I cannot express just how much love I have for this amazing Mendocino wedding venue. It is a photographers dream. Old victorian farmhouse, redwood vintage chic loft, eucalyptus grove, open fields, vintage event barns, outdoor fireplace, and it goes on and on. Just take a look at some of the photos I posted of weddings I have gotten to shoot there.

Just magnificent! There's a good sized living room, full kitchen and refrigerator, a small 4 seater dining area, a bedroom (almost entirely taken up by a queen bed) with a sliding door that opens onto a balcony and a full bathroom. I asked for decaf coffee ahead of time and that was waiting for me together with a small bottle of white wine from a local winery. There is no internet unless you connect to the property's wifi which is more than adequate - about 60 mbps in this bungalow. The bungalow temperature is controlled by a thermostat and a self-igniting gas fireplace. These are the plus-es. On the minus side, the balcony had no view to speak of at all, looking mostly at the exit road and the side of the bungalow in front of the Albion. (I think the view from the other bungalow balconies is better.) The furniture was old and very worn. The couch/ pull out bed in the living room was hard and not particularly comfortable to sit on watching TV. The biggest negative was my bathroom (but only the bathroom) was crawling with ants. When I mentioned it to the property contact they were quick to say they'll address but, unfortunately, it was time for me to leave before they could. (My fault for late notification to them). In all, it is a comfortable (not luxurious) stay in a spectacularly beautiful area at a reasonable price. It's a solid 3* accommodation in a 4-5* setting at a reasonable price.

I then wonder how dirty the rest of the floor is so I take some paper towels and clean an area and this is what it looks like. I emailed the innkeeper and they responded right away and said they would have someone take care of it in the morning. When we come home from dinner I go to turn the light on in the porch area and it's out. So I again email the innkeeper and he responded quick and said he would have the manager of the day call me tomorrow. So I get a call from one of the owners who didn't seem shocked and was semi apologetic. This cabin was over $400 a night and I would expect a clean and safe room. I asked for a discount and was offered a discount on a future stay and I said I would not be going there again and all he said was "okay and bye" and hung up. So some other thing's wrong in this cabin, slider door to patio, lock broken so the lock is a stick. Shower head is about to come off the wall. I will post pictures of that. The entire property is very unkempt, spider webs and weeds everywhere. Not worth the price we paid.

We stayed in the Treehouse room, and it was absolutely gorgeous. They even left a welcome note for us with our names on it. It had a tiny kitchenette with a microwave and fridge, plus everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The room also had coffee, tea, a tea kettle, and a coffee pot, and they even emailed us in advance to ask what type of creamer we wanted in the room, including almond, oat, and half-and-half options. One of our favorite parts was the real wood fireplace. It made the room feel so cozy and special. The bed was also super comfortable and warm, and we fell asleep with the window open, which was perfect. Eric and the team also give guests access to the lobby area, where you can play games, read books, and enjoy homemade cookies and lemon bars that they leave out for everyone. It was such a sweet touch. The entire property is beautiful and open, and there is a short trail down to the beach, about three minutes from the property. Around 5 p.m., we saw locals walking their dogs and hanging out by the beach, which made it feel even more charming and peaceful. Breakfast in the morning was amazing and included with the stay. Eric explained where all the ingredients were from (local) and even accommodated gluten free guests. Overall, Allegra has everything you need, so you really do not need to bring much. It was cozy, welcoming, and such a special place to stay. Big shoutout to Eric who went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. He drew us a map of local restaurants he recommended, all of which were amazing! We will definitely be back soon.

We did an easy self-check in and were greeted with a cute card, a small bottle of local wine, and some of the best chocolate cookies and lemon bars ever. We loved enjoying the view from our room with the ambient warmth from the wood-burning stove. The real gem was the freshly made breakfast served in the main house each morning. My husband and I were blown away by the flavors and freshness of both of our breakfasts and easily could have stayed longer for more. The staff here is very responsive, friendly, and really made us feel welcome. We absolutely would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quiet escape in Mendocino.

