Do not make a reservation here. Fiasco in August for us. Your Verizon cell will not get texts to give you your room entry. Not fancy but cute and clean. Maria was super friendly and our cottage #1 Dolphin was ready early. Love the kitchen allowing us to buy groceries at the Safeway fown the street. The Botanical Gardens are practically across the street Noyo Harbor is 5 minutes and downtown is about 8 minutes away. read more

Easy self check in once I figured it out. Spotless cabins! Even though maid service is on request it would be nice if they would automatically check on little things like paper towels etc on a daily basis, but . . . We are told to ask though. I absolutely loved this place. It was reasonably priced and had everything I needed for a 3 day stay. It was like an air b&b but in little cottages. It had a full kitchen with anything needed to cook and eat in. We arrived late at night and I couldn't find my check in but it was easy to contact the management and we they were super helpful. The location is great and close to everything. I really really enjoyed this place and I hope to come back. We had a great time. read more

I highly recommend Shoreline Cottages. I cross-referenced Yelp reviews and Expedia prices for any lodging under $200 and this was the best choice when measuring price vs. cleanliness, noise, and location. CLEAN: The #1 factor is cleanliness, and Shoreline Cottages did not disappoint. Even a German grandmother would approve. NOISE: The #2 factor is noise. I did not hear my neighbors at all. The cabins have no shared walls, so that helps. The only noise came from the cars whipping down PCH. LOCATION: It's not too far from the restaurants where the 20 ends, a ten minute walk to Ft. Bragg Beach, two miles from the main strip in Fort Bragg, and three miles from Glass Beach. Overall the place was impressively thoughtful, though I will pepper in my small criticisms as we go along... Each cottage is self-standing with a theme: it's not exactly Madonna Inn (there's no caveman room), but it makes each one unique. Each unit has a carport, which is more attractive and safe than a parking lot, and a table and two chairs. The common area has tables and a grill. The middle area is attractive, though perhaps only useful to a dog. Hammocks would be a fun addition. Or cornhole. The units are "cozy" if you see glasses of water as half-full, or "tiny" if you see them as half-empty. The bed was comfortable but the strange pillows (Cabin 2) felt like balloons. I trying folding them as I slept and couldn't,. My wife woke up and she had made a poodle! The wifi was fine, though not enough for my wife to text photos. But maybe that's on me. I have a flip phone from Readers Digest Cellular. The separate kitchens have a fridge (psst, the one in #2 needs stabilization), coffeemaker, microwave, and dishes! The water faucets turn the wrong way- even in the bathroom. I don't know if it is a European thing or if the plumber was doing a headstand when he installed them. Maybe he heard his dad wrong when he taught him "Lefty loosey, righty tighty" and he thought it was "I Love Lucy, Tighty Whities". He has some splainin' to do. The check-in is contactless and the doors used codes for entry. They thoughtfully made the code the last four digits of my phone number, unless that was a coincidence. This might be problematic if Jenny stays there, in which I know her code is 5-3-oh--ni-ee-ine, but it was convenient to have no key to lose or repeatedly swipe like a limp, powder-soft dollar bill in a stubborn vending machine. We had three remotes by our bed. One for the smart TV. One for the cool fireplace feature. The third was a mystery. Maybe it was for the ceiling fan. Damn, maybe it stabilizes the fridge! Bonus was the hot tub with late hours (10pm) which stands in an enclosed, locked, and raised platform with shelf space, electronic candles, and a convenient lid opening mechanism. I think they should post instructions, or at least have a glow stick near the controls. And, I think stepping stones from the lot across the ten feet of terrain would be helpful for people who don't want to wear shoes. I don't think the ground was dirt, it felt more like Legos. read more

Pros: Beds and towels were clean. Quiet. Convenience. Heater. Opportunities for improvement (may be out of code): -fire extinguisher outside our room was corroded and uncertain if it had been inspected in years. -no smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector in the room - Odor is strong as there is mildew spores and mold in all the ceiling corners, shower entry threshold corners, wall above the shower, grout and under the caulking, above the baseboards behind the toilet, window sills and shades, shower knob. Can get on Amazon a mold treatment to settle in these areas to clear up. - We also had ants in our room from arrival. The fridge unfortunately also froze our food and was taken over by the ants. Ants even made it into our zip locked cooler that had contained food. They provided a yard scale spray for us to apply but only helped on the ants present; they kept coming. Then provided traps we adhered on baseboards where they entered but that still kept the ants around the kitchenette. They did offer to move to another room however, was concerned about our young son remaining on a twin pullout as he still requires bumpers so we stayed in the room we had with two queens and spent majority of our time enjoying fort Bragg and Mendocino. I rated it at least a 2 instead of a 1 because of the pros. I would be hesitant to stay again with young kids because of the sanitation related to mildew/mold/ants. read more

