This is one of my favorite campgrounds I've ever been to!!! Kelly and Mikal treat their guests like family. From the first time I called Kelly was so kind and helpful. I have been numerous times now and it feels like going to a little slice of heaven each time. It's clean, beautiful, quiet, and they live on site so if there's an issue they are there to help! The sites are spread out and spacious so you won't have someone right on top of you. The sites are kept up so nicely and the campground itself is simply gorgeous. The bathrooms are clean, there are several free showers, and there is firewood for sale as well. The town of Guerneville itself is only five minutes away, and there are tons of cute little shops as well as a major grocery store. There are darling little art galleries, clothing stores, bakeries, ice cream shops, coffee shops, etc. The ocean is only a 25 minute drive down the road. There are endless little beaches to stop at, as well as numerous little beachside towns with restaurants and coffee shops. You can spend a whole day exploring highway 1, then head back to your campsite to relax. I feel so lucky to only live 3 hours away and be able to head there any time I want. I'm so grateful to Kelly and Mikal for being so accommodating and kind.

May 4 - 7, 2025 - Cloverdale…read more First off, I want to say that the staff is 5-star. Friendly and helpful. Now, about the campground. It is rustic. There are beautiful trees. Deer come to visit. Acorn woodpeckers are everywhere. It is near the river. That being said, the campground itself, particularly the RV sites, are in need of repair and upgrades. Many of the sites are not level. Quite a few had areas where RVs or trailers had bottomed out over and over, so deep ruts had developed into the pavement. Some had high inclines just to get into the site, so access could be a major headache depending on your rig. There are four camping sections. Some of the sections have cabins, along with RV sites. Each section has its own bathroom, except for the "C" loop. (The C loop bathroom has been closed for a long while and is being upgraded.) The sites are varied--a few have lots of room with no close neighbor. Others are packed tight together. So maybe look at the campground map when you book. They have water and 30-amp electrical hookups. No sewer hookups, but they do have a dump station. Some of the campers seem to be long term, and they have those portable RV dump tanks. They would drive back and forth with their portables--we were fairly close to the dump station, so it was a bit noisy and busy. Speaking of noisy, the campground is near Highway 101. You can see and hear the highway from camp. Highway 101 is on a ridge above the campground, and the traffic noise and truck brake noises seem to travel down. The river is nice, but there is not a lot of accessible area near the river. We walked down to the river, and there was a woman who was fishing and had her two dogs off leash. They were not friendly dogs. Also, it is very rocky. Not easy traveling. There are only two areas where you can set chairs down, and they are rather small areas. I didn't use the restroom facilities, but I did peek in, and they seemed clean enough, I guess. There were two showers, and three bathroom stalls (but one of the stalls was out of order.) Also of note: the restrooms require a code to enter, but none of our paperwork had the code written on it. We finally figured out that the gate code on the parking pass for our tow vehicle was also the bathroom code. Seems like they should write the code on the map of campground that they give you when you check in.

I had one of the sites that has a considerable incline to get into but easy to navigate and one in it's a nice site. My walks around haven't revealed much trash...some but not much. Some dog poo but not as much as I've seen at other campgrounds. Appears to be quite a few long term tenants but the few I've had interaction with were pleasant. Can hear the freeway but once inside and during the night it's been one of the quieter places I've been. I can actually sleep without my white noise machine. Havent used the facilities...peeked in one and it's "ok" but not sure if I'd use showers or laundry. But I really didn't look that close.

Crabbing is great and there's lots to do from clamming to fishing to exploring. We saw last time they are building toilets and showers, that will be nice. We haven't experienced any rude staff. The new car thing is a bit annoying, but not outlandish since we've been to many other places where they are strict with extra cars. The Owner, a person I would NEVER want to be be associated with. A real piece of work. Observed many times over the years shares entitled rude behavior with that of a tycoon. Two years ago, I'll never forget, this guy was complaining to ANY Customer who would listen about how he does so much to keep this place open and that people that complain about anything and everything are so ungrateful. It was really really colorful and downright disgusting. Excuse me? The people that PAY YOUR TAXES are ungrateful that you don't upgrade the sites they pay extreme amounts for? That you don't offer any amenities such as a shower or even that thing called...electricity? That you cater towards camping trailers with no water hookups? Mmmm, ok guy. Breathe. You do not provide toilets. Let alone ADA compliant areas for the toilets. You provide nasty ports potty that aren't even level on the ground. How is anyone supposed to wheelchair into the porta potty? They shake when you are in them. And they are disgusting. Your workers? blast them with a sudo washer and don't even take out the seat covers OR the toilet paper....and miss all the grossness. And then leave the residual water/product....that's just nasty. You blast gross stuff off the floor ONTO the toilet paper and seat covers because of laziness. I mean seriously....it's barely 50 outside and now I have to sit on a nasty went porta potty because your are too lazy to upgrade, let alone move paper until you are done? Penny pinch much? And what a concept of adding a smelly paper tree to remove some nasty stink. The photos are of the "handicap" porta potty. The others were gross, too. If not worse. These were after a "clean" too! You also do not provide electricity or anything that resembles comfort here. The grounds are totally unlevel on the camp sites. So, you won't be seeing many disabled folks here. OOOOO, all the dumpsters were FULL. Everywhere. It was a Wednesday. Majority of the camp sites are behind dunes. Unless you go to the seawall area, with no running water there either. Nothing to see but your neighbors getting drunk and dogs wandering everywhere. Fun. Never saw a "camp ranger" once. You have so many sites crammed next to one another so you can benefit off making money. 60$ for a pair of sweats? What? Like, woah guy. Ego much? Ohhhh, let's talk about the campers! Zero enforcement. Parking in other peoples spots and parking IN the roadways. Legit blocking people. And then have rude persons get defensive because they got asked politely to move their illegally parked vehicles from your purchased spot. So like, no, this place is not great. You get belligerent people and their visitors.....mmmmm, fun. This place is not worth it. Overcrowded, too. This isn'y Yosemite, and if it were, it would at least offer real amenities. This place does not.

Unfortunately we heard a sound coming from the engine area as we pulled into our site, and it did not sound good. The campground and sites were immaculate. My husband enjoyed looking at all the fencing and swing sets that we found out later Travis had built from the down redwoods on the property. We enjoyed playing corn hole and visiting our neighboring campers. As we started to leave the following morning, the sound was louder. Our friend who was traveling with us is very mechanical. He thought it was the air conditioner compressor. Travis came to the site and agreed with the assessment. Travis knew people in town, but it was Sunday. They allowed us to stay another night. Travis came by in the morning after making calls for us and took our friend to town to get the part. The part had to be ordered, Travis allowed us to stay another night to wait for the part. Travis and our friend Kyle picked up the part and we thought we were set! The two of them put the part on, but they needed another part (a serpentine belt). Of course, the part store said it would be in the following day. Once again, Travis allowed us to stay another night. The following morning Travis and Kyle went to town to get the belt. The two of them worked on it and had us up and running. As we pulled into our next campground in Gold Beach, I received a text. It was Travis wanting to make sure we were ok. We can not say enough positive things about the campground, professionalism and the hospitality. We will be back, hopefully sooner than later.
