Work was done efficiently. Costed $650 for 20 minutes work and $75 in parts ( I looked it up ). This included the time to look at the job , quote it , do the work and pack the truck. It worked out to $800 an hour labor which was really a DIY job if you had the tools ( I didn't ) You get charged $99 for the quote if you don't have them do the work. The technician presented me with estimates totaling nearly $1,800 for "Peace of Mind" replacements that were completely unnecessary. The Main Issue: Misleading Code Requirements Most concerning was the technician's attempt to charge me $639 to replace my existing flexible gas lines with hard piping. He claimed that "gas code requires" refitting the water heater to 1/2" iron piping and that my current setup could cause pressure issues if other appliances were running. This is factually incorrect. My family had this company address an issue with a "warranty" part that Paul the Plumber originally installed. After the technician left I found on closer inspection that the replacement part installed was already in a damaged state. While the tech was performing the work I had stayed within 10-15 feet of him so I know that the part wasn't damaged at the work site. One can only conclude that either the part had been previously used or worse yet, the technician intentionally installed a part with obvious damage to it. I contacted the main office to address my complaint/concern but didn't receive a response back regarding the matter. The State of New Hampshire has a Consumer Protection & Antitrust Bureau which is within the NH Attorney General's Office. It handles complaints, investigates scams, and enforces laws against unfair practices. I woke up Tuesday morning to a hole in my expansion tank spraying water all over my basement. I called Paul the Plumber that afternoon in a panic. They scheduled someone to come over that afternoon. It was determined a new one needed to be installed. They scheduled someone for Wednesday. Two very friendly technicians came out to replace and service my tank. Unfortunately, the pilot light went out so my tank wasn't warming up I called the office and they scheduled someone to come out that evening. Kinda bozos here - put a temperature limiting valve between the new hot water heater and the new furnace and now hot water is lucky to reach 100 degrees in upstairs shower at the max of the mixing valve they put in. Didn't bother to test heat at any faucets and didn't bother to calculate the expected heat loss as the hot water traveled from the hot water heater to the upstairs. Over $14,000 for this ridiculous install and they pretty much don't give an F. And they left old stuff all over the lawn and provided no invoices or documentation as to the work they had done. Total cost was $1,344.00! When I called the Derry store manager, Susie , she couldn't have cared less. Looking up prices for parts, about $98.00 for high-end, and giving $200/hour wages, high-end, this should've cost her less than $500.00 outside of taxes. Asking for a simple answer on how this could have been billed as it was, no response outside that's what we charge. The wuss didn't want to get insulation on himself so cried to his boss (who in reviews by others as you can see has been called a crook!). PtP preys on new home owners. They charged us $1,800 for 1 hour of labor to replace an expansion tank and back flow prevention valve, under $200 in parts. More recently, they told us we needed a new boiler stating that the Carbon Monoxide levels were too high. The salesman arrived 2 hours later to sell us on mini-splits and a high efficiency boiler even tho I was clear that I either wanted to fix the existing boiler, or replace it with a standard efficiency boiler. The very next day (today) I had a second opinion from another plumber who fixed the existing issue at a nominal cost, and altered the exhaust to allow for proper flow. If I could give less than one star, I would. We had them come out to fix my grandmother's toilet. First, they inaccurately diagnosed the problem. Immediately suggesting a replacement price for the handle at over $900. After questioning that, they quoted a price of 700+ dollars. Next, they suggested buying an entirely new toilet for over $1300. They charged over $200 for a visit that took one minute and replaced the handle with a product that can be purchased at Walmart for under $10. The problem had not been resolved. After contacting the local plumber, the problem turned out to be a simple ring, which was replaced at a significantly lower price. We will NEVER use this service ever again. I don't blame the plumber that showed up for our stove install. however, I asked for a price quote when I made our appointment and was told that they would quote me when they came, I figured about $500 to install the lp conversion kit, which I provided, and replace a gas line and they suggested replacement of the hard pipe going under my mobile home, abou 2 ft of pipe. this took about 2.5 hours to complete. the guys did a good job but this cost $982. it was $1057 but I had the plumber call and try to get a discount and he was able to take $75 off. so they won't give you an hourly rate or rough estimate of what it will cost over the phone and gouge you when they get there. suffice to say, pro will not be doi any more work at my home. read more

DO NOT USE. Looking to take advantage of others situations to make money. Disappointed to say the least... on July 18, 2024 I went down in my basement to find my hot water heater beginning to flood the basement. I was able to shut off the water and stop any further leaking. Paul the plumber was recommended on Facebook and was our first call. They arrived that afternoon and were very polite to deal with (Technician: Tom M and Vincent P) there was discussion about the age of my unit since it looked relatively new and the copper piping to it had very little to no oxidation. The technicians Tom and Vincent were over heard discussing whether or not the unit was still under warranty. Tom and Vincent explained the unit was likely a 2009 or 1999 based on the last digits of the serial number outside the 6 year warranty period for the unit. Tom and Vincent charged $99 for their visit and provided me a quote for $5,464 to replace the unit with the same one and a 6 year manufacturer warranty. I paid the $99 fee and began doing my research into how old the unit was. By going to the manufactures website i ran the serial number of the unit and came up with the date of manufacture July 2019(5 years old) the unit still had 1 more year of warranty and the technicians failed to acknowledge this warranty witch would cover subsequent home owners(like my self) Without making this story too much longer, we did not end up using paul the plumber and got our unit replaced by warranty and installed by a local plumber for $800 labor. read more