Gabi is a highly skilled masseuse and Richard is a master craftsman, so together they have created this incredible spot. You can come for the day and get a massage, perhaps combining it with a hike at the Van Damme State Park, or you can chose to stay the night (or in our case 8 nights) in the gorgeous barn, which Richard renovated. Here are the highlights. Massages: --Swedish 60 minute massage by Gabi was perfect --My husband and I liked our massages so much we booked massages later in the week --Gorgeous, clean setting on the top level of their renovated barn --Just a 10 minute drive from downtown Mendocino --You can combine getting a massage with hiking at the Van Damme State Park (free parking lot a 2 minute drive from the massage studio) Vacation Rental: --Perfect for anyone who wants more privacy than a B&B. --Clean, high ceilings, spacious feeling --Radiant floor heating and beautiful attention to detail throughout the home --Perfect for 2 people or families --Includes a fenced in front yard with a grill and outdoor seating --Well-stocked kitchen --Quiet, calm, peaceful --Gabi and Richard treat you like neighbors--plenty of privacy but also very kind I would have been happy to keep this little gem to ourselves, but Gabi and Richard have earned my respect and they deserve a good review! Thanks!!

You can see so much loving care and thought in all the details. The location is ideal for a sunny peaceful spot away from tourists. Dreamy bed and we loved the living room/ den for curling up with movies at night. Kitchen is beautifully appointed- everything you could need. The oversize bath tub is a dream- extra deep and longer than most typical baths. Very private entrance through a charming garden. Extremely well priced given all the space and the high end furnishings. We plan to return every chance we get to travel to the coast.

We loved the hot tub over looking the ocean, at night you could listen to the waves and watch the stars (as well as watch the ocean, we were there during a full moon and WOW!) , during the day you could watch the ocean and enjoy the sound of seabirds. The master bedroom is amazing! It has a beautiful wood bed with a puffy soft mattress and bedding that envelops you in snugly warmth. The view! Wow! When you look out the window you would swear you were floating on the ocean. The window is close enough to the cliff that you can't see anything but gorgeous ocean going on for miles and miles. (the website says "Perched 70 feet above sea level") There is a gorgeous 50" Satellite Plasma TV in the master bedroom also. This is the first place I have ever stayed that was so incredibly private I didn't worry about what I was wearing or not wearing while there. The kitchen was fully stocked with a Microwave, Toaster oven, Coffee Maker & Grinder, Toaster, refrigerator, stove, and oven as well as cooking & dining utensils. It was a very friendly feeling atmosphere, it made you feel like people had been coming there on their vacations for years and had just left behind the utensils they prefer. We found several great tea strainers and I think we left a few things including some good tea behind for the next person. The master bath room was stunning! It had a large walk-in shower for 2 (4 or 5 really) I loved the material used on the walls and floor, as well as the design of the shower. I was totally amazed by this rental, it is by far the most romantic place I have ever stayed and I can't wait to go back. I'm not sure what price range to rate this in but I'll say that for two nights it runs around $817 - $883

She led us back out into the yard and along a windy leafy path lit by fairylights through the redwoods. Words can't really do this experience justice - it's like something out of Lord of the Rings (in a good way)! At the end of the path (only 30 yards, feels further because of the twists and turns) is nestled Marilyn's yurt in a redwood clearing. Inside is a double air bed (v comfortable), 2 Layzee boys, a piano and lots and lots of space. It's huge. We were worried it might be cold but the heater took care of that. And you are literally surrounded by redwoods. Outside there's a little bench we sat on where you can gaze up at the stars through a gap in the towering trees. The only downsides are that there is no bathroom (there's an outhouse 20 yards away in the woods as well as a potty set up for nigh + access to a bathroom in the house) and you aren't allowed food in the yurt to keep animals at bay. But how often do you get to stay in a yurt in the redwoods??? And all this is only 2 miles from downtown Mendocino with restaurants etc galore... Finally, Marilyn was a great host, explaining things and providing local info when we needed it and leaving us alone when we didn't. Overall our weekend was great (and over all too soon) and we definitely hope to return...

But the real appeal is the views. Just unbelievably gorgeous. It's just one of those things you must do and see in person. We stayed in one of the rooms with the long shared balcony. My initial concern was privacy but it was a non-issue. Everyone was polite and friendly. No noise issues or anything. We spent most of our room time outside enjoying the views and just soaking all of the beauty in. The Little River Inn is just down the road from Mendocino, and a short 10-15 minute drive to Fort Bragg. Perfect location for what we were doing that weekend. Staff was wonderful. The real surprise of the trip was the restaurant. I normally shy away from hotel restaurants, as I prefer to sample the local cuisine. However, we decided to give it a try our first night for Dinner. I was delicious and quite popular with the locals as well. I'll be doing a separate review for the restaurant, as I strongly recommend having at least one meal there. We ended up having two...lol.
