Not reliable people. Never know if they'll do what they say they will do. How honest are they? Very not.

This was an amazing spa experience! You'd never know it looking at the front of the building, but…read morethe lot extends very far to the back where there are multiple buildings for lodgings and the spa/body work services. We booked the outdoor hot tub #2 for one hour on a Sunday. It's $40/person on the weekends. This was a rainy weekend early in the season, so the spa was very quiet. It was quite serene to be outside in the hot tub, with light rain falling down! There is complete privacy at the tub, but there is also a larger communal tub option as well. The sauna is also communal. One drawback is that the restroom and locker room area did not seem to have separated male/female spaces. Luckily, we had the place to ourselves besides some older women, so it was not an issue. However, I would not have loved it had it been busier. It's a small space, so heads up on that if you're going. Overall, this was a fun and unique experience to do in Mendocino. It was very relaxing and peaceful, and the price was decent for the service. I would definitely go again. Very fun!

Didn't like -step up to living room(dangerous for older people), no air conditioning , just ceiling fan. (hot living room because of windows), no usable chest of drawers (not easy to pull drawers in and out), noisy kitchen cupboard doors ( no pulls, slam shut), only very small closet (basically had to live out of suitcases for five days.

You have beach access to the beach (didn't see more than 3 people on the beach) it's a bit rugged just go slow and scoot on your bum. It's well worth it. People also surf on the beach. You can hear the waves and most rooms have a beach view! The home is wonderfully appointed, with comfortable furniture and lots of room to spread out. Everything you could think you need is here for your enjoyment! The kitchen has views of the ocean so even washing dishes is pleasurable It's a short drive to Ft Bragg a very cute little town with tons of great food and shops of every kind. Though once we got our food we stayed at the house it was so enjoyable. The owners were helpful, and had many notes on how everything worked. I highly recommend Cypress Cove, we're planning another visit!

My hubby and I rented the downstairs and our friends rented the upstairs. Both units have the MOST AMAZING views -- right on the bluff overlooking the ocean. They are both very comfortable and nicely appointed -- beds super comfy and jacuzzi bathtubs and separate shower. Deck with chairs to sit and enjoy the ocean. Wood stove, refrigerator, micro, coffee and all the plates/glasses/utensils, corkscrews -- whatever you need. We could hear the ocean and did I say AMAZING VIEWS??? We can't wait to go back and I have to say that communication with the rental agency (owners?) was first rate and totally professional. The upstairs unit has a full kitchen and the downstairs unit has just a fridge and microwave (but a better room configuration and just a tad better view - if that is possible). You gotta go!

We loved the hot tub over looking the ocean, at night you could listen to the waves and watch the stars (as well as watch the ocean, we were there during a full moon and WOW!) , during the day you could watch the ocean and enjoy the sound of seabirds. The master bedroom is amazing! It has a beautiful wood bed with a puffy soft mattress and bedding that envelops you in snugly warmth. The view! Wow! When you look out the window you would swear you were floating on the ocean. The window is close enough to the cliff that you can't see anything but gorgeous ocean going on for miles and miles. (the website says "Perched 70 feet above sea level") There is a gorgeous 50" Satellite Plasma TV in the master bedroom also. This is the first place I have ever stayed that was so incredibly private I didn't worry about what I was wearing or not wearing while there. The kitchen was fully stocked with a Microwave, Toaster oven, Coffee Maker & Grinder, Toaster, refrigerator, stove, and oven as well as cooking & dining utensils. It was a very friendly feeling atmosphere, it made you feel like people had been coming there on their vacations for years and had just left behind the utensils they prefer. We found several great tea strainers and I think we left a few things including some good tea behind for the next person. The master bath room was stunning! It had a large walk-in shower for 2 (4 or 5 really) I loved the material used on the walls and floor, as well as the design of the shower. I was totally amazed by this rental, it is by far the most romantic place I have ever stayed and I can't wait to go back. I'm not sure what price range to rate this in but I'll say that for two nights it runs around $817 - $883

She led us back out into the yard and along a windy leafy path lit by fairylights through the redwoods. Words can't really do this experience justice - it's like something out of Lord of the Rings (in a good way)! At the end of the path (only 30 yards, feels further because of the twists and turns) is nestled Marilyn's yurt in a redwood clearing. Inside is a double air bed (v comfortable), 2 Layzee boys, a piano and lots and lots of space. It's huge. We were worried it might be cold but the heater took care of that. And you are literally surrounded by redwoods. Outside there's a little bench we sat on where you can gaze up at the stars through a gap in the towering trees. The only downsides are that there is no bathroom (there's an outhouse 20 yards away in the woods as well as a potty set up for nigh + access to a bathroom in the house) and you aren't allowed food in the yurt to keep animals at bay. But how often do you get to stay in a yurt in the redwoods??? And all this is only 2 miles from downtown Mendocino with restaurants etc galore... Finally, Marilyn was a great host, explaining things and providing local info when we needed it and leaving us alone when we didn't. Overall our weekend was great (and over all too soon) and we definitely hope to return...