Our cottage was far enough away from the street to make it quiet although thin walls and neighbor's dog were a minor annoyance. Decent wifi, cute electric fireplace. Hut the Mustard Stayed in Cottage #5 & booked thru Booking.com The Good: *Good value for the money (±$150/night [includes taxes, fees, etc.]) *Extremely pet-friendly w/ a generous $15/night extra charge for pets. *Centrally located and just a few miles from most attractions in the area. *Kitchen isn't what I'd call "fully stocked'' but has most of the basics for cooking like pot, pan, can opener, wine opener and a few utensils. I'd def recommend bringing some knives and a cutting board if you really want to get serious. *Good water pressure and the water is nice and hot. *DirectTV w/ a decent selection of channels *Bed is a touch hard and springy for my liking but decent enough. *Love the room themes and décor; made it feel very homey. *Check-in went pretty smooth for the most part, except for the part where she accused us of being early until she realized it was 2:50 (check-in is at 3). The Meh: *Wi-Fi was decent (when it worked) but there were a lot of connectivity issues and periods of nothing wanting to load. Didn't help that our mobile network (Xfinity [i.e., Verizon]) was garbage out here, either. *Tiny 32" TV w/ suspect video quality *Bring your own soap/bodywash as theirs is trash. We booked the Ivy and Roses cottage #6. It reeked of mold. The smell was so strong we asked to move to a different cottage. The usb plugs in the lamps did not work and the only other outlet in that room was broken. The second cottage we stayed at (#3) had ants crawling on the floor (we did not have any food) but at least it didn't smell of mold and the outlets worked. Would have given this hotel one star if it weren't for the awesome hotel manager assisting us and allowing us to move to another cottage. read more

It was easy to miss Shoreline Cottages driving. I think I missed it every time and had to U-turn. We stayed in Suite 10 and parked right in front of our cottage. It's pet friendly (no weight limit). Wood floors. Not so roomy but it fit all the amenities.. desk, futon sitting area, "kitchenette", fireplace, TV, Queen sized bed.. The bathroom had a shower/jacuzzi combo, the toilet had one of those "I'm sanitized" seals. There was also our own back patio with a picnic table and chairs. You can rent DVDs from the office during office hours. I didn't. The TV channels were enough. There was a family next door to us.. You can hear their screaming kids. There were communal areas outside.. Shoreline Cottages are located on the highway. You are short drives from restaurants, Taco Bell, a dog beach, and Fort Bragg attractions like the Skunk Train. It was a cozy stay. I liked what they had to offer in the suites with the back patio. I've read staying close to the beach, you would be hearing a foghorn repeatedly and if you have sleeping issues-- further away from that would be ideal. When checking out, just bring your key back to the office. There was no one there but a sign that directed us to leave the key on the counter.. Overall, a solid stay. read more

What a gem! I stayed in thr Roses and Ivy cottage. Super clean, spacious and well equipped. The cabin has a couple of "special" touches like an LED chandelier and LEF fireplace. This was perfect for a single female traveler. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The location was great. It wasn't "in town" but was very close to everything. There was a little road noise but Ft.Bragg is a busy town and you would hear the noise anywhere you stay. The noise did not affect my trip at all. I give this place a 10/10. read more

This place is exactly as it was described on the website. The cabins are comfortable, clean and cozy. They are not plush but the are well cared for. The hot tub and fire pit were a welcome touch. There are barbecues also but we didn't use them. We were exploring this area for the first time and this place worked out great. On the down side the bathroom was really small with no where to put toiletries. I would suggest an added shelf and another towel bar or hook. read more

Very clean. Room was ready when we arrived early. Only issues we found was two plugs that were burned up and sparked when you plugged anything in. We stayed in Dolphin Cottage, which has fireplace but is for looks only and no heat, so we used radiator heater. One lamp had cut cord, which was attempted to fixed but we didn't try to use it. One of the cabinet drawers fell off as well. So in total I was happy with the price and cleaning, but clearly they are taking shortcuts in areas that need more attention. read more

Very disappointed in our stay this time at Shoreline Cottages. This is our fourth visit to this place and I will have to say it is not what it used to be. The bed was so high I had to use an ice chest as a step up to gain access. Futon was so small that it looked as though it was designed for a child. No comfortable seating. Bedding provided for futon looked as though it was purchased from a thrift store. Spider webs all over patio furniture and deck. We won be back! read more

