They had a person come over to look at the work I needed done and the next day they had "Tony and Santos" come over for the installation of a new electric water heater. They have great service plans for their customers, giving you the top products offered in the field for your piece of mind on longevity and durability. You know who you are dealing with when someone comes over to work in your house with company vehicles. Not someone in a beat up personal vehicle that looks like they are having issues. Dan and Sam have been stand-out with the depth of their answers to my questions. I appreciate that immensely as a demonstration of how much they care about the subject matter, and how much they care about ensuring I'm properly informed on what is happening. Sam and his crew were out all day yesterday dismantling the old boiler and installing the new one. They were friendly and engaged the whole time letting me observe the process. Sam called me over throughout to show me up close what had corroded in my old boiler, and to explain to me how it happened. He did the same during install of the new boiler to demonstrate all the critical aspects for maintenance--including letting me unscrew and rescrew a piece to practice for future cleaning. The new boiler is running smoothly right now. I feel like I understand its pieces. Sam even took an interest in diagnosing why my bathroom heating panel (which has never worked) wasn't heating. He cleaned out its vent and it has heat now. My cat is very happy to be warm right now. From the way Sam and his crew talked through all the aspects of the work they were doing, it was clear they take pride in the quality of the work. This wasn't just a job to get over and done with. And what's more, they did it for $2k cheaper than my competing quote. Max Heating and Cooling will be the first people I call for any plumbing projects I have going forward.

I recently decided to try replacing my very old sink disposal that was making a loud grinding noise. It was at least 30 years old so I wasn't surprised. The repair was surprisingly easy as I used the same brand to replace and the flange is the same after decades so I didn't need to do the hard work of interacting with the sink itself. When I pulled out the old unit, sure enough there was Ken's sticker on it from when he installed it for the prior owners of my home decades earlier! It was so old it didn't have an area code needed. Ken's team also told me about some repairs that could be safely deferred and done with the help of the local town when they did other repairs they are responsible for, which saved me about $1000. Tip: visit the Absolute website as there are usually coupons available to reduce the service charges.

The first one was a leaky radiator pipe in our bedroom which they were able to fix quickly and saved us from having a major problem if the leak continued and or if the pipe outright busted. The technician also noticed a problem with our water tank and gave us suggestions as to how to fix it. I gave him the green light and he was able to do everything in one day which saved time and rescheduling costs. This past week, I asked them to do what was supposedly a quick and easy faucet replacement in a bathroom sink but it turned out to be more complicated than expected. Bryan and very good in explaining everything and getting all the repairs done. So, after using them 3 times and been extremely satisfied with the results, I felt that I needed to upgrade the number of stars to reflect how much I appreciated their time, work, professionalism and helpfulness. Please keep this in mind and consider a second opinion if they give you a large quote. This is my story: My elderly mother contacted me in a panic after she had a technician named Ryder come to her house to check/clean her heating system. Somewhere in the process, he told her that her entire heating system needed to be replaced and would roughly cost her $15,000...AND he gave her a DEADLINE of 3pm that day to get back to him or that price would change. Please note that her heating system works and is not broken. I decided to contact Cranney's on my own and ask one simple question: "Do your technicians get a commission on their sales?" I was placed on hold so the operator could consult the manager. When she returned, I was told the manager was at lunch and would call me back. I then asked for an assistant manager or someone else that might have the answer. She then asked "What is this in regards to?" (I am not sure why she asked that again, as I only asked that one question). Sensing the defensiveness in her voice, I decided to tell her that I wanted my technician to receive a commission because "he did a wonderful job". She sounded relieved and more willing to seek out an answer. She put me on hold again. When she returned she told me that she could "not disclose that information"...this was enough for me. If a technician charges 15K for a job and gets 5% commission, that's a $750 addition to his paycheck. Please keep in mind I never got an official answer, however if the answer was "no" then it would've been simple. Offering commission on services like this without guardrails, is a corrupt incentive for technicians with no integrity and an easy way to con old women into spending money they don't have on something they don't need. Not to mention the coercion technique used causing unnecessary panic by telling her that a decision needs to be made TODAY...or else. Also, you should know that the manager never called me back. I have no interest in telling them how to operate, I can only offer my experience with the hope that the consumer is better informed. Please consider a second opinion when using their services.
