Paul The Plumber - This was from another LICENSED REPUTABLE company same problem 2 months ago. 2 hrs total and $540. I thought too much until Paul came around.

Work was done efficiently. Costed $650 for 20 minutes work and $75 in parts ( I looked it up )…read more This included the time to look at the job , quote it , do the work and pack the truck. It worked out to $800 an hour labor which was really a DIY job if you had the tools ( I didn't ) You get charged $99 for the quote if you don't have them do the work. I'm not sure if all plumbers have become this expensive but I'm sure willing to try someone else next time

Rating: 1/5 Stars Title: Aggressive Upselling and Misleading…read moreTechnical Advice - Beware I recently had a technician (Matt M) from Paul The Plumber come out for a simple warranty repair on my furnace's igniter. While the warranty repair itself was completed, the rest of the visit was a masterclass in aggressive and dishonest upselling. The technician presented me with estimates totaling nearly $1,800 for "Peace of Mind" replacements that were completely unnecessary. The Main Issue: Misleading Code Requirements Most concerning was the technician's attempt to charge me $639 to replace my existing flexible gas lines with hard piping. He claimed that "gas code requires" refitting the water heater to 1/2" iron piping and that my current setup could cause pressure issues if other appliances were running. This is factually incorrect. Standard flexible gas connectors are rated for significantly higher BTU loads than a residential water heater draws (often up to 180,000 BTU, while a tank heater pulls a fraction of that). Using code compliance as a scare tactic to sell a $600+ pipe refit is unethical. Unnecessary Upsells The upsells didn't stop there: Thermostat: Even though he tested my Google Nest thermostat and admitted it was working properly, he tried to sell me a $608 Ecobee thermostat replacement, claiming Nests have a "history of problems." There was no reason to replace a functioning smart thermostat. Expansion Tank: He also proposed a $550 expansion tank installation to "prevent the water heater from bursting," another high-priced add-on for a system that was functioning fine. If you call Paul The Plumber, be prepared to double-check everything they say. Turning a standard warranty visit into a $1,700 sales pitch based on bad technical information is not "Service with a Smile," it's taking advantage of the customer. Pros: The igniter (warranty work) was fixed. Cons: Dishonest claims about gas code requirements. Aggressive attempts to replace working equipment (Nest thermostat). Exorbitant pricing for simple upgrades.
