I haven't been to the Beachcomber in 2 years. I loved my last visit. This time not so much. The room was definitely not tooken care of the same. The card locks on the doors were corroded, making entry annoying. The room smelled and looked amazing upon entry. It was a nice room. There were things I didn't like for the price I paid. The #1 thing being the beds. They had no spring to them at all. It just felt like a bunch of blankets or a pad. The beds were so much better before. They must be using refurbished mattresses now. Our backs are killing us 2 days after being home. The coffee pot didn't work it said it needed descaled. There was no bag in the ice dish. There was a pubic hair in the soap holder in shower. The toilet & tub was so tiny. The screen didn't lock it was also very dirty. It just wasn't what I was use to for $600. And no breakfast at all, not even a muffin. The room had a great view. The office guys seemed pleasant but this place has went down hill. I highly doubt I will come back. North Cliff is a lot better now.

My husband and I went up to Fort Bragg for one night to ride the Skunk Train. While looking for a room we wanted specific things like close to the ocean, clean and a jacuzzi and we found all here so we booked it. We booked months in advance and we were pleasantly surprised to find out on arrival that they had just remodeled. Room #145 The room was super clean, the bed was very comfortable for us. Jacuzzi not updated but works just fine. Fills slow so have patience. I love that they took out the carpet and replaced with tile. There is no AC or heater in the room but this time of year it was not needed but during summer I'm sure we would have needed AC and during colder months heat is needed so not sure why they are provided at all. The check in was great. The person who helped us was very friendly and explained all aspects of property and rules due to fire pits and whatnot. I never have dealt with a nicer front desk person. We have an EV car and there are 2 chargers but unfortunately we couldn't use either because there was a Tesla parked in one that was not charging all night and a motor cycle parked in the other. There are super charges close by but would have been nice to get a free charge. I'm sure I could have went to the front desk and they would have found the owners but it's not worth the hassle. The beach is a close walk. They have a cute little dog area. The outside of property is well maintained and beautiful as well.

What a wonderful clean perfect spot! Just walk out your door you can rent bikes you can walk to get something to eat or ride a bike to get something to eat. Perfect location very clean room.

Haven't actually stayed here, but this place was recommended by a couple of DogTrekkers representatives I met at a booth at Bark in the Park in San Jose. Not only are they dog friendly but apparently they have a program where you can borrow a shelter dog for a few hours to play and go out with. What a great way to make a vacation even more fun and show love to a dog that really needs it.

    It's right here!

Wow! Beachcomber has had a makeover! They've remodeled since our last visit and we really love it! We opted for a kitchenette unit and it's perfect! The bathroom was done and they installed anti fog mirrors that have electronics! It isn't the quietest motel on earth because there are kids, dogs and other things that some people can't deal with. For them, I suggest a more private accommodation at one of the Beachcomber ownership group's other motels nearby! The people who own these motels know what they are doing. They bring value to the table in the form of a warm friendly staff and a clean, well kept motel. We've stayed here dozens of times and will will keep coming here as long as we live! Have a nice day!

Stayed here for 1 night and I wish it could have been longer. I will definitely be back, the room was spacious and the view incredible. Everything was clean and the room was nicely decorated. I chose this hotel because it is very dog friendly for me and my dog. The room was recently renovated so it was really nice.

    Fire pit area

The most amazing views. Incredibly friendly front desk gal, she was so helpful and made everything so easy. Room is clean. Fire pit area is welcoming. Right on the path for easy and beautiful walk to glass beach and town.

This was the view from our patio.

This was the most epic stay, me and my husband rented the jacuzzi tub room on the second floor with a patio and fireplace. We had the most amazing view, we could hear and see the beach, it was so peaceful. The jacuzzi was great, ready when we arrived, the room was clean and absolutely have no complaints other than the bed was a little uncomfortable, but I would stay here again because everything else was amazing, staff was also super helpful and very nice.

    The view from our room.

We spent last week at the Beachcomber. What a great place to stay! Very friendly staff. Rooms were clean. Comfortable beds, pillows, comforter.... Good size fridge/freezer, Keurig, type coffeemaker. Adirondack chairs out on the patio as seen in the video. Gas fire pits, gas bbq's for guests to use. There is also a viewing deck that is very peaceful. We took binoculars with us and could see the whales "spouting" from the upper deck. The hotel is older, but maintained. The rates are very fair imo. Sipping coffee on this beautiful property 1st thing in the morning is an amazing treat! Thx you to all the staff that were always friendly and busy cleaning ect.... We appreciate you! C-ya next year!

