After a long day walking and shopping along the Champ Elysses, we decided to pick up some baked goods from the infamous Paul for our breakfast the next morning. There is a large array of baked goods and macarons to choose from. We ended up with a simple array of croissants: pain au chocolat, croissant, a chocolate beignet and some mini brioche. I loved the flaky consistency of the croissant dough. Wished for a little more chocolate but I enjoyed my over night chocolate croissant. Highly recommend giving it a try! Maybe it's overhyped but it was delicious!

Pistachio macaroons on Valentine's Day!

Yes, I am aware Paul is a corporate chain. Yes, I am aware we have them in the states. Yes, I even frequent the ones back home in the states. BUT! The ones in the states don't compare to the ones in Paris! The ones in Paris are so much better, so I don't agree with the statement that all the locations are consistent. My favorite things here are the croissants, baguette sandwiches and large macaroons. I find that their large ones are much tastier than their small ones. The smaller ones are better from other establishments. Pistachio is my all time favorite. Their coffee and espresso is just alright. Go to other establishments for coffee. Prices are reasonable. Service is hit or miss at this location.

So I know this is a chain, but I don't care. I really liked it. We were staying on the Champs Elysses and our hotel did not include breakfast, so we just walked a couple of blocks and saw this place and Brioche Doree. There is a Brioche Doree in ATL airport so that wasn't exciting, so we decided to try Paul. They had a quiche Lorraine in the display case and I was dying to have a quiche. I had a list of "French" foods that I wanted to eat during our trip and this was on my list and one of the few things I hadn't had yet. So I ordered a quiche and my mom ordered an beignet with raspberry. The service was prompt and efficient. The price was exceptionally reasonable. We were able to eat at tables outside on the Champs Elysses. Talk about a fantastic view! My quiche was delicious. The crust was just perfect, not to hard and not too soft with just the right about of flakiness. My mom liked hers, but it wasn't her favorite of the trip. Overall, the food is good, the price is right, and the location is superb.

While doing a little shopping we decided to stop at Paul for coffee and a small treat. For starters the line was out the door so I figured it must be good. It took an awfully long time to get our order. There seemed to be 10 people working behind the counter but for some reason the line wasn't moving. The macarons was just OK. I much prefer Fauchon or Laduree.

not that impressive macaroons

My friend told me that this is the place i have to visit. So we did. I got a box of macaroons, eclair and flat bread. For all of it I paid about $50 and was disappointed. Macaroons were very average, eclair was ok and the flatbread was ok as well. Maybe this place is known for something else but I was quite disappointed.

Pastries with fresh whipped cream and raspberries. Amazing!!!

Paul's is delicious! Try a cup of coffee and a pastry filled with fresh whipped cream and raspberries....my absolute favorite! They have a wonderful assortment of breads, pastries, quiche, coffees etc. When in Paris there are many locations to choose from. Some of the train stations in London & Italy also have small Kiosk/ stores. In Athens, Greece the employees were so sweet...they made my favorite whipped cream pastries & saved for me each day....They sell out of them quickly so placing an order is a must. Amazing!!! I can't wait until I can have them again! Heavenly!

Not sure what all the hype is about. We stopped here to grab some snacks while we were frolicking around Champs Élysées and I was unimpressed. The spread looked nice, but the croissant was meh - I've had better at Costco. Pretty sad! We also had a quiche and the lady didn't properly heat it up - it was cold in the middle. Nonetheless, people seemed to be obsessed with Paul - you'll see it everywhere and there is always a line. I don't recommend it. Pop into a random café and you'll experience much better!

Bees on pastry?!
Soyoung S.

First time in Paris. We loved our sandwich there, but had a bit of a culture shock. Is it normal in Paris for bakeries to be filled with bees? So many bees! Even on the bread itself! & no one else but us seemed to care! I thought it was a bit gross, but the worker told me that the bees are clean & give honey..so I'm assuming it's a french thing? Hmm not so sure, but bread was good.

Chocolate croissant and latte

A friend of mine who is a world traveler highly recommended this place to me when visiting Paris. It's affordable and there are great choices - both sweet and savory. I really miss it and want to go back to try more items! I took off one star because of the inconsistent customer service and bees buzzing around the food, which is a turn off when you first walk in. If you're able to look past that and realize the turnover of their food given the long line and amount of food sold, it really is a must if you're in Paris!

Meh, better than American bakeries but not on par for other French ones. Espresso and almond croissant were both disappointing.

Pierre Hermé - Inside

Champs-Elysées, 8ème

Pierre Hermé If you…read moreknow Pierre Hermé from social media and all the viral videos, then this review needs no introduction. But if you haven't, this is a strong contender for worthy macarons in Paris and at a convenient location across the street from Ladurée. Located inside L'Occitane in the most gorgeous floor space ever, you will find Pierre Hermé at the center of it all. They have an impressive array of flavors that were much more unique than other patisseries. I definitely asked for a few recommendations as well since I tend to order the same thing (pistachio, raspberry, lemon, etc.) The workers were very kind. They indulged my request to converse in French and corrected me in a respectful and endearing way (I know some people get upset at this idea but I personally prefer it.) I had ordered a dozen macarons but truthfully would've ordered the entire lot if I wasn't alone and especially if I wasn't already taking a ton of sweets back for my flight home. I am a Ladurée purist and what I can say is that Pierre Hermé definitely had the best and most unique flavors compared to the two. The prices are fairly comparable and the coffrets are just as tasteful. Both are strong contenders and worthy of your money. I certainly will be returning and look forward to trying the rest of their selection. (15/50--2025)

Okay okay...I know Pierre Hermé is a super touristy macaron shop, and the Pierre Hermé on Champs…read moreElysée is probably the MOST touristy you can get, but I can't help but give this place five stars. Pierre Hermé is home to some of the best macarons I've had in my life -- which is probably too many for the good of my health -- and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the macarons, the staff's attention to detail, and all the unique flavors this shop had to offer. As a popular macaron shop in one of the hottest tourist destinations in Paris, this location is undeniably crowded. There's usually a huge line circling around a central display of macaron after macaron. The line looks pretty intimidating, but it moves quite quickly, and there are so many flavors that it'll probably be helpful to have a bit of extra time to review the menu. My friend and I split a pack of four macarons, including their seasonal isapahan (rose, lychee, raspberry), infiniment praliné pistache, and a jardin de cassandre (red currant, rhubarb). The macarons were delightful. I loved the two seasonal items; they were delightfully fruity and slightly floral, and I loved the slightly tangy flavor from the raspberry in the isapahan and rhubarb / currants in the jardin de cassandre. The praliné pistache was nice and nutty, and the inner cream offered a great additional richness. It's usually super crowded so seating tends to be quite limited. My friend and I ended up taking our macarons to go and enjoyed them elsewhere as we toured Champs Elysée.
