Up to you to decide, I have a residence that is 1500sq ft.and has a flat roof, I had the same company do my roof 151/2 years ago. I dealt with Paul during that roofing job, The job then only required a removal of ... foam and elastomeric coating, a job that .onlyrics took. One day to complete, so I it was a natural choice to call Paul's again for this job As I had a great experience and the roof ad lasted for 15 years, that's a lot of summers and monsoon seasons
I had only recently been made aware that the roof would need repair, after I had a new heating and cooling unit installed.. The AC/Heat unit install required the removal of a swamp cooler that had seen better days, which I of course left a sizeable area of roof exposed to the elements. Calls began being made to a few local roofers for some estimates for comparison. After about a week and a half I called and spoke with Jeff asking where his estimate was for the cost of the cost of the job. I was he sent it via email, it must have got lost in the ether.. The estinate was sent soin there after. In the end the eststimates were very close and the decision was made to return to the original roofer whom worked on the roof 15 years prior.
About 2 weeks later Jeff , a son in law of Paul's, and the crew arrived at 0845, on Friday morning to begin the tear down and rebuild.. As I work from home there was no where I could go as I neded to be home to haee e access to my computer and my phone(land line for business purposes. So for all of Friday and all of Saturday I listened as the roofers tore apart the entire roof. There were times I expected to see a tool or a body cone falling through the ceiling.. Yes, it was that loud. At times I thought I was going stir crazy from the continous hammering and pulling up of the old sheets of plywood. Now I understand it's a roofing job and I have a flat roof, so the roofers were always about 12- 16 inches away. I expected a certain amount or racquet to be made during the restoration. Keep in mind this was ongoing for 20 hours. Yes there was a 13 hour break as Friday turned into Saturday. Sunday, total relief as
the roofers had the day off. Monday began with the same level of noise that I had enjoyed Friday and Saturday. Just as an example of how loud and forcful. the noise and vibrations were, pieces of ceiling began to fall down and dishes, glasses and medicine cabinet items had shifted during the 3 and 3/4 days if work,
So on Monday after 6 hours of uninterrupted roof beating I gave Jeff a call and inquired as to how much longer this was going to take. I initially thought I was told it would take about 3 1/2 days to complete. I must have dreamt that because during my conversation with Jeff I mentioned that the job would be completed by mid to late Monday afternoon. Well, I was clearly mistaken as I was told by Jeff that he had never said that. Ok, maybe I had just wished that to be the case after the abuse my roof seemed to be taking during the last 26 hours or work. I explained half heartedly that I was going crazy down in the house from the continuous banging. I was then told by Jeff, " THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO BE THERE"! Just like that, I didn't have to be there.! After letting that soak in, I informed Jeff that it was my residence as well as my place of employment. To which not a response was uttered.
Jeff'S eloquent customer service response left a bad taste in my mouth. To which there was no other contact bwtween myself and Jeff. Yes, I guess I dudn't have to be there, but then again I am trying to make a living in during these difficult economic times and having to shell out a few thousand for a new AC/HEATD UNIT and now a few more thousand for a new roof, I did kind of have to be there.
All that bring said and done the roofers not the foreman did a good job. The roof looks good and has not leaked during the last few torrential rain storms. On a side note, the new ac/unit didn't work after they left. Fortunately the company that installed the unit came the next day to diagnose the problem.. Turned out a wire was knicked during the tear down or install of the roof. No charge for the repair. That's my story. Hope you were entertained. read more
