We stayed at the Westport Hotel for my sister's wedding with both our families, and I cannot recommend it enough! The B&B is incredibly cozy and charming. Our group actually filled up all the rooms, which made it feel even more enjoyable. The hospitality is top notch - especially Katie, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable in every way! My husband and I stayed in their Rose Room and it was the perfect place to unwind after a full day of festivities. The oceanfront balcony connects to the next room (where my parents stayed hahaha) and we loved being able to stargaze at night and watch the sunrise in the mornings. One of the highlights - freshly baked scones and coffee delivered to our door each morning. I've never had a proper scone until this weekend.... they were perfectly crispy on the outside, flavorful and not too dense. Breakfast in the parlor was another treat - always beautifully prepared, delicious, and such a lovely way to start each day with family. We also appreciated how they had an EV charger, which saved us multiple trips into the next town (20-30 minutes away). We even went for a morning run along the coast and the views at sunrise were unbeatable. + the in-house dry sauna was SUCH a treat. Overall, this was such a special stay. We truly felt like we were on vacation ourselves and can't wait to come back someday soon! read more

This is an amazing place. The hotel consists of 6 rooms all uniquely designed. I stayed in the Rose room and it was absolutely divine! I loved that in the morning they will bring a pot of coffee and a selection of pastries to enjoy in bed, or on the balcony. You then later have a full breakfast served to you down in their beautiful lobby. This service really helped my husband and I slow down and enjoy the day. Their pub is also absolutely gorgeous! It is truly something to see, if only for a quick drink. The food is fantastic! I was also lucky enough to get married in Westport. We used the hotel to house my family. They were so accommodating. We had the rehearsal dinner at the Hotel as well. They were an absolutely pleasure to work with. They went out of their way to ensure the flowers, menu, and overall feel would match the wedding. This is a very cute bed and breakfast and located in a very nice location. Right on highway one so you can just cross the street and you are right at the beach. The beach is a bit rocky and has a small tide pool. It's perfect for a short morning walk or sunset viewing. I don't think it's suitable for swimming Bc it's quite rocky. The view is gorgeous though. I was a bit skeptical in the beginning Bc of bad experience at other bed and breakfast. This surpassed all of my expectations. The room is adeqUate for two guests. I'm not sure they have bigger room. The towels and linens are soft and nice. The bed was comfortable. You can also adjust the room temp in the old fashion way. It's located about 25 mins from fort Bragg. There isn't a restaurant around but the hotel has a small pub which has quite a number of live music on different nights. We didn't get to hear any but saw the sign. It's cute and friendly. We love the morning scones and coffee. Breakfast was also delicious. The common area has a fireplace which we utilized at night and it was so beautiful. You can hear the wave coming onshore. I wouldn't say it's the most quiet place Bc there are cars driving on highway one but it's generally good. Staff are very friendly and we can't wait to be back. read more

