What a BEAUTIFUL and ROMANTIC stay. My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary and got the King Spa Suite Room. Theres a pretty big tub that has views of the ocean. There's a fireplace to the left of the tub as well. Bath robes were provided. The hotel gave us a free bottle of wine since we were celebrating our anniversary. They also give a pretty good discount for military members. At the lobby, they have pretty good breakfast. Definitely try their muffins ! At the lobby, there's a ton of different wines available to purchase and bath bombs/soaps that can be used with your tub. On the side of the hotel, there's a couple benches and swing benches you can sit to watch the ocean views. It's truly beautiful.

Wonderful experience from reservation to check out! When I made the reservation, I explained to Ariel that this would be part of our 35th wedding anniversary weekend and what suite would she recommend? She recommended either the Mermaid or Victoria, saying, of course, all their rooms were wonderful. So after confirming with my husband, I went online and reserved, putting Ariel's recommendation in my special requests. Due to construction on the PCH, we ended up arriving after their check-in hours, but, because I called as soon as I knew we weren't going to make it by 8, they were ready for us when we got there just before 10, greeting us with a smile. Our room was Mermaid, as requested. A Superior Suite with an enormous King Sized, four poster bed, two person jacuzzi tub in front of a window looking at the ocean, a fireplace and balcony. There was also a television on a swivel mount to watch a movie in bed or in the tub. We received a bottle of a very good Chardonnay upon check-in as part of our room. We were surprised to find that the hotel furnished a grab and go breakfast each morning, which saved us money on our trip. We took our options upstairs Ham and cheese croissant was good, but hubby said the egg and cheese croissant was just okay. I have to comment that their hot water is INSTANT and HOT, which was nice. The Hotel didn't seem to have AC but we didn't need it! We were there from July 31 to August 3 and the outside temperature never touched 70. Being on the ocean, we were able to keep the door open at night and the breeze cooled the room perfectly. I felt wonderful under the toasty down comforter! I could go on, but I'll end this by saying, if I ever have a chance to return, I will definitely!

This was a great choice for a dog friendly hotel. They don't just 'allow dogs' they are actually dog friendly, providing a dog bed and a fun little basket of treats. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was typical grab and go from the lobby. The view of the bay and ocean was wonderful to look at from the balcony and

BRING GOOD EAR PLUGS! While the rooms are roomy and have fantastic views, I could not get a good night's sleep with the foghorn blowing constantly every. 30. seconds. The hotel itself is in a great location overlooking the coast, and just a few minutes' walking distance to the small downtown area, a pier with a ton of seafood restaurants (be sure to check out Princess Seafood Restaurant if you're staying here!), and the ocean. Staff is also super friendly, parking is convenient, and the grab and go breakfast has solid options!

This is an absolutely wonderful hotel to stay at if you're looking for a place to stay. Location: 5/5 The location has a wonderful view. You are still able to access the water for a pleasant walk with scenic views. Every room I have stayed at in the past has a view from the balcony, in addition to being able to enjoy it from the jetted tub + fireplace. Customer service: 5/5 Scott, Michelle, and Carli go above and beyond to help you enjoy your stay and accommodate any needs. They helped to accommodate a slightly earlier check in and check out. Boarding: 5/5 The bedroom was clean. The room included some features that had a nice extra touch (real china plates, better coffee, robes etc). The breakfast in the morning is actually freshly made and they have a huge variety of options (vegetarian and vegan)!