Just magnificent! There's a good sized living room, full kitchen and refrigerator, a small 4 seater dining area, a bedroom (almost entirely taken up by a queen bed) with a sliding door that opens onto a balcony and a full bathroom. I asked for decaf coffee ahead of time and that was waiting for me together with a small bottle of white wine from a local winery. There is no internet unless you connect to the property's wifi which is more than adequate - about 60 mbps in this bungalow. The bungalow temperature is controlled by a thermostat and a self-igniting gas fireplace. These are the plus-es. On the minus side, the balcony had no view to speak of at all, looking mostly at the exit road and the side of the bungalow in front of the Albion. (I think the view from the other bungalow balconies is better.) The furniture was old and very worn. The couch/ pull out bed in the living room was hard and not particularly comfortable to sit on watching TV. The biggest negative was my bathroom (but only the bathroom) was crawling with ants. When I mentioned it to the property contact they were quick to say they'll address but, unfortunately, it was time for me to leave before they could. (My fault for late notification to them). In all, it is a comfortable (not luxurious) stay in a spectacularly beautiful area at a reasonable price. It's a solid 3* accommodation in a 4-5* setting at a reasonable price.

I then wonder how dirty the rest of the floor is so I take some paper towels and clean an area and this is what it looks like. I emailed the innkeeper and they responded right away and said they would have someone take care of it in the morning. When we come home from dinner I go to turn the light on in the porch area and it's out. So I again email the innkeeper and he responded quick and said he would have the manager of the day call me tomorrow. So I get a call from one of the owners who didn't seem shocked and was semi apologetic. This cabin was over $400 a night and I would expect a clean and safe room. I asked for a discount and was offered a discount on a future stay and I said I would not be going there again and all he said was "okay and bye" and hung up. So some other thing's wrong in this cabin, slider door to patio, lock broken so the lock is a stick. Shower head is about to come off the wall. I will post pictures of that. The entire property is very unkempt, spider webs and weeds everywhere. Not worth the price we paid.

The girlfriend and I recently went up to Mendocino for her birthday weekend during December…read more14-15th, 2024. This review is for our 2 night stay in the Bessie Strauss Suite. Now, for starters, when I think of a room "suite" you're expecting pretty nice amenities. You definitely want to feel like you have the comforts of home at your disposal. This room is listed as having. . . White Water Ocean Views King Featherbed Wood-burning Fireplace Mini Fridge Private Bath Tub and Shower So, let's get into it..... Firstly, I found it very easy to reserve the room via the app from Booking.com It's one of my preferred travel reservation methods, and the Inn Keeper John later reached out to confirm payment details and to charge the room just before my stay. That part was very simple. We arrived on Sat 14th around 3 ish in the afternoon to be greeted by one of the hosts named Diane. She is very welcoming and friendly. Gave us a little tour, asked if we needed anything, showed us to our room, etc. Diane gets 10 stars for her individual role within the Bed and Breakfast. Mind you, December is VERY cold in Mendocino. Some roads can be flooded. The ocean waves are angry but beautiful. It's windy and rainy. It's cold!! But I am dating a winter snow bear so she likes to feel the chill while retreating to a comfortable room. For this review, I am going to simplify it with a pros/cons list of how the experience was for 2 days, 2 nights. PROS --- Diane makes homemade cookies daily. Delicious! Delicious homemade breakfast served daily outside the room (picture) Wonderful upstairs views of the ocean tides Best homemade pesto sauce I have ever had during breakfast A very large plush king sized bed with like 12 pillows A mini fridge which is appreciated Strong fast wifi connection A seating area to eat cookies and interact with other guests Walking distance to the town of Mendocino A large enough room where we didn't directly hear too much noise above or below Up front parking right by the Inn You have a set of keys to come and go at all hours from the front locking door to your room. CONS --- Featherbed, you say? It is so plush, that you have zero support for joints. For those of us in our 40s, we went from a relaxing massage in town, to waking up with back and joint pain from it being too feathery. No support. Tub and Shower? Sure. They even have a cute lavender sleep bath salt. What could be the problem. How about that the tub only filled up with barely lukewarm water. My breath has more heat. The tub and shower wasn't cold, but it definitely did not warm us. My partner had to use the tea kettle to boil water and pour me a bath. The lamp on one side of the bed kept flickering and wouldn't turn on. We had one lamp across the room by the sofa. One small lamp on the other side of the bed. One very wobbly lamp on the table by the bay view window. And the bathroom lights. The room is dark and dreary. Oh, let's not forget the wood-burning Fireplace. I have never been so anxiety filled near a fireplace. The fireplace is the only place to really have warmth. The room itself is large and drafty so it will get cold. There's a tiny space heater behind the couch but that does nothing. You could touch it with your hand. The fireplace chain screen that is there as a safety measure so you don't have fiery embers flinging out on the carpet or worse, on you, doesn't close all the way! It is very old and outdated. Downright safety hazard! I was cold every day, and every night. I couldn't get heat from the tub, shower, fireplace, space heater or anything! Obviously, we cuddled and had the bed blankets, but then your back hurts from the pillow softness. The couch is more comfortable. I am not even going out of my way to find negativity with the stay. This is just how it went! For the price of this suite, my experience was very disappointing! I have been cold ever since! We would not stay again.