We wanted to stay in one last place on the Pacific before heading inland where the Pacific Coast Highway ends. What a beautiful location and an amazing inn! The service was excellent, the room lovely and comfortable, and the food superb. We booked the oceanfront room with a balcony which was an amazing room. It's hard to beat a tray outside your door at 8:00 complete with scones, coffee, fruit, and juice! And that's just the pre-breakfast! Breakfast at 9:00 was a veggie omelet with roasted potatoes. There's nothing to do here....and that's the point! My husband and I wanted to get away for two nights. He loves Mendocino, so I was game to go. Hubby was in charge of getting the room. We thought he had reserved two nights at the Westport Hotel. I had read a brief blurb about it in a recent Sunset magazine and it sounded like an interesting alternative to Mendocino, and just a little further up the coast. When we arrived at the hotel, it turned out that hubby had made an error, our reservation was not at the Westport Hotel. Not to worry- we had the most incredibly gracious assistance from Talerra (sp?), who we had interrupted from preparing the rooms for that day. Talerra spent at least 20 minutes phoning all over the area, trying to figure out where our reservation was held. She never once pushed that we stay at the Westport, but did inform us that they had a room for that night, but not for the next. Talerra handled everything so smoothly that she was one of the main reasons that we wanted to stay at the Westport Hotel. So we booked one night and were so glad that we did. Our room wasn't ready yet, so hubby and I took a walk up the highway and looked at the ocean. The boulders on the beach below us were quite interesting formations. (The next morning we took a run where we had walked- quite invigorating.) When we were settled in our room it was a little early to eat, so we sat in the parlor room in front of the gas fireplace and read. It was completely relaxing to sit and do nothing but enjoy our surroundings with no phone or t.v. to interrupt. We stayed in room #4, which had a queen bed, bathtub and deck with ocean views. The room was pristine in cleanliness. In fact, I don't believe I've ever stayed anywhere that was as clean as this room. The walls were painted a soft sage green, the comforter was white and fluffy, the room decor included a minimum of furniture, but what was there was lovely: an antique armoire, side table and two chairs with a shared footrest. The darker green carpeting looked new, and I think I could have eaten off of the bathroom floor tiles- everything was new, fresh and sparkling clean. For dinner, we ate pub grub at the adjoining restaurant. Our starters were delicious crab cakes (really, they were crab balls) and a spring roll, both tasty and not at all greasy. We were served by three, excellent waitstaff who saw to our needs but were unobtrusive. Instead of the main entrees, we decided to go for fish and chips. The fish was the most tender I've ever had in a fish and chips combo. Dessert was a concoction of ice cream over a macaroon, drizzled with chocolate sauce...yum! Two pieces of chocolate from the Mendocino chocolate company were at our bedside, one milk and one dark. The following morning we had homemade scones, tea, coffee and fruit left outside our room, pre-breakfast. When we came down for breakfast, we were served juice, a homemade biscuit, fruit and an omelet. I'm amazed we still had room to eat, after the scones. This is a place that is tended with loving care by everyone who owns/works here. It really shows that the people of the Westport Hotel want you to have a completely relaxing experience, very different from the everyday hustle and bustle. If you want to "check out" of a busy urban life...the Westport Hotel is the place to go and do nothing for a little while. I don't think you'll be disappointed- we weren't! read more

I really wish there were more hotels in the world like The Westport. Immediately when I stepped into the lobby I fell in love with this place. I am so glad we passed on Mendocino and stayed here instead. Granted, there are more stores and shops in Mendocino but there's nothing close to this elegance and class in any hotel there. I was struck by the attention to detail in the decorating from the paintings that were from a personal friend of the owner to the beautiful fresh flowers welcoming you into all the corners of each room. Martin, our host was professional yet personable. After our delicious omlets in the morning I was so sad to leave. It was such a magical, quaint place. I hope to return someday. read more

It was Sunday around noon, the day before Labor Day. We're planning on traveling up north Monday for our anniversary trip, so why not leave one day early? Yeah right, and where are you ever going to find a hotel with vacancy at this last minute? Tim finds Westport Hotel's web page and it looks wonderful. No TVs or phones! A real getaway. But the reservation scheduler on the website says they have nothing available for tonight. But ever persistent he decides to call and Dorine tells us they do have a room available! And it's the one we can afford! So we reserve it and tell Dorine we'll be there in 5-6 hours. When we arrive Dorine is at the desk and quickly gets us checked in. She then takes us through a little tour of the place. Sometimes bed & breakfasts are so over-decorated and flowery that it is unpleasant. Westport Hotel is completely the opposite of this. It is beautifully decorated with interesting art and a nice selection of antiques that aren't too heavy. I guess light would be the word I'd use to describe it. We were in room 3 (called the Lost Coast room on the website), with a window which has a view of the ocean (not straight on but from the side of the building). The bed was very comfortable. The shower was huge. The whole room was very clean. In the morning we awoke to a nice tray of scones, tea and coffee at our door. Then later we went down for breakfast and had a nice meal of strada and fruit. The coffee is very good and I was told its a local roast. I couldn't pick up the wifi on my tablet in the room, but it was very strong downstairs in the dining/parlor area. There were a random assortment of books upstairs and I managed to finish one while we were there. Overall we loved our stay and will definitely come again if the opportunity arises. read more