The number 1 selling point of this hotel is the view. It was gorgeous and amazing to wake up to. I believe the entire hotel is ocean facing so you'll likely have a killer view regardless of what room you pick. The room we picked was a King with jacuzzi and a beautiful balcony! The room itself was huge but pretty basic. I did appreciate that the layout of the room was very functional. The TV is basically in the center of the room facing the couch, but can also swivel to face the jacuzzi or the bed. I like having the TV on in any hotel room so I appreciate the swiveling TV. There is a mini fridge in the room which I also always appreciate. Check in and check out staff were friendly and efficient. Housekeepers were welcoming. Everything else in the hotel was pretty basic- basic amenities and basic breakfast. Some downsides to note: -Lots of stairs -Outdoor corridors -The foghorn as mentioned in other reviews is not loud, but you can hear it and it does go on for 24 hours a day. It didn't bother me for the most part. -Walls are thin and if anyone uses their jacuzzi next to or above you, the whole room vibrates-probably the most irritating part of my stay. All in all, if you want a nice view and if you don't mind just the basic amenities and can sleep through the faint foghorns, then yes, I would recommend it. See pictures!

This hotel was the highlight of our Mendocino trip. Room is exactly as pictured: modern, clean and great views. Variety of options at breakfast that you can grab and go to your room on a tray. Theres also a Safeway nearby and plenty of eating options.

Since we planned on driving the Avenue of the Giants - https://aroundthebayandaway.blogspot.com/2022/01/avenue-of-giants-lesson-in-resilience.html, Fort Bragg was our home base for two nights allowing us to be able to visit the main spots along the Avenue while still being close enough to good food options within Fort Bragg and 20 minutes from Mendocino. Because of Covid, breakfast is just a brown baggie with coffee cake, a KIND bar, and a tiny orange juice that you can pick up in the morning or the day before from the lobby. The king suite without the in-room spa had a nice sitting area by the fireplace where the spa would be in other rooms that overlooked the ocean and the harbor. It was perfect for watching sunsets or moonset as we discovered on our last morning. The patio is quite small so not really enough to enjoy takeout with a view (only enough space for your brown bag breakfast). However, the room itself is spacious with a full couch and that sitting area by the fireplace to have ice cream even if it's cold outside. I love that they have real plates and silverware above the microwave for your takeout enjoying it even more at times, than eating out. A hearty breakfast of Chicken Fried Steak and Monte Cristo in my robe in front of the fireplace with this view instead of inside a diner and our Noyo food after returning from a full day at the Avenue of the Giants, watching the sun set into the headlands in front of the oceanview picture window with fish and chips and salmon tacos. Think of it as room service but without the hefty price tag. The only strange thing is the numbering system of the rooms. There were some in the 300s that is parking lot level but in certain areas, it becomes 200s which can be a bit confusing.

Our favorite room - the one with the tub!

Love this hotel! There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in a huge jetted tub overlooking the ocean with a storm passing overhead and a fire at my feet. This is exactly the experience we had last weekend. The room itself is nice, big, and clean, the bathrobes were a nice touch, and the welcome bottle of wine was the cherry on top. Did I mention the staff at the front desk were all super nice! There is really nothing bad to say about this hotel. Okay, so getting to the room was a little wonky with the maze of stairs, but the room and the view forgives a lot. We even had a nice breakfast to go. This hotel makes the list of our top 10 favorites. We are already planning on returning.

Is the front desk 24/7 because I'm trying to confirm a reservation and am unable to reach anyone?

there is someone there 24/7, however if they are busy they will not be able to answer the phone. if you leave a voicemail they will be able to call you back as soon as they are available.

She made sure our room was ready for us, gave us a discount coupon for a nearby restaurant, and handed us a list of local places to check out, which was so helpful after a long day of driving. Everything was thought out in advance, and we really appreciated that level of care. The room itself was nice, and the ocean view from the balcony was lovely. The location is great, and the property definitely has that classic coastal Fort Bragg vibe. That said, for nearly $300 a night, there were a couple of misses. The shampoo bottle mounted in the shower was empty, which was disappointing -- especially at that price. Thankfully, I had brought my own. It was also pretty noisy early in the morning, with doors slamming throughout the building, which made it hard to get solid rest. Because of those things, I'm taking off one star. Even so, I genuinely liked the place and would consider staying again. Huge shout-out to Cody for going above and beyond -- her kindness and professionalism really made the stay better. @wegotschwag on tik tok

