodate our changing needs. I can't say enough how helpful that was. They provided a quote via yelp, remembered that I submitted a quote when I called them directly, helped me learn how to go see the quote within yelp, answered all my questions and reassured me of all the concerns I had due to past nightmare moves (mover not showing up on moving day w barely no notice in the day of the move, mover who comes and then leaves bec their truck would block the road without telling me ahead that I needed to get city permit to block the parking in front of apt for their truck, mover who began changing the agreed terms upon arrival and then extorting me for thr full payment in cash during the middle of the move with half of my stuff still in the truck and threatening to take my stuff somewhere and throw them away). Satch listened patiently of the past issues and concerns and asked how he can assure me. He came in person to see what needed to get moved and the photo of all the stuff in storage. When I insisted that I needed a 26' truck since that is what I had in the most recent move, he reassured me that his 20' truck would sufficiently fit everything based on his experience and even offered that he will make the additional necessary trips to move everything free if everything didn't fits into the truck during 1 trip. On the day, when he had issue w his truck, he rented a 16' truck and let me know ahead that he will make this move happen using this truck and make the additional trip for free if needed since this is what we agreed. He also said it is fine to allow my friends to help move (just not get into the moving truck). He wrote up all the terms that we discussed including allowing friends to help and no additional cost for additional trip. On the day, he arrived on time and nicely offered suggestions on how my friends can help more efficiently, which I took his suggestions. We got the move done within the lower estimated time he quoted me with my friends helping. I love that they used venmo and I didn't have to carry around cash. The move went smoothly and my friends all commented about how nice, patient, and amazing he was during their interactions working on the move w him and his staff. We were also amazed how tightly he packed in the truck. Wow!!! We still had room left! So impressed and I am definitely going to use them again in the future! They made a stressful day less stressful and a success. Oh, we had a 2nd stop at storage before going to destination and that was all in the estimate and that went well too! They definitely was much more expensive than prices on Craigslist and most of the other quotes I received from using the yelp moving quotes feature. However at the end, it was worth it since duration to get the move done was so important for me without drama. At least it wasn't as expensive as the big fancy moving companies you see with their own website advertising inter-state and intra-state moves.