We came from Ohio to be near the sea. Wanted a quiet B&B where we could see and hear it from our room. By a fortunate accident we found the Westport Hotel on-line and booked Room 1 for two nights in mid-March. What a wonderful surprise, and a delightful stay! First, the place is beautiful, very tastefully refurbished pioneer era hotel with about 6 rooms, a Pub and small restaurant downstairs. Room 1 is one of the most attractive rooms I've ever stayed in: High ceilings, warm light colors, beautiful woodwork painted pristine white, and the ocean and sky peeking in through the windows, just across a meadow. Spotlessly clean and comfortably appointed, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, and a good sauna down the hall. A deck outside overlooks the ocean view. The staff and owners are lovely people, friendly if you want them to be, but respectful of your privacy. The food was delicious: warm scones, fruit and coffee delivered to your door in the morning, a delicious from-scratch breakfast downstaris later in the morning, at your convenience. The town of Westport is tiny and authentic, no touristy stuff here. A little general store where you can get sandwiches or a bottle of wine, no other stores. the locals come to the Inn and Pub weekend evenings, and otherwise it's all quiet and you feel like you own the town. 20 minutes south on Highway 1 is Ft. Bragg, where you can get a fine meal and excellent craft-brewed beer in the evening, another 20 and you're in Mendicino if you really want to blow it out on a top restaurant. The redwoods to your east, miles of beautiful coast to the north and south, gardens, eucalyptus, red-winged blackbirds calling from the meadow. What more can I tell you? If you want a weekend in a quiet paradise, do give it a try.. read more

Thank you the whole Westport staff, you made us feel extremely welcome, at ease, relax and wonderful. I had the most relaxing two nights ever!! The staff are wonderful, kind and caring. We felt immediately at home once we arrived, check-in was seamless and easy. Our little room was cozy, came with two bathrobes and slippers. There was complimentary cute seashell chocolates, water and really nice bottle of white wine. There was pre-breakfast! Yes you heard me right, pre-breakfast of delicious drink of your choice with their yummy scone AND GLUTEN FREE RAISIN TOAST (The next day there was GLUTEN FREE SCONE) they were delicious! Breakfast was amazing as well, we had a pot of of the most aromatic flower tea (rose, jasmine, mint) ever! With breakfast of the day, huevos rancheros and avocado omelette. YUM! We had dinner at their restaurant it was equally delicious, they actually had a proper Cesar salad (with the corresponding slices of anchovies). I know it doesn't sound fancy and I was never a fan of Cesar salad until now.... you just gotta try it. There was also roasted chicken breast, juicy and cooked properly. A year ago my husband and I drove through Westport on our way to Eureka and we were utterly enchanted. When it came to booking a vacation this year my husband remembered Westport and we booked a room at the Westport Hotel. We were utterly enchanted. The attention to detail is amazing. Every room is beautiful (since we were the only guests on a Friday night we had a chance to look at every room). We originally booked the Lost Coast room but they upgraded us to the Rose Room. Every room is elegant with plush, rocking armchairs, fuzzy blankets on the beds, and lovely antique armoires. We were initially a little apprehensive about staying in the hotel alone. I have a silly hangup about ghosts. I am happy to say there are no ghosts. Instead there was a tray of butterscotch scones, coffee, and fresh fruit awaiting us outside our door at 8:00 am. At 9:00 we went downstairs and followed it up with omelettes, toast, and fruit. A few things to note: the Westport Hotel is all about the details--cantaloupe cut into hearts, a massage chair available whenever you want, tea with perfect sandwiches and scones on Saturday from 3 to 5, a sauna available 24/7, & my favorite, wonderful chats with innkeepers Cyndi & Catherine who are more than happy to tell you all about what it is like to live in the Westport area, the history of the town, the places to see, the best way to get home. Honestly, my favorite part was talking to them! It would be remiss of me to not mention the terrific Abalone pub. It was open Thursday through Saturday (or Sunday, can't remember which) until 9:00 pm. Sunset ocean views with terrific food. We had the chicken and the Portabello mushroom and enjoyed both. The pie was AMAZING!!! So much so that we returned for it our second night. Apricot Almond & Blackberry. Yum! Also, random thing, if you are cat lovers (we are) there are two cats who roam the gardens from time to time named Stormy and Pinky and they are dears! We loved our time here and can't wait to return. Perfect for someone wanting peace and solitude as well as those looking for a home base to explore Mendocino County. read more

