Appreciated the friendly attendant at check in. Purchased the king spa suite and were immediately struck upon entering the room. The views with the two arms of the harbor wrapping around the hotel...it is magical. I was worried when I read and saw how close it was to the highway, but with the way its nestled into the hill, road noise is no problem. As for the fog horn, yes, it is noisy and annoying. But we were provided ear plugs and a box fan. Due to the excessive heat this year (and probably every year moving forward--thanks a lot consumerist culture and climate change), we were roasting the first night. No AC. (And I hope they never get it. More wasted energy.) Used the box fan the second night and it was perfect. During the day, opened the glass patio door and enjoyed the ocean breeze. And did I mention the views? I could sit on that patio and watch the water, listening to seals barking, all. day. long. Lastly...it is walkable to the Noyo Headlands Park. This open space is magical. We learned that the neighboring wastewater plant helped replenish the soil after the conservancy obtained the land from the old lumber mill. Volunteers seeded plant life. Brilliant use of local resources! The birds and sea life were incredible. So glad to enjoy nature's glory, and just a walk from the hotel room. read more

I stayed here with my family while we explored Fort Bragg for the first time and it was a lovely experience! The view from the hotel is beautiful, you're right by the water and right off the highway/main road. We were able to walk to various places but preferred driving because of how the road is built and how busy it is. This hotel is super close to everything, shops, restaurants, and viewpoints. The hotel itself was clean and managed well. Our room was organized, the bathroom had nice soap and shampoo/conditioner included, and we never had trouble getting parking in the small lot they have. They also had breakfast in the mornings which was nice because we were able to grab something on the go when we were heading out. Very nice staff, would stay here again! read more

The only good thing about this hotel is the views. We booked a weekend getaway in the King Suite and after two nights, found TWO used condoms under the bed. When informing the front desk, the woman implied it was my responsibility that I didn't find them earlier. We just stayed at North Cliff and I have to say was one of the best Hotels we have stayed at in Fort Bragg. The location is perfect and right next to tons of restaurants, parks and the ocean. We walked across the bridge to Noyo Grill. We also could just walk right down their walking path to Noyo Harbor where we had a ton of choices. You see the staff working their butts off on maintenance things and cleaning. The views from our room are amazing with lots of fishing boats coming in and out of the Harbor. Very cool to watch. What a BEAUTIFUL and ROMANTIC stay. My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary and got the King Spa Suite Room. Theres a pretty big tub that has views of the ocean. There's a fireplace to the left of the tub as well. Bath robes were provided. The hotel gave us a free bottle of wine since we were celebrating our anniversary. They also give a pretty good discount for military members. At the lobby, they have pretty good breakfast. Definitely try their muffins ! At the lobby, there's a ton of different wines available to purchase and bath bombs/soaps that can be used with your tub. On the side of the hotel, there's a couple benches and swing benches you can sit to watch the ocean views. It's truly beautiful. read more

Wonderful experience from reservation to check out! When I made the reservation, I explained to Ariel that this would be part of our 35th wedding anniversary weekend and what suite would she recommend? She recommended either the Mermaid or Victoria, saying, of course, all their rooms were wonderful. So after confirming with my husband, I went online and reserved, putting Ariel's recommendation in my special requests. Due to construction on the PCH, we ended up arriving after their check-in hours, but, because I called as soon as I knew we weren't going to make it by 8, they were ready for us when we got there just before 10, greeting us with a smile. Our room was Mermaid, as requested. A Superior Suite with an enormous King Sized, four poster bed, two person jacuzzi tub in front of a window looking at the ocean, a fireplace and balcony. There was also a television on a swivel mount to watch a movie in bed or in the tub. We received a bottle of a very good Chardonnay upon check-in as part of our room. We were surprised to find that the hotel furnished a grab and go breakfast each morning, which saved us money on our trip. We took our options upstairs Ham and cheese croissant was good, but hubby said the egg and cheese croissant was just okay. I have to comment that their hot water is INSTANT and HOT, which was nice. The Hotel didn't seem to have AC but we didn't need it! We were there from July 31 to August 3 and the outside temperature never touched 70. Being on the ocean, we were able to keep the door open at night and the breeze cooled the room perfectly. I felt wonderful under the toasty down comforter! I could go on, but I'll end this by saying, if I ever have a chance to return, I will definitely! read more

Incredible view! Splurge for the spa tub and fireplace - it's worth the experience of bathing while looking out and listening to crashing waves. The room was very clean, especially the bathroom - the shower was squeaky clean! Our corner room was closest to the bridge/harbor side - I think the sound of the ocean muffled any traffic sounds because it definitely was not an issue, neither was the fog horn that others seem to complain about. They leave noise plugs for you, but we didn't need them. The only feedback would be to pull up the carpet! Then again I don't think any hotel should have carpet... but at least infront of the tub there should be a tiled area. Oh and the tub worked perfectly - water was nice and hot and the jets flowed smoothly. We will definitely stay here again! read more

