Horrible old worn out Spring mattresses !!!

Honest Review: We won't be returning Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. We had to change rooms twice just to find something somewhat acceptable, hoping for a newer and more comfortable mattress--but that wasn't the case. The mattresses are thin, cheap spring mattresses with no pillow top, so you can feel and even hear the springs when you move (especially in rooms 501 & 104). It made for one of the worst nights of sleep we've ever had. Our backs are so unpleasantly aching today. Not fun when on vacation ! There was also a strong, unpleasant funky odor in the rooms, likely coming from the old, dirty carpet. We had to keep the heater on and the sliding door open just to make it tolerable. The sofa bed in the first room (#501) we were given was in very poor condition--worn out and had a strong, funky smell. Overall, this was not a comfortable or enjoyable stay, and we would not return.

Honest review: Stayed here for 1 night. The hotel is centrally located which is really nice. We had the queen bedroom with a view, room 504. The view was really nice, but it was also right next to the road so it can get pretty noisy when you're trying to sleep. When we checked in, the lady who helped us wasn't rude but she wasn't warm and friendly either. I was kind of put off, but the room made up for it though. It was really nice and had plenty of room, the bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows and towels. It was clean and they had a microwave and a mini fridge, coffeemaker, and hair dryer. However, the room had a strange smell to it. Maybe it's just old? We had to leave a window cracked open to air it out. There were random holes that were stuffed with tin foil. The doors get loud when other guests slam their doors. Parking is small but we never had issues with parking. This place is close to the skunk train and is walking distance to glass beach so that is a HUGE plus! And last, this inn is right across a cemetery (you can check it on maps), if I had known I probably wouldn't have booked it, but if that doesn't bother you then you'll like staying here.

Work sends us to Mendocino County a few times a year, so this review is long overdue. This was the only available hotel when we stayed last spring, and we're so glad it was this place. Our corner room faced Pudding Creek and the bridge. We kept the window open to enjoy the cool, refreshing breeze. Our room was clean and cost less than expected in this area. We loved the balcony and all of the birds flying around. It's so peaceful and gorgeous here. Would love to return when there's no work involved, just relaxing and soaking in the scenery.

Their sister motel is right down the road that is 24/7 so if you're ever too late for check in they have your stuff seriously 30 seconds down the road waiting!! The room smelt really really good and had such a beautiful view, we will definitely be visiting here again. Idk how they feel about the cats being fed that roam around the inn but we fed them treats and watched the sunrise with the kitties:)

The room smelled like burnt crayons and my best efforts to air it out failed. I could overlook the aged design, but dang, the burnt crayon odor was terrible! The customer service also left something to be desired.

Nice clean hotel, friendly staff! Nice soaking tub

The outside looks very modest, but when you get into the rooms, they were clean comfortable and offer nice places to sit outside while you have your lunch and look at the water and hear the ocean waves breaking below. I would return to this place in a minute. Everyone that worked here was helpful and nice. And I would recommend if you're going there go to the south end of the building and on the second floor they have an outdoor sitting area where you can look at the ocean and have your lunch under canopies. Enjoy this place we will be back. If you're ever in Fort Bragg, be sure also to visit the nearby glass beach. It's really famous and it's fun to poke around there. You can also catch the skunk train easily from this location.

Nobody had wifi that worked well. You'd get maybe a minute or two connected, then offline. There's no AC, but the pet suite had a decent cross flow of air. The kids rooms however did not, just a small bathroom window near the front, and a sliding glass door near the back. Not really something you can securely leave open all night. The rooms themselves were clean and well maintained, offering a TV, a microwave and a mini fridge. Staff was very responsive, we called for extra towels and coffee, received them right away. Key cards seemed to be an issue for us and other guests. We had to return to the front desk several times due to non-functional cards. We saw several other guests return as well. Location is pretty nice. Right by the shore and at the south end of town. There's a handful of bikes for rent which is nice. Several places to eat well within biking distance, including a Denny's. The firepit area and BBQ's though, need to have some sort of reservation system. We had one family monopolizing one corner. All in all, a fair balance of positives and negatives except when you get to the price. You're paying on the high side, so you expect a little better. The pet room was fun though, our dog enjoyed having her own little spot to go in and out.

The hotel provides a continental style "to go breakfast" that consists of: fruit, muffins, coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs, etc. For some it could be a challenge to walk up and down stairs, but it is not for most folks..A downside for some, may be the thin walls. We called ahead to see if there was a restaurant on sight. There isn't one, but they have a sister restaurant that is about 3 min away that if you get their coupon you get 20% off. It's only 3.5 stars on Yelp so we passed and ate on our way. We were running late so that was really our only option to get lunch on our way to work. On the phone they asked us our arrive time and according to the gps it said 1hr and 12 minutes. She said she'll try to have our room ready as people were just checking out now. We arrived at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 4th 2026. To our amazement our room was ready, we weren't expecting that as we were so early. It was a blessing as I had to get to work in the room, we can work remotely sometimes. They also upgraded us to a room with a view. And it's a remarkable view of the ward and harbor. You can hear the sea lions, I believe barking at each other and many species of bird singing. There is a balcony with chairs you can sit out on too. The room has its own thermostat which keeps the room toasty warm on low and it's quiet. I can't recall what kind of unit it is but it's in the blood bad it quietly pushes hot air out. The room has a kireg type machine with sorted coffee, large mini fridge and freezer, and microwave. There is a desk and lounge chair and big screen tv with multiple channels. The shower/tub and toilet is separate from the vanity. The light to the tub/ toilet are is on the outside and the fan is extremely loud, so loud that it will wake up your mates who are in a deep slumber, so that's a minus. They have a ground floor that requires no steps and has a ramp that goes around to additional rooms. Other than that there are a lot of steps and no elevator that we've seen. So if you don't do stairs pick the ground floor and walk in on the lobby side. The lobby has all day tea, coffee, hot chocolate complimentary. They also have snacks and drinks for purchase: rice a Toni, Mac n cheese, spaghetti o's chicken noodle soup, tuna/chicken and crackers, chips, jerky oatmeal, and cold cereal. As for drinks they have juice boxes, milk, Gatorade, matcha, ect. No alcohol that I could see. The wharf is a 15 min walk or 3 min drive and they have seafood restaurants there. Across the street is Homestyle cafe for breakfast and lunch and you're a few min from downtown. This is a great location.