It was quiet, welcoming, well decorated and finished to a high standard, very comfortable with thoughtful little extras (complimentary bottle of wine, 2 piece breakfast, sauna, fire, massage chair, fresh flowers) and with very friendly, helpful service. Loved the discrete delivery of tea, scones & fruit salad first thing outside our door, followed by a very nice cooked breakfast downstairs (2 choices available). If I had to mention a negative for balance, the Internet was a little patchy via satellite but not at all significant enough to bother us. As others have said, it's the attention to detail which makes this place stand out from the crowd, we'd go out of our way to stay here again! read more

What a lovely pub. Yes it's a hotel too but this is for the pub. Little did I know this place was opened. I drive by it once a week and it seemed abandoned like the building next to it. Anyway this is a super historic place (the building next to it has old history but it really really is abandoned) so the pub is open year round. In the winter it's open 3 days a week. I discovered they do a high tea EVERY SATURDAY. Wow one of the ONLY places on the coast of Mendocino to do so. I took hubby and to tea we went. They serve local tea from Mendocino. They bake their scones right on the premises. Their scones are amazing. The high tea, reasonable. You always think there isn't enough food with high tea but we had plenty. We did order another scone. Glad we did we had a different flavor then the one we received with the tea service. There were about 27 folks enjoying the view and the ambience and the food. Amy,Tabitha and Sierra were super helpful and attentive. Oh loved the pubmosphere. The refinished Redwood bar and the variety of beer and local wines was nice. A place to return to for dinner as we perused the menu and said yep we will be back. Oh to explore local turf is amazing! Remember Westport is like going nowhere but has exactly what you need. Such a lovely place... my mom lives in this little village and we frequently have friends stay at the Hotel. Beautifully appointed, elegant and comfortable, with great staff. The best lodging for 30 miles in any direction! In reference to previous posts, the hotel is definitely OPEN! The Old Abalone Pub is unfortunately closed, but they do serve afternoon tea. The reviewer may have been in town during a brief closure, but we're happy to say it's still in business. read more

Here is a true five star gem on the Mendocino coast. The attention to detail is awesome in the quality and comfort of the rooms, but the gracious level of personal service is even better. With only six rooms, this is a wonderfully quiet and peaceful place. It feels like being home, but someone else does all the work. Amazing white water views, great decks, and sauna. Staff brings a tray left outside your door each morning with a fresh baked scone, fresh fruit and a pot of coffee; all on a silver platter. I enjoyed mine on my private deck while watching the waves. And then you go downstairs for a hot breakfast. Unbelievably delicious. Hopefully the restaurant will open again at least seasonally. But there are reasonable food options nearby, or you can bring your own picnic treats. I really hated to leave. This is a place I will return to when I need a personal break from daily life. Better yet, here is a place I will go for that special romantic escape. Selfishly, I hope this out of the way masterpiece doesn't get too popular. read more

