When we got back after a long day, there were no other charging spots available, so we used the charger near our room. Our Tesla was actively charging with an adapter. Around 8 that evening, I was already in bed when the front desk called and then knocked asking us to move the car so another guest could use that charger. Since it was not a Tesla charger, I think there may have been an assumption that we were just parked there, but the car was actually charging. To me, if a car is actively charging, common sense would be to let it finish. If it was fully charged and still sitting there the next morning, I would completely understand bringing it up then. Asking us to move that evening while the car was actively charging felt like poor judgment, especially since there were no other charging spots available when we got back. I did move the car a few minutes later, but it was frustrating and not a great way to end an otherwise really good birthday stay. Overall, I would still recommend the hotel. Great staff, great restaurant and a very nice stay.

We stayed in the Treehouse room, and it was absolutely gorgeous. They even left a welcome note for us with our names on it. It had a tiny kitchenette with a microwave and fridge, plus everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The room also had coffee, tea, a tea kettle, and a coffee pot, and they even emailed us in advance to ask what type of creamer we wanted in the room, including almond, oat, and half-and-half options. One of our favorite parts was the real wood fireplace. It made the room feel so cozy and special. The bed was also super comfortable and warm, and we fell asleep with the window open, which was perfect. Eric and the team also give guests access to the lobby area, where you can play games, read books, and enjoy homemade cookies and lemon bars that they leave out for everyone. It was such a sweet touch. The entire property is beautiful and open, and there is a short trail down to the beach, about three minutes from the property. Around 5 p.m., we saw locals walking their dogs and hanging out by the beach, which made it feel even more charming and peaceful. Breakfast in the morning was amazing and included with the stay. Eric explained where all the ingredients were from (local) and even accommodated gluten free guests. Overall, Allegra has everything you need, so you really do not need to bring much. It was cozy, welcoming, and such a special place to stay. Big shoutout to Eric who went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. He drew us a map of local restaurants he recommended, all of which were amazing! We will definitely be back soon.

These are the reasons why: there is no room service unless one asks for it; our room #19 was disturbed by someone on the property replacing the roof right out side our window; the rate includes breakfast and the service was so bad that on our second night we bought breakfast at a nearby cafe; we had a classic drink (gimlet) at the bar and I had to tell the attendant how to make it; the physical plant needs major attention, very tired. The final incident sealed the deal for me. I went to the front to request a meet with management to address the constant hammering--never a response! It is very sad for us because we used to love this place.

I've stayed at this B&B several…read moretimes over the past 20 years and the current (offsite and very distant) ownership group is quickly putting the final nail in the proverbial coffin. I'll start with the biggest issue. A total lack of transparency. When we booked our multi-nite stay, there was no notice of ongoing construction on the exterior deck AND the desk clerk said nothing about it when we checked in. The noise was off and on all day, including weekends. I'm not simply referring to hammering and sawing. The crew was playing music and SINGING along...right outside our windows. When we complained about this to 3 different desk clerks, all claimed ignorance and/or that they had "no control" over the situation". Similar situation during breakfast, when we were told they were out of 2-4 items on the menu EVERY morning. Regarding the menu, the entre descriptions were generally incorrect as what we were served never matched the entre description on the menu. Update the menu! The lack of communication among and between staff was remarkable and led to missed accommodations, confirmations or simply not getting a response at all. We learned quickly that we needed to tell every single staff member that we could find about any concern or question we had. Ridiculous. Regarding staff, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and simply assume that they are struggling, greatly, obtaining and/or retaining staff. The staff seemed very poorly trained on most functions, including basic customer service. They were pleasant, but uninformed often incapable, and totally unaccountable. This is a management issue, 100%. One of my fondest memories of the Brewery Gulch Inn has always been the setting and the current management is systematically destroying it. A casual look around the property, let alone a stroll, and you will see piles of debris, construction, or otherwise, dilapidated or decaying sitting areas, unkempt landscaping, and a general lack of attention. For those of us who remember the Brewery Gulch Inn from years past, this is one of the saddest parts of my review. On the positive/neutral side, the rooms are fairly well maintained (shower fixtures, light fixtures need attention), carpet is overdue for replacement). Housekeeping is attentive and thorough. For an Inn on the Mendocino coast that's charging upwards of $800-900 per night, depending on the room and season, it's shocking the entity that owns the Brewery Gulch Inn is allowing this to happen (and after talking with some other establishments in the area, I felt like the last to know). In summary, there are many locations to choose from in the area that provide a setting with service that match the price. The Brewery Gulch Inn is not one of them. Buyer beware.