He was here for 1 hour and refilled my AC with 3# of freon and said this should last a while but if not we can do a leak test using the nitrogen method which I got a quote on. It ran out within a month... The refill of 3# of freon and 1 hour of labor cost me $868 dollars and that was with a $50 "coupon" discount. This included the $99 service fee just to come out. I called around after this and found out I got ripped off! All the other reputable company's I called we dam near half the cost for the same thing. but wait there's more... The estimate to do a leak test was the cherry on top. The estimate for the test was $2158 holy crook batman what a scam! I called around because this seemed like highway robbery and I was right. Other reputable company's with far better reviews were between $400-$500 to do a nitro test and even less for the dye test. My regular plumber (named Phil) is semi-retired and wasn't around to do the annual inspection of my gas boiler and radiators, so I wound up hiring Paul the Plumber because of good reviews on Google. The inspection itself cost me about $160, which seemed reasonable. But I was told 12 radiators in my house needed new vents. Not knowing any better, I agreed to that. A week later, the same technician who looked at the boiler came back and installed new vents, then spent time "balancing" the heat in my home (two story; one zone). The cost was $1,000, which hadn't been revealed to me until after the job was done. I was in shock, but paid it. A week later, three radiators stopped working after the one in my upstairs bath built up too much pressure and (in my words) "had a melt down". The radiator in the bath, and two radiators in the master bedroom, stopped working. I called the company, and the same technician came back and told me he'd put the wrong vents on those three radiators. He also said he'd get it fixed at no charge to me because it happened within their warranty time-frame. A week later, a different guy came and replaced the three vents. He told me the radiators were now working, and if they stopped working again, I'd need to have a pipe replaced and it would be costly. Within a month, the three radiators stopped working again. I called the company and told them I wanted my money back. I was told they'd refund me for the vents that didn't work and for the $200 I'd paid for the warranty (I had no idea I'd paid for a warranty). I wrote to the president (a guy named Paul). My letter described what had happened and that I either wanted the radiators fixed properly so they were working, or I wanted a refund of $1,000. A week or so later, I got a call from Paul's company and was told they were sending a Service Manager to have a look. The Service Manager told me the three radiators had the wrong vents on them, and that it would be easy to put the right ones on, but he'd have to come back for that. He returned a few days later and replaced the three vents. After he left, I turned the heat up and waited to see if the radiators were now working, and they weren't. I then called the company and asked to speak with a senior manager. I was told that would be "Susie". I asked what her job was and I don't recall the answer, except she was (perhaps) Paul's assistant ... and she was in a meeting so I'd have to leave a message. I then asked if I could speak with Paul. When I was told me he wasn't in the office, I asked if he's ever in the office, and she said no, he's not. So I told her to let Susie know we could resolve the issue by them refunding me the $1,000, or we'd resolve it in court. The next day I got a message from Susie: "We're going to refund you $1,000". And within the week, they sent me their check. I called Phil (my semi-retired plumber), who came to look at the radiators after he returned from wintering down south. He looked at the three that weren't working and told me they'd put on vents that were for high-pressure commercial systems, and that residential radiators don't build up enough pressure to be able to use the last vents that were installed by Paul's employees. Phil told me it was clear they didn't know what they were doing. He replaced the vents, and all my radiators are working now. Paul the Plumber's business set-up is to charge a set price for whatever they tell you is needed (I had also paid them $370 to clear a bathtub drain, which took about 30 minutes). Paul's not the guy who comes to your door and the guys who DO come to your door may or may not know what they're doing. Their prices are high and, in my case, I had to pay to have someone else fix what they messed up. It's a good thing they refunded me the $1,000. I was referred to PTP by long time friend who has been a client with PTP for decades an was very satisfied with service they provided for his primary and rental properties. The initial visiting Technician was very professional and explained problem an actions needed to correct etc. He cleaned his area upon completing repairs. He introduced the service contract for annual preventive maintenance on my boiler (Laars 101) system. My 1st scheduled preventive maintenance check was scheduled for Late 11/23. Tech arrived completed maintenance and stated all was well. I later in the evening upon returning from work noticed no hot water check boiler, found panels were left off and boiler was in alarm/fault. I replaced panels and reset boiler. Noticed that the interior of boiler was not vacuumed or cleaned this was a preventive maintenance call. The following days the boiler continued to have issues going off line (failed ignitor).. I called PTP and they sent another tech to assist on 12/08/23. This tech was very hesitant to perform any extensive Trouble shooting of the failures, He removed the Ignitor and notice that a broken screw that mounted the ignitor to the boiler. He applied a gasket sealant to create a seal on the missing/broken screw side of the ignitor mounting. However, in doing so he applied this gasket material on to the ignitor rod, wiped and re-installed. I question that move and stated that rod should be free of any grease or sealant matter. He made a few phone calls and then stated that PTP will no longer support this equipment and packed his gear and advised that a Project Manager will contact me regarding next steps. Okay, its early DECEMBER in New Hampshire, Lets get this problem resolved. He packed up and departed fast in which he came. My Boiler was left in LIMP mode requiring resets every couple of days. I was being patient awaiting a call from this Program Manager? 