The Westport Hotel is a wonderful escape. Westport is far enough up the coast that all the rooms are quiet at night. The breakfast comes in 2 courses - coffee and scones with a yin-yang presentation of jams, and a full breakfast (omelette or yogurt/fruit/granola parfait). Rooms are lovely and clean. Sheets are like sleeping on clouds. Check for dinner availability at the Old Abalone Pub that is the restaurant in the hotel. Dinner is available on specific nights. It is quite good - and you have a choice of pub grub or entrees with seasonal ingredients (we had pork tenderloin and ling cod and the warm (yum) fruit crisp). Staff is attentive. Pacific views and sunsets and beaches without crowds are unparalleled. read more

We absolutely loved our stay at the Westport Inn. The hotel itself had been immaculately restored and the rooms were pristine with very tasteful colors and décor. Everything was new, beautifully done and very very clean. We ate in the restaurant/pub located in the hotel and very much enjoyed our meal. Entrée choices were interesting and varied in ethnicity which wasn't really characteristic of the venue however, everything we ordered was quite good. The service was terrific and the people very friendly. The hotel manager/owner was also a great addition/inclusion to our stay. Friendly conversation made our visit even more enjoyable. All-in-all, it was a great stay and one I would recommend to everyone if you find yourself on the Northern California coast! read more

My wife and I have spent many years and miles driving around Northern California, and this ranks up there as one of our favorite visits. The husband and wife who run the hotel are friendly, helpful and take good care of both the establishment and its guests. Our room was on the second floor with a door that accessed the front balcony, looking out across the PCH at the ocean. On the small side, clean and sparsely-appointed (a good thing, with none of the overly cutesy B&B-style quilts, paintings and nick-nacks) but comfortable all-in-all. The pub downstairs is good for dinner or just lounging over a few beers, both of which we did. There was a surprisingly skillful guitarist the day we were there, the Ethiopian chef made us both American and East African fare with equal aplomb, our waitress was a very nice local lady living off the grid a little ways up the road. An interesting mix of flavors all around... I regret having spent nights in Mendocino on previous road-trips. This place was much more in line with the kind authentic, quiet, laidback type places we like to stay at. Skip Mendo, skip Ft. Bragg and just add an extra half-hour to your coastal leg. read more

We ate dinner at the hotel and had a wonderful time. It is very casual, the menu is limited but interesting and has something for almost anyone. We felt like one of the locals while we were there - everyone was very friendly. Our dinners were very good - I had fish and chips and my husband had buffalo stew. The fish was perfectly fried and crispy. There was a piano player. The view of the ocean was great. The restaurant is currently (June 2009) open Friday - Sunday, though they serve breakfast to their hotel guests every day. The owner obliged us with a tour of the rooms. The hotel has been recently renovated. The rooms, all upstairs, are clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The bathrooms have lovely small tile floors and 3 x3 ft showers or a tub. The rooms have plenty of windows and great views. The best room, at the front of the hotel, is large and has a spectacular view of the ocean across the two lane hwy. 1 from the windows and from the deck. Hwy. 1 is not very busy on section of the coast, so traffic is not an issue. We plan to stay here in the future. read more

Wow! I am happy to report that I got sconed! I was at the Fort Bragg Botanical Gardens when a gardener let me in on a little secret- The Westport Hotel. I arrived in time for tea service on a Saturday and was treated like a queen. I sipped my tea while watching whales spouting in the ocean. The tea was fragrant and filled with wildflowers and I inhaled my crumbly apricot scone, which was accompanied by two delectable types of jam. I also enjoyed my delicate cucumber tea sandwich, which was adorned by a perriwinkle hued wildflower. Corrine was a perfect host as she showed us the beautiful rooms with ocean views, the sauna, and the cozy massage chair in the lobby (eye mask and music included). I look forward to returning for a longer stay! read more