Amazing! Not only are there amazing views, wonderful paths for strolls looking out to the ocean, they are super dog friendly with a cute dog park for your furry friend to run. Found this spot on a whim and will totally be back. Highly recommend.

Ask the Community - Beachcomber Motel

Hi, is it possible to bring both our dogs? We are a multi pet household. Thanks!

Yes, they are pet friendly and I think you can bring both dogs. The pet fee is $20.00

How much is the bike rental?

Our beach cruisers rent for $8/hr, $25/half day (4 hours), and $35/all day (8 hours).

Do they have rooms that don't allow dogs?

No, They are a pet friendly hotel... I was afraid our room would have smells associated with pets... not the case! I have a sensitivity to dogs that aren’t hypoallergenic... and I had no issues.

We thought it was a saw, sounded like someone was doing renovations above our room. No 'continental' breakfast, just coffee pods and tea bags. Agree with Doreen B - rooms are shabby. Don't expect daily room service as that must now be a thing of the past. Rates don't reflect the lack of services or condition of the property. Location is fine. Not far out of town. Does have access to the beach - with a walk through a field and then a hike down a cliff. So if your up for that? There is a paved walk/bike path that runs behind the property and is heavily used. Don't expect privacy on your little deck - if you are lucky to face the ocean. Parking is slim, but there is a public parking lot right next door that you could walk over from. The staff is great. They are well aware of the properties shortcomings. Would I come back here again - no.

Staff was great and very helpful if I had any questions. Would definitely stay here again.

But we were provided ear plugs and a box fan. Due to the excessive heat this year (and probably every year moving forward--thanks a lot consumerist culture and climate change), we were roasting the first night. No AC. (And I hope they never get it. More wasted energy.) Used the box fan the second night and it was perfect. During the day, opened the glass patio door and enjoyed the ocean breeze. We called ahead to see if there was a restaurant on sight. There isn't one, but they have a sister restaurant that is about 3 min away that if you get their coupon you get 20% off. It's only 3.5 stars on Yelp so we passed and ate on our way. We were running late so that was really our only option to get lunch on our way to work. On the phone they asked us our arrive time and according to the gps it said 1hr and 12 minutes. She said she'll try to have our room ready as people were just checking out now. We arrived at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 4th 2026. To our amazement our room was ready, we weren't expecting that as we were so early. It was a blessing as I had to get to work in the room, we can work remotely sometimes. They also upgraded us to a room with a view. And it's a remarkable view of the ward and harbor. You can hear the sea lions, I believe barking at each other and many species of bird singing. There is a balcony with chairs you can sit out on too. The room has its own thermostat which keeps the room toasty warm on low and it's quiet. I can't recall what kind of unit it is but it's in the blood bad it quietly pushes hot air out. The room has a kireg type machine with sorted coffee, large mini fridge and freezer, and microwave. There is a desk and lounge chair and big screen tv with multiple channels. The shower/tub and toilet is separate from the vanity. The light to the tub/ toilet are is on the outside and the fan is extremely loud, so loud that it will wake up your mates who are in a deep slumber, so that's a minus. They have a ground floor that requires no steps and has a ramp that goes around to additional rooms. Other than that there are a lot of steps and no elevator that we've seen. So if you don't do stairs pick the ground floor and walk in on the lobby side. The lobby has all day tea, coffee, hot chocolate complimentary. They also have snacks and drinks for purchase: rice a Toni, Mac n cheese, spaghetti o's chicken noodle soup, tuna/chicken and crackers, chips, jerky oatmeal, and cold cereal. As for drinks they have juice boxes, milk, Gatorade, matcha, ect. No alcohol that I could see. The wharf is a 15 min walk or 3 min drive and they have seafood restaurants there. Across the street is Homestyle cafe for breakfast and lunch and you're a few min from downtown. This is a great location.

Be forewarned, this hotel is definitely outdated, but it had everything we needed: it was fairly quiet, had a comfy bed, good water pressure, and was clean! Since our room was closer to the highway, it was a bit noisy with the sliding glass door open, but was fine once it was closed. It didn't bother us at night.