2 weeks, 3weeks. The HECK with this I contacted a Private Contractor referred from family members (Hvac/boiler MA Licensed tech). Contractor arrived evaluated and suggested replacement of boiler long story short. presented 3 options with plan of attack. He provided us with portable heating units for living spaces and then installed an electric water heater so we could shower and have Hot Water and HEAT during new install, Now that is customer service!! Take note (Paul The Plumber)! I have discontinued my maintenance contract with PTP, I only gave them a 1 star because this app required a rating, but They S*CK!!!!!! They said I only said there was a blockage when I had water in my vents. Then called to say after they shouldn't of been rude but they were not sending someone qualified to clean vents. Two nice gentlemen came out, Ryan and his apprentice Seth Am I sorry for this decision So, first of all there is a $99 fee to have them come out And then while here, they present you with an estimate of $452 to diagnose the problem Figuring what choice did I have I signed the agreement to go ahead I showed them where the leak was, and then they asked to see the circuit breaker. They watched as I flicked all of the breakers on and off They then went upstairs to look at the dishwasher They removed the front panel and the saw there was a bad seal I was then told it would be $518 to replace the water line At this point I said thank you and ad them leave They were here less than an hour of which may at best, a half hour was spent trying to diagnose the problem I contacted and requested an itemized bill which they said they do not do. They have set prices by jobs! In any cases $452 seems to be an excessive rate for what they did to diagnose the problem, and I still don't know if the valve needs to be replaced or not! They did say if I wanted to go ahead and replace the line it would only be an additional $66. Still , $518 to relace a line also seems excessive So a word to wise, make sure you ask specific questions regarding theirs costs before you have them come out A disappointed customer! read more

I had Paul the Plumber winterize my manufactured home. My previous plumber charged me $300 for this service. Paul the Plumber was $725 but I trusted his service . I'm a snowbird and live in Florida for the winter. A technician was at my home today to remove the antifreeze from the pipes. He called and told me all the faucets in my house were leaking. I didn't understand how that could happen. Everthing was fine when I left. He said it was because my faucets were old. So I said okay, replace them and asked for a price. I almost fell over! He was going to charge me $1,900 to replace 3 faucets . Aren't they about $100 at Home Depot?? I had to replace one which was streaming water. The others were only dripping. I wish I had read the reviews on Yelp before I had Paul the Plumber repair my toilets. I was charged $1342 for replacing the insides of two toilet tanks. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. I expect to pay for services but after calling two retired plumbers and showing them the invoice, I was informed that I was overcharged. I have asked for three times for an invoice that breaks down parts and labor. They refuse to send me one. The toilets are running when no one is using them so they are sending out a technician to see what the problem is. This company came to my house to repair a flapper. I was still having the same issue with my toilet running they came back to my house, the same day and "fixed it". Just over a year later my toilet again started running. After U tubing ;problems with why my flapper was broken it was noticed the two little prongs that hold the flapper on one of them was broken that's why the flapper would not stay on. Instead of repairing the prongs or the piece that has the prongs they put putty on an additional piece and mounted it to the bottom of my toilet . The putty obviously began leaking over time . Last week I had a couple of sinks that were backfilling while I was away on business. My wife sent me some pictures and I determined I needed to get someone in to snake the drains ASAP. They show up about a half hour later and determined that yes the 2 sinks need to be snaked and 1 trap needed replacement. They had my wife sign that she agreed and proceeded with the work. They told her it would be $807 and without knowing what was fair and being in the house with a stranger, she signed. They did the work, which took about an hour, and got everything working properly. I received the invoice for $807 and was taken back. How could 1 hour of work cost $800? A J trap is roughly a $20 part. I called to question this and they were unwilling to work with me on the price and said that "it is a domestic issue if your wife signed it". I think it is extremely unethical to charge someone almost a thousand dollars for an hours worth of work. I also think they took advantage of my situation being away and my wife being home alone. Lastly, I do not under any circumstances appreciate having someone tell me that my wife signing a slip for a price she had no idea was outrageous is a domestic issue. I am extremely disappointed and it is disheartening that there is companies out there that take advantage of people being in a jam. read more