The Westport Hotel is a very lovely and special place to enjoy the Northern California Coast. The hotel has been restored beautifully, honoring the original architecture. The atmosphere and decor are pleasing. And, the staff is welcoming and friendly but not too friendly :). They quietly leave scones and coffee/tea at your door in the morning, which is later followed by a delicious breakfast. There are panoramic views of the ocean. We had a room with a balcony, where you can enjoy your morning beverage while taking in the ocean. There is a park just across the street, which has a trail leading down to a gorgeous beach. They also have a sauna, and they provide comfy robes and slippers! I highly recommend this bed and breakfast! It is definitely worth the short drive north from Fort Bragg. I stopped at the 19th century Westport Hotel after a rigorous day of biking from Garberville. I had selected Westport because it was the first town down the Mendocino Coast from the North, and I knew I'd be tired. Man what a great stop! The hotel, which has only a few rooms, has been completely restored/renovated. Nicely done, not at all fussy in décor. The hotel was spotless and the beds hi quality with good thread count. A really upscale feel, which, as a frequent business traveler, I appreciated, as well as the view of sunset from their balconies. The owners and staff were gracious, chatty and cheerful. As I was leaving before their scheduled breakfast, they set out fruit, scones, and my own coffee pot, so I could set out early. It is right across the street from an ocean front park, and a couple doors down from a deli/country store. There is absolutely nothing to doing Westport except gaze at the ocean and stroll, so enjoy the tranquility. I stayed in 4 historic hotels on this trip; the Westport was by far the best. This is one of the sweetest places on earth! We did not stay in the hotel because we are the camping sort; however, we visited the Abalone Pub and were completely blown away. The wait staff were two of the friendliest women I've met in a long time! The beer selection was solid. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. The view from the dining room is to die for. While we were there we watch whales spouting off in the distance. After a few pints and dinner we watched the sunset from the beach. A perfect day in a perfect place. I stayed at 10 different hotels in a row recently all along Hwy 1, and this hotel stood out as my favorite. This hotel is small enough that the staff will recognize you personally and make you feel welcome. Joy, the manager is a pro at hospitality and the Westport Hotel is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The rooms are comfortable and feel like a bed and breakfast. The bed is comfy and the furniture all has a lot of character. The bathroom is modern with strong water pressure. There's a wonderful massage chair that I made great use of (I had biked all day). The Abalone Restaurant has delicious food and helpful staff - as well as a wonderful view of the California coast. I hope to go back again soon. read more