The number 1 selling point of this hotel is the view. It was gorgeous and amazing to wake up to. I believe the entire hotel is ocean facing so you'll likely have a killer view regardless of what room you pick. The room we picked was a King with jacuzzi and a beautiful balcony! The room itself was huge but pretty basic. I did appreciate that the layout of the room was very functional. The TV is basically in the center of the room facing the couch, but can also swivel to face the jacuzzi or the bed. I like having the TV on in any hotel room so I appreciate the swiveling TV. There is a mini fridge in the room which I also always appreciate. Check in and check out staff were friendly and efficient. Housekeepers were welcoming. Everything else in the hotel was pretty basic- basic amenities and basic breakfast. Some downsides to note: -Lots of stairs -Outdoor corridors -The foghorn as mentioned in other reviews is not loud, but you can hear it and it does go on for 24 hours a day. It didn't bother me for the most part. -Walls are thin and if anyone uses their jacuzzi next to or above you, the whole room vibrates-probably the most irritating part of my stay. All in all, if you want a nice view and if you don't mind just the basic amenities and can sleep through the faint foghorns, then yes, I would recommend it. See pictures! read more

Since we planned on driving the Avenue of the Giants - https://aroundthebayandaway.blogspot.com/2022/01/avenue-of-giants-lesson-in-resilience.html, Fort Bragg was our home base for two nights allowing us to be able to visit the main spots along the Avenue while still being close enough to good food options within Fort Bragg and 20 minutes from Mendocino. Because of Covid, breakfast is just a brown baggie with coffee cake, a KIND bar, and a tiny orange juice that you can pick up in the morning or the day before from the lobby. The king suite without the in-room spa had a nice sitting area by the fireplace where the spa would be in other rooms that overlooked the ocean and the harbor. It was perfect for watching sunsets or moonset as we discovered on our last morning. The patio is quite small so not really enough to enjoy takeout with a view (only enough space for your brown bag breakfast). However, the room itself is spacious with a full couch and that sitting area by the fireplace to have ice cream even if it's cold outside. I love that they have real plates and silverware above the microwave for your takeout enjoying it even more at times, than eating out. A hearty breakfast of Chicken Fried Steak and Monte Cristo in my robe in front of the fireplace with this view instead of inside a diner and our Noyo food after returning from a full day at the Avenue of the Giants, watching the sun set into the headlands in front of the oceanview picture window with fish and chips and salmon tacos. Think of it as room service but without the hefty price tag. The only strange thing is the numbering system of the rooms. There were some in the 300s that is parking lot level but in certain areas, it becomes 200s which can be a bit confusing. read more

Love this hotel! There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in a huge jetted tub overlooking the ocean with a storm passing overhead and a fire at my feet. This is exactly the experience we had last weekend. The room itself is nice, big, and clean, the bathrobes were a nice touch, and the welcome bottle of wine was the cherry on top. Did I mention the staff at the front desk were all super nice! There is really nothing bad to say about this hotel. Okay, so getting to the room was a little wonky with the maze of stairs, but the room and the view forgives a lot. We even had a nice breakfast to go. They have really thought out their dog friendly rooms for the most part. I do wish they'd swap carpet for something more durable and easy to bleach because there was a bit of a urine smell when we first walked in. We let the unit air out a bit and that much improved it! The dogs felt very welcomed and there was grass right outside the pet friendly units that were designated spots for them to go. We used their provided food and water dish bowls but brought our own dog beds (they did provide one though). Overall very happy with it, especially given the price was very reasonable. They provide ear plugs too for the foghorn but we didn't hear it in our room. We did hear the neighbor when they came in but the sound came through the shared bathroom wall so if you're sensitive to noise I'd keep the bathroom shut. read more

This was our first visit to North Cliff and it did not disappoint. Check in was smooth and easy. The lady that checked us in, didn't catch her name was very pleasant and professional. Since it was our anniversary we received a complimentary bottle of wine. There was real wine glasses in our suite. When I called to reserve a room I was offered rose petals on the bed since it was our anniversary which was a beautiful touch. We stayed in a King Spa Suite which was so nice and clean! It was perfect for our weekend getaway. It had all the amenities you needed, microwave, fridge, toiletries, glass plates and silverware. There is a continental breakfast in the lobby that is grab and go. You can get your food and take back to your room which is nice. They have both regular and de-caf coffee. The cups for coffee were small for me so I did use the coffee pot in the room to brew more. They do offer coffee/tea in the lobby until 7pm. Breakfast is 7am-11am. The lemon cranberry muffin was really good. There was also ham/cheese croissant sandwiches, yogurt, juice, milk,oatmilk,fruit and assortment of muffins. Back to the room, we had robes and towels by the spa tub. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and with a lot of pillows. We had a sofa in our room which was nice to relax and watch TV or eat. Our view was nice too. I seen other reviews about the foghorn and there was ear plugs provided. We did not need them. We left our slider door open to listen to the waves and yes we heard the foghorn but it didn't affect our sleep, we slept like babies. Beware of where your room is located! If you're in any of the rooms near the stairs, you will hear every step and every luggage that walks by. I was in room 109 for reference. If the front desk lady is there named Lavender, there's no point in telling her any problems because she could care less! Absolutely no customer service, and for some reason, she kept lying over and over. I spoke to one of the maids, and they also said she was not a nice person. The stay was good up until we tried to get help from Lavender. If she was just nice about helping us, maybe things would've been better. I would never treat a customer the way she treated us. read more