And we nailed it by choosing the very affordable Surf and Sand Lodge. We showed up on Friday afternoon to check in and was instantly and luckily upgraded to room 504. We were welcomed by Bridgette who told us about an event downtown, and some local hot spots. When we got to our room it was all smiles. The very clean room smelled good, and looked good as well, and the view from the balcony was spectacular. The beds were super comfortable, and each bed had 4 comfy pillows. I wanted to just chill in the room for 3 days, but that's not why I go to Fort Bragg. I was there for the Christmas parade, shopping, Sea Pal, and some beach time. The room had all the amenities possible including bath robes. But the coffee pot got the most use, we made coffee and hot chocolate many times. Overall an excellent experience and will most definitely stay here again and again.

We thought it was a saw, sounded like someone was doing renovations above our room. No 'continental' breakfast, just coffee pods and tea bags. Agree with Doreen B - rooms are shabby. Don't expect daily room service as that must now be a thing of the past. Rates don't reflect the lack of services or condition of the property. Location is fine. Not far out of town. Does have access to the beach - with a walk through a field and then a hike down a cliff. So if your up for that? There is a paved walk/bike path that runs behind the property and is heavily used. Don't expect privacy on your little deck - if you are lucky to face the ocean. Parking is slim, but there is a public parking lot right next door that you could walk over from. The staff is great. They are well aware of the properties shortcomings. Would I come back here again - no.

We called ahead to see if there was a restaurant on sight. There isn't one, but they have a sister restaurant that is about 3 min away that if you get their coupon you get 20% off. It's only 3.5 stars on Yelp so we passed and ate on our way. We were running late so that was really our only option to get lunch on our way to work. On the phone they asked us our arrive time and according to the gps it said 1hr and 12 minutes. She said she'll try to have our room ready as people were just checking out now. We arrived at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 4th 2026. To our amazement our room was ready, we weren't expecting that as we were so early. It was a blessing as I had to get to work in the room, we can work remotely sometimes. They also upgraded us to a room with a view. And it's a remarkable view of the ward and harbor. You can hear the sea lions, I believe barking at each other and many species of bird singing. There is a balcony with chairs you can sit out on too. The room has its own thermostat which keeps the room toasty warm on low and it's quiet. I can't recall what kind of unit it is but it's in the blood bad it quietly pushes hot air out. The room has a kireg type machine with sorted coffee, large mini fridge and freezer, and microwave. There is a desk and lounge chair and big screen tv with multiple channels. The shower/tub and toilet is separate from the vanity. The light to the tub/ toilet are is on the outside and the fan is extremely loud, so loud that it will wake up your mates who are in a deep slumber, so that's a minus. They have a ground floor that requires no steps and has a ramp that goes around to additional rooms. Other than that there are a lot of steps and no elevator that we've seen. So if you don't do stairs pick the ground floor and walk in on the lobby side. The lobby has all day tea, coffee, hot chocolate complimentary. They also have snacks and drinks for purchase: rice a Toni, Mac n cheese, spaghetti o's chicken noodle soup, tuna/chicken and crackers, chips, jerky oatmeal, and cold cereal. As for drinks they have juice boxes, milk, Gatorade, matcha, ect. No alcohol that I could see. The wharf is a 15 min walk or 3 min drive and they have seafood restaurants there. Across the street is Homestyle cafe for breakfast and lunch and you're a few min from downtown. This is a great location.

Be forewarned, this hotel is definitely outdated, but it had everything we needed: it was fairly quiet, had a comfy bed, good water pressure, and was clean! Since our room was closer to the highway, it was a bit noisy with the sliding glass door open, but was fine once it was closed. It didn't bother us at night. Your room will also not be turned in daily, but they give you plenty of towels and the garbage cans are big so it was fine for our stay.