As all of these reviews are saying the same thing, you shouldn't be surprised by yet another reviewer telling you there's nothing to do in Westport but enjoy the view. That being said, the Westport Hotel made the perfect stop for some much needed r&r after that long coastal drive northbound, not to mention, more of that stunning view. The house truly is a gorgeous one and I'd be more than happy to live here, overlooking the Pacific and watching those sunsets nightly. They've figured it out, I swear. Simplicity is good and Westport is simple. The rooms were all beautiful, clean and well laid out. My only 2 complaints (if you could even call them that) were the lack of mini fridges (sorry, I know the B&B experience isn't necessarily rocking the mini bar but c'mon, a few lil' fridges for the occasional fan of cold drinks in the room isn't too hoity toity) and the fact that the Abalone Pub was closed for the evening on a Sunday night stay (kinda had dinner here in mind prior to booking so that was a slight let down but not a huge deal). Everyone here was a real doll though, so accommodating and welcoming. Also nice to note is the fact that there's a convenient little mart just next door, across the street, with all sorts of standard staples and even a few local bests. The room we stayed in was The Fo'c'stle and it had access to the partially shared deck upstairs... awesome. I AM SO HAPPY THAT WHEN BOOKING BY PHONE THE WOMAN WHO HELPED ME (sorry, name forgotten) ADVISED ME TO OPT FOR THAT ROOM (something nominal like $10 more, unsure but so silly NOT to spend) BECAUSE IT WAS SO NICE TO HAVE THE DECK, THE VIEW, HECK, EVEN THE NICE COUPLE IN THE ROOM NEXT DOOR TO SHARE IT WITH. Really a gorgeous B&B situated in the middle of nothingness, gorgeousness and friendliness. The bed was comfortable, we slept well, and pleasantly awoke to both that ocean view and a foldable travel table outside of our door with coffee, scones and jam. Lovely. Dainty. Delightful. They also served breakfast at 9am downstairs but we were trying to head out as early as possible. By the time we packed up our bags and got downstairs to thank them and depart, they asked if we wanted breakfast packed into biodegradable to-go containers for our journey! How sweet is that?? Not only did we gratefully accept but were so happy when an hour or so down the road we dug into the most delicious slices of quiche, fresh melon and berries and crunchy bacon : ) It really was so delicious, I'd love the quiche recipe! Stopped in here for Dinner on Thursday night. All I can say is AMAZING! The service is top-notch, their house made Plumb and Blackberry Sangria is TO DIE FOR and the food...words can't even begin to describe how good the food is here. Had the opportunity to celebrate my 40th birthday at this little gem along the coast and we couldn't have asked for a better place. We took advantage of their lover's package, and after we saw what we got with it, we said why wouldn't everyone go for it. We originally had the larger room towards the back and preferred the smaller room at the front of the hotel to sit on the deck and watch the ocean. Our package came with chocolate port with truffles, a nice added touch. Next was our four course dinner with wine pairings for each course. The food was delicious, fresh and the menu is created by what is in season. We started off with figs, goat cheese and prosciutto. A nice green salad of arugula. I had the filet of beef and my bf had the shrimp stuffed sole. Lastly we had the huckleberry creme brulee and a creamy cheesecake with strawberries. In the morning you are greated with a continental breakfast of their famous scones, sweet rolls, coffee, fruit and a mimosa. We spent Saturday night at the hotel, so at 10a after a nice walk on the beach which is directly across the street, we got to select a items off the bruch menu. The staff was great and friendly, treated you like royalty. The bed was comfortable and who wouldn't want to wake up to the roar of the ocean. We will definitely be back, this oasis has set the bar high above the rest. read more

We relied on Yelp to help us find a hotel off Rte 1 north of Fort Bragg and they delivered. This beautifully restored cozy, clean, and charming little historic hotel set us up with a room with an ocean view from our second floor balcony. Armed with a complimentary cold beer from the Old Abalone Pub on the first floor we relaxed on our balcony and watched grey whales feeding offshore. Wow!!!! Beer, whales, and a family of Oyster Catchers (for you birders)...all before dinner. The dinner in the pub was excellent and we were fortunate to stay when the pub was open. It is closed Tuesday and Wednesday and the closest other restaurant is in Fort Bragg. In the morning they deliver coffee, tea, and scones to your room and then feed you breakfast. We will definitely stay here again, hopefully for more than one night. read more

We spent New Year's Eve at the Westport Hotel! We enjoyed a delicious dinner in their restaurant. The hotel is a delightful and the owners are very nice! The beds are super comfy, the views are incredible, and the place is squeaky clean. There's even a sauna!!! read more

This hotel is wonderful. It is more like a Bed and Breakfast because they serve complimentary breakfast and each room is unique. We were able to see 5 out of the 6 rooms and they are all gorgeous and beautifully painted and decorated. It has been renovated so everything is new. The owners must have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars. Martin, the innkeeper, took care of us. He delivered warm scones, fresh fruit and coffee to our door at 8am each morning. Then he made us a wonderful omelette with more fresh fruit (between 9-10). The hotel has a restaurant that is currently closed. Do not confuse the Westport Hotel with the Westport Inn as the Inn does not look as nice. Our room had a deck overlooking the ocean. It was right on Hwy 1 but there is no traffic so I wasn't bothered by cars at night. We just couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay in the small quaint town. (FYI - there is no restaurant or bar in town). Ours was the Rose Room #4 and was a bit small. The other rooms we saw were all bigger, but ours had a deck and not all rooms have one. There is wi-fi but right now it's not very strong. It works downstairs but didn't work in our room. Also no TVs. We played cards they provided which was fun. There is a nice sauna but we didn't use it. I highly recommend this hotel. read more