Isabel sent a detailed response that seemed appropriate and areas they will be working on to bring the BGI back to a higher standard. I appreciated her sincere response. I hope this happens as this has always been such a special place to stay. I will give the BGI second chance down the road.

If I could give one suggestion that would make it even better... more breakfast options in the morning. The oatmeal was delicious though. We loved the coffee and tea station. It is a little pricey to stay here, but it's a great experience! Beautiful place.

We paid for privacy and got a tent that was indeed 'sort of' far away from others, but in exchange for that we were overlooking the highway. Couldn't even hear the ocean with the traffic noise. The tent itself is not even close to worth the price. Bare minimum for a "glamping" experience. The tent was also made from vinyl or some other material that squeaked loudly constantly as it rubbed against the metal frame at the slightest breeze. We were told to be wary of racoons when we arrived. Fair enough, but the tent flap had a perfect 'racoon-sized' hole in it. Again, showers, bathroom, shop, etc are nothing remotely special for the price they demand. We asked for our money back due to the squeaking and hole in the tent, but they refused citing their ridiculous 2-week cancellation policy. We left anyway as we couldn't sleep. Do yourself a favor and "glamp" somewhere else. Or just save yourself some money and pitch a tent in the woods yourself. Awful!

I would have given 5 stars but the bathroom was not so private and a bit too close to the downstairs bed. Overall...very fair rate for our stay. I would stay here agein

It's the perfect escape from everything and totally affordable. We stayed in the garden studio on weekdays for only $70/night. You can't beat that price for any room that's actually in the tiny town of Mendocino. There's no breakfast served at the cottages but you're only a short walk from downtown Mendocino which has plenty of coffee, food options, and great art galleries. Mendocino is adorable, and has a completely relaxed vibe. The cottages are on the very west end of town so only a 1/4 mile walk down the road to Mendocino Headlands State Park with breathtaking scenery. The room was very clean, quirky and cozy decorations, and plenty of firewood is provided. The three cottages are on the same property, kind of an extended backyard, but the incredible garden and ample space made it seem very private. The proprietor was nice but not overly involved in our stay or our business. She lives on site but was pretty much absent. This is a great place to stay in Mendocino and the price is unbeatable.

Lounge area was quite large and really nice. They do sell wine at their location. There are only two things that I could point out in regard to my stay. This didn't take away from the five stars at all. There was a dead bug that was smashed on the wall next to the front door. The 2nd item had to do with comfort. I prefer a medium firm bed and the mattress was extremely soft. We communicated with a kind front desk staff member that gave us recommendations for breakfast. That was helpful for our visit. Overall, I enjoyed this stay.

The staff were very friendly and suggested their faves for breakfast and we did take their word. The Inn also offered complimentary wine tastings at Husch Winery and we also enjoyed the offering and were pleasantly surprised the winery also offered us a discount for purchases since we were staying at the Inn. Something I really would like to mention is the welcoming cheerful hospitality and professionalism of the manager Steven Maldonado. During our stay we experienced a provider internet service outage the 2nd night of our stay. Steven was so diligent in his attempts to resolve that he stayed for a long period of time troubleshooting to clear the premise and making repeated calls to the provider. He also came to personally inform us that it didn't look like it would be restored that evening. He was also back really early to get back to getting the issue resolved with the provider. We stepped into the office to check out and he said it had been resolved. I thanked him and told him he was so great through it all. He never lost his cheery disposition and welcoming charm during the experience. We will definitely check for cottage availability when we come back to Mendocino to visit.

We spent three nights in the Vista Room and agree with many others that the view is one of the best in Mendocino, within walking distance to the bluffs and downtown. The room is very well appointed, coat rack, iron, hairdryer and some kitchen items like a bit of silverware, coffee mugs and wine glasses. The couches recline, and the TV is hidden up top of the fireplace!! Romance by the Sea, lives up to its name with the many sparkling surprises. A beautiful setting for couples to appreciate each other as well as all the beauty bestowed on us from Mother Nature. We've already made reservations to come back

Heaven on earth!! Hands down, favorite place I've ever stayed…read more I planned this trip almost 6 months ago when I committed to run my first ultra -- Mendocino 50K. I noticed the Seaside cottage was located near town and I was drawn to the "penthouse" for its spa/jacuzzi tub which I thought would be delightful after running 31+ miles. The room surpassed my expectations with breathtaking views of the Mendocino headlands. I appreciated the fantastic location ~0.5 mi short walk to town and the luxurious, comfortable bed. Mel is the best host and so many thoughtful touches like a welcome basket, coffee and even binoculars to check out wildlife. I've never felt so relaxed and happy. I love Mendocino and the Seaside cottage. Definitely returning -- highly recommend