We stayed here for a couple nights, and had a nice time. The room set up is well done, spacious and the hot tub by the window is really unique. The room was clean, but there was an ant problem near the windows/sliders facing the beach. The set up of the hotel is strange though. To get on the second floor you take stairs down then back up. Also the lobby is detached from the rooms so to go pick up breakfast it's a little inconvenient. Overall, the breakfast was decent if you want to save money on going out, but there are a lot of good breakfast places in town. We would stay here again if we returned to the area. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights on a special trip following his 7 month deployment. I had called initially to see if this hotel would put candles and flower pedals around the bath. They assured me they would. I then booked online and I added the same special request, as instructed by the front desk staff. I called again 2 days before hand to verify the reservation and reminded them of the request for the candles and rose pedals. They again assured me that it would be set up when we arrived. When we checked in, and the room was not set up. Additionally, I booked the superior suite and it was supposed to come with a bottle of wine. I had to call the front desk and ask about the wine and why the room was not set up, as they assured it would be. She said that she was sorry but the day shift was supposed to do it and she will ask them to do it the next day. The next day it was still not done. It sucks because we were celebrating something very special and they dropped the ball 2 nights in a row after multiple confirmations. The room was nice but the room heater didn't work and neither did the portable heater in the room. Views were beautiful but I'm let down by their subpar customer service for the price you pay to stay here. read more

This is our 5th time here. It's our home away from home. It's a 5 star hotel for the bargain price of $300 per night. The huge window right from the jacuzzi tub gives you a perfect view for sunsets and sunrises. I love the fireplace for ambiance and the complimentary bottle of wine you get each time you come. The only minor negative is that the lady that checks us in every time never recognizes us and treats us like it's our first time there explaining where to park and how to get to our room. It would be nice if she recognized us after the fifth time. They do offer a continental breakfast that's ok we like the cranberry lemon muffins. One of my favorite things about the North Cliff is that we get to swing overlooking the cliffs and ocean. It's a great spot to cuddle with a blanket, your significant other and even a good book! Visit was mid-July 2021. Wanted a hotel that had a view at the same time was close to spots that my wife and I could tour. As there were numerous choice in Fort Bragg, we settled on this establishment. The hotel is somewhat dated but bed and room were comfortable enough, had the the view we were looking for, had a hot tub along with a pseudo fireplace. Breakfast was packed and was comprised of a breakfast bar, fruit cup. Parking is free and accomodates around 20-25 cars. Staff could be better but we don't deal with the enough to gripe about it. Keep in mind that there is a foghorn that goes off every 30 seconds but the sound is faint enough that it doesn't bother. The room has courtesy earplugs if you need them. Honestly, the foghorn lulled me to sleep. Would recommend this property if you don't mind an outdated room stay . read more

I enjoyed our stay here a few months ago. The hotel is conveniently located off HW 1 (Main Street) and was easy to find. The room was clean and spacious and quiet (we had a corner room on the top floor). The complimentary breakfast is pretty standard but convenient. They had eggs, sausage, hash browns, cereal, toast, bagels, fresh fruit, and an assortment of juice, milk, tea, and coffee. There are no elevators but the stairs were easy enough. It might be harder for someone who is not physically active or older in age, but for the average person it should be okay. Also, people are correct that the fog horn does go off about every 30 seconds. It didn't bother me during the day or while sleeping, but it might be annoying for those who are light sleepers. There is no air conditioning, however it's not really needed given the cool sea breeze. Each room comes with a box fan and leaving the sliding patio door open in the evening helps it cool off quickly. read more

Went here a few months ago & im just now leaving a review. This place has some amazing energy. Escaped to the coast for a post Valentine's Day excursion with my girl Anna and had a transcendental couple days and romantic nights. What a beautiful blessing to awaken to the sounds of the ocean waves crashing against the shores of the pacific Mendocino coastline. My heart is full of love and happiness. This has been my husband and myselfs go to for a romantic get away for years. Celebrated our 16th Anniversary this year there and it was once again just over the top incredible. If you're celebrating an anniversary let them know, they do a great job with champagne and bed of roses and I don't remember it an extra charge. Third floor King Suites are the best experience but theirs really no bad view staying there. You have a view of the Harbor always and the fog horn always sounding in the background. Your jacuzzi is right by the window with a tv on a swivel if you wanted to enjoy it from there. There's even a very nice restaurant that just moved to where you can just walk across the bridge to go to. Delicious food too! read more