Would give it five stars if they upgrade the mattress and bedding. Stayed in the moose cottage, #4. The blanket and sheets are synthetic and don't breath at all, so I was sweating then cold then hot then cold all night. The mattress is the most uncomfortable, unsupportive squish. Didn't sleep at all the whole time. Just miserable. I won't come back unless they replace the bedding and mattress. Everything else was great though!! Clean, quiet, useful kitchen (except they need a stove fan, better knives, and a tea kettle), cute decor, easy parking, nice hot tub... Such a shame that this one aspect is preventing repeat guests. read more

Booked reservations the day before and by luck was able to book a night. If I could do it all over again, I would book an entire week. That's what I get for procrastinating. Shoreline Cottages worked for me due to the fact I travel with my dogs and prefer having my truck parked closed by. They have a carport that kept my truck within reach. I was also able to detail my car and transport things to and from my room quickly. The car port also sets the distance between the cottages providing more privacy. I wasn't able to hear my neighbors. It seemed as if we were the only ones there. Not all of the cottages have a carport, so be sure to ask when booking. We were also able to walk our dogs around the parking lot that made things very convenient. Besides the car port and pet policy, we had a private kitchen with a freezer and refrigerator that came in handy. They also have an outdoor lounge perfect to enjoy an evening with drinks. Firewood is provided for the outdoor pit for those chilly nights. I would definitely lodge here again if I get the chance to return. Hopefully soon. read more

Came here to celebrate sweet 16. It was perfect. Girls got to stay in their own room but we were close enough for this nervous mama. The cottages are quaint and cozy but so nice. Clean, super animal friendly. Our senior dog loved sniffing around the grass. It is centrally located to all the shops & food but far enough away to give some privacy. I took my wife here for Valentine's day. This was an awesome little place to stay. The room we had was equipped with a fridge and pots and pans and a fridge and microwave. There was a hot tub out back which was amazing to sit in at night and enjoy the coastal breeze. The people running it are very nice. And they have a memory notebook in the room to write a little story which is nice. I love how close it was to the beach and to the pier. Where I purchased fresh seafood to prepare a nice Valentine's day dinner. read more

My Husband and I have been coming to Fort Bragg from the Bay Area for about 4 years now and found Shoreline Cottages about 3 1/2 years the new owners have done a fantatic job with the make overs and updates to the kitchen appliances, but have kept the charm of the individual themes of the cottages, we love there is not a onisite person to check you in but I have never had a problem you recieve a text the day of check in with the keylesss code. housekeeping are there daily if you need towels or anything. we love the Dolphin Room and have stayed in another cottage tpp , I just love having a dresser and a bathtub. We call Shoreline Cottages our home away from home and we just celelbrated my husbands birthday and mine the next day. read more

We booked at Shoreline Cottages several months before our scheduled trip, a day before our check in date, we were informed that the cottage we reserved had some problems so we were promised an upgrade. We love the suite we were given! It doesn't have a full kitchen but a small kitchenette that served the purpose. Big bonus was the deck attached to our room! Good space for our 3 dogs to play around while we were in the room. Only thing that could use some improvement is the tub, it is jetted & big buy can use some updating. It is quite old so it doesn't look clean enough. They have a flat fee for pets too, unlike most accommodations in the area. Will definitely come back to this place! I loved my star at Shoreline Cottage. It was clean and close to the places I wanted it to be (Fort Bragg and Mendocino). The place was affordable and the manager there was very helpful in getting our rooms. He also shared a 2 page document with places to visit in north and south of Fort Bragg. Sadly it was very windy over the weekend and we could not see many places but the cool fire pit made our trip memorable and we sat for hours with our friends. We have stayed at Shoreline several times in the past and it was always great, clean and our go-to place in Fort Bragg. But this stay in Cabin 10 was a big disappointment. Cleanliness and maintenance has deteriorated significantly. The tub cauck is filled with mold and the inside of the entry door has ground in hand grease. It is well overdue for painting. The clear glass sink has seen its day and is missing a stopper to prevent items from falling in the drain. The outside private deck appears never to be cleaned and not worth using. When we checked in there was a used towel behind the bath door, suggesting they didn't clean well. Lighting in the room is inadequate for reading and coffee wasn't replenished for our second day. This great place from the past is gone. read more

We loved it here! We stayed in cottage #2, the 'birdhouse' cottage. The room was clean and well appointed with everything we needed to prepare meals in the full kitchen. Linens and bed were clean and comfy, and we appreciated the fresh flowers when we arrived. It's a little drive to the town center but not far, and the distance means it's very quiet. Sure, it's not a luxurious resort but if you are looking for a comfy and practical place to stay you can't beat this. The fire pit and dog friendly atmosphere made us feel right at home.